The Warriors is one of the best movie to game adaptations, a great beat em up from a 70's cult classic film, taking the plot of the film and fleshing out the story behind the titular gang as well as events leading into the start of the film. It controls great, captures the vibe and tone of the source material, and is absolutely a gem hidden in Rockstars library of classics. I still have my PS2 copy and will never part with it.
You start out by saying that to qualify for the list a movie must follow the plot of a movie, but then go on to talk about Enter the Matrix, which has a completely unique plot from any of the Matrix movies. What's the deal? Yes it's canon to the movies, but it doesn't follow the plot of any of the movies. Ghostbusters: The Videogame is the same, and yet you disqualify that.
I think it's also insane because he clearly states that it can be a 'companion piece', and Ghostbusters: The Videogame completely fits into this. Ghostbusters: Afterlife even acknowledges its existence!
Enter the Matrix ties directly into the plot of The Matrix Reloaded, but shown from the perspective of two side characters. It's more like The Godfather game than Ghostbusters, which is canon but does not intersect directly with any of the movies.
The Godfather is my personal favorite. It might be a GTA clone but I actually prefer it to the PS2 GTAs. I know you can do a lot less stuff in it but the gunplay is better, the story is good and the clothing options are super classy. Plus, I really like that they let you create your character from scratch!
What I like most about your top ten list is that it’s your top ten list. It’s not the most popular or most known. It’s just your opinion and sometimes it seems people ether won’t do that or feel they need to justify their opinion.
I have to throw my love of ANY of the LEGO games done by Traveler's Tales The Harry Potter Franchise, the Avengers, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, it feels like games done by real fans of the movies done about them.
Scarface: The World Is Yours was awesome. Like an alternate ending to the movie. What if Tony Montana survived the raid on his house and rebuild his empire
Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith is a great one. The combat was a lot of fun, especially with boss fights. And although it didn't amount to much, it was cool having the alternate ending where Anakin kills Obi Wan.
The DS version of Episode 3 was also good. Going from an action game to a side scroller beat-em-up in the same vein as streets of rage or The Simpsons arcade game.
It's definitely a niche market and demand that doesn't exist anymore. I remember Star Wars Phantom Menace having about a dozen games during it's release.
Spider-Man 2 the game was the GOAT for me! Still blows my mind that the devs made a world that massive with so many nooks & crannies AND barely any load screens. Legend.
Wolverine Origins is one of my absolute favorites. Easily the best thing that came out of Wolverine Origins movie (although I don’t think it was the worst movie aside from a few things, obviously the Deadpool portrayal)
Godfather is definitely an underrated gem. I wish it was available on modern consoles because it was more fun to me than GTA. Unfortunately, I'm sure it is in license heck.
@9:00 My FAVORITE part of that Spiderman game was the bowling alley. They got Bruce Campbell to do the PA announcer and some of his lines were absolutely hilarious.
When I saw the title of this vid my first thought was... "Mummy De-Mastered" Good choice! But Ratchet and Clank is NOT a movie tie-in anymore than Mario Bros is... I take umbrage...UMBRAGE I tell you!
It's funny how the Wolverine game was way better than the movie, but hey it was metal (pun very intended) 😂 I do hope they'll make a new one where they cover all the wars Logan has been in from Civil War to the jungles in Nam
The Goldeneye remake went even harder and then the Hulk 2003 game went harder than it had any right to. Also, the Genesis Jurassic Park games were so good.
The Mummy wasn't complete trash. It was the best of its tired, played-out genre. Not sure why people didn't like it, but like other movies that are exactly like it (Superhero, generic action, etc.), that's just inconceivable to me
@@joshuabean7805 True, if only by a couple days. Its development was parallel to the film and had input from the film's director, Edgar Wright (one of the greatest directors of all time). I would call it a film tie-in, but it could certainly be open to interpretation.
@@NordicAndNerdyIt's like X-Men Wolverine's Revenge. Both have elements that are inspired by the films but their plots and overall tone is more like the source material
The Scorpion King (PS2) - it takes place just before the timeline of the movie, explaining what happened to the Akkadians that made it to where Mathias, his Brother and another Akkadian was all that remained of their tribe. there is also a GBA tie-in that tells the story of what happened between The Scorpion King movie and how Mathias went bad in The Mummy Returns.
I'm not sure if this counts but Scarface is a fantastic game. If you were a fan of GTA and you seemed to like The Godfather, I would definitely recommend it for you. I wasn't a big GTA fan but I had a blast with Scarface. The game acts more like a sequel..ish. Watch the movie first, then play the game. It acts more of a "What If" the ending was just a little different. You essentially have Tony Montana rebuild his empire.
I was hoping to see Lord of the Rings: The Third Age on this list. It might not be a direct tie in, the party follows in the footsteps of the fellowship, and the game uses live action clips from the movies.
While not the best, the Harry Potter games where a big part of my childhood, specialy the pc versions of the first three. And while the focus more on the books, they where released alongside the movies and hit the same plot points, so yeah, I think they fit in this category, specially since you would be pretty lost if you didn't read the books or watched the films, making them more of a companion piece than a game adaptation.
yeah, Godfather was amazingly good. I came to it not having seen the movie yet and I was impressed. Was crazy impressed a dying BRANDO recorded lines for it, even though they were deemed good enough to get included!!
I put so many hours into The Godfather on PS2, trying to see how quickly I could complete the game. I think I had it down to 18 hours and 50 minutes. Super fun game.
There's a sequel to nightmare before Christmas videogame that has good combat, original songs and rhythm based sections. It's called oogies revenge or something like that
Reservoir Dogs the game is pretty fun, at least to someone who loves the movie, it is to see things that were included in the film. And Superman Returns is probably the best superman game, we need a new one of those stat.
Ratchet & Clank 2016 actually just got a surprise update on PS5 that gives it a 60 fps mode! I'm super excited about that. I was okay with the 30 fps, but 60 fps I think is just... ahhh.
I liked Home Alone on the Sega Genesis. It was kind of open world, allowing you to choose which homes to booby trap first, albeit as long as you were aware of which homes Harvey and Marv were hitting first
Lego The Incredibles is a pretty good adaptation of the second and first movies. Plus when not playing through the movie missions you can go and take on new villains created just for the game.
Though technically an extended special, I have to give a mention to SpongeBob Atlantis SquarePantis for the DS. It was a competent 3D platformer which expanded on the empty space between bikini bottom and Atlantis, and stands out compared to the console version

How dare you not mention Peter Jackson's King Kong. That game actually innovated the entire gaming industry and still holds up!
I noticed that more people talk about the Goldeneye game than the movie.
But King Kong tho.
Peter Jackson king Kong the game is way better than it has any right to be. Such a good game
Master System Aladdin is super underrated. Kept the story intact almost perfectly.

This man picks Enter the Matrix when The Matrix: Path of Neo exists and is a much better game...

spider-man 2 was an absolute banger. i also really loved toy story 2: buzz lightyear to the rescue.
