    Overflow was pumping out the side of the house

    & the mrs was shouting “come back !!! “
    It’s was the new mixer in the kitchen
    I stupidly used the tap & left it in the middle of the hot & cold!after use .

    Al enjoy your videos very informative,can I just say it can be a situation where the water in the cylinder gets too hot.One way to solve this was to turn the pump down on an open system the other is if you have a gate valve on the flow to the cylinder so the heat diverts to the heating.Also could I just say that you should have a ball valve before the non return valve so if there is an airlock on the hot water you can shut the water off take out the non return and replace it temporarily with a small piece of pipe blow it out withe the main at the mixer tap by blocking the spout when it’s back running shut the ball valve off replace the pipe with the non return valve then open the ball valve.

    Trying to figure out what is going on with the design of my hot water cylinder. It is vented and direct with one element (no gas system in the house) but it has two pipes going into the side of the cylinder one at the top which is the thickest pipe and one at the bottom which is thinner and both run up to the attic. I actually have four pipes in total which look like they run up to the attic, side by side. confusing.

I was initially told by the plumber company they would a pressure gun to clear the radiators after the chemical treatment. Thanks @dereton33, great video yet again. :-) Do the one way valves reduce the pressure on the hot supply (as far as the tap is concerned)? I looked up 1-way valves and there seemed to be single-check and double-check types. The double check seemed to reduce the pressure more.
    Could you get away with putting just a single valve just above the output of the water tank which would cover all mixer hot taps? Maybe the reason that one would not NOT do this IS because they reduce the pressure; i.e. only put them where needed (on mixer taps).

    • @dereton33
      @dereton33  3 года назад +1

      A single check one reduces pressure the least. A valve on the cold tank outlet would force the water up the vent instead.

    Some fixed spout (not swivel) mixers, particularly bath deck mixers are dual flow. The water mixes in the spout and not the body of the tap. These wont backfill the hot up through the cylinder and tank and end up pouring out of the warning pipe. They are like rocking horse poo; very rare and it's difficult to establish if you have these beforehand, especially if you purchase them online, or from a diy shed. Let's face it, the staff wont know the difference, nor care for that matter. Caveat emptor! Let the buyer beware! Somewhat begs the question. If you have mains water at high pressure and hot water at gravity (low pressure), what's the point of buying and fitting any mixer?
