I hear John Fogerty just was finally awarded rights to all his music! Deserved.
FINALLY!!!
@@uncledavesbrigade7106 Right!? wow
The only man to get sued for sounding too much like himself.
Long, long overdue
Fogerty wasn't awarded the rights, he bought a majority stake in Concord and now has control over how they are used and can once again perform his own songs without legal hassles.
CCR was so big for a period of time, such great Classics. Congratulations to John Fogerty for his long court battle in winning the rights to His music!!
Oh, wow. Great news. Like 50 year wait. Wonder if next it will be McCartney/Starr to get their rights back?
I saw that!! And was so happy for him❤️🤗🐝
@@deborahdanhauer8525 about time, right!
@@Chris.Davis.2 Yes! That was ridiculous. Keeping a man away from his own songs…. He looked so happy when he got the news!❤️🤗🐝
My very first concert in 1969 was CCR, Canned Heat, and Bo Diddley. After blowing a smokin' solo, John Fogerty threw his Harmonica into the crowd. I still have it! Love CCR!
That must have been amazing!!
What a great memory 😊
Wow
My first concert was CCR as well with Booker T & the MGs and Wilbur Harrison (Kansas City, Let's Work Together which Canned Heat covered).
Oh wow. That sounds incredible !! ❤
This song was actually penned in 1923, and the first recorded version came in 1934 courtesy of American folk/blues singer Lead Belly. CCR's version came out in 1969 (less than 3 months after I was born!).
@MrsKelly S'why I'm here. Well, that plus I love these two. They're so much fun.
yeah it's about a black man in prison and his wish to be out and free enough to ride the train. I wonder if it was inspiration for Folsom Prison Blues?
Lead belly has so many great songs!
_the midnight special tv show_
The song was done by the actor Harry Dean Stanton in the classic prison film "Cool Hand Luke" in 1967 so I wonder if that inspired CCR to cover it.
My father blessed me with having this music in our home when I was a child. I grew to love CCR and still listen to them to this day. Well, on the night of his death my brothers and I reminisced about our dad, and we played nothing but CCR that night, and when this song came on my eyes moistened and all of us with sad knowing smiles seemingly all seemed to say," yes this is why dad loved this music it touches the soul'. It was a glorious way to say goodbye, together. Thank you for this reaction.
Beautiful story.
You guys were blessed to have a dad who played GOOD MUSIC. I am in India and we depended on the radio (Voice Of America being one of them) to listen to music and then run down to the record store to see if they had the records with the songs that we just heard.
My dad just passed on the 3rd of January, 2023. His ashes were put in the Vietnam Memorial in Hopkinsville, KY. I had his CCR 45s that he had in Vietnam. I have been a CCR fan since birth and I just turned 52. I have been lucky enough to see John Fogerty every decade since 1986. I haven't seen him the 20s yet.
So sorry you lost your father❤️
@@OriginalFeets I’m sorry you lost your father ❤️
Love all of John Fogerty and CCR s music!!!!
All you need to hear is one note and you know who it is!!!💕💕💕
So much feeling to them!!!
Wait until you guys hear "Long As I Can See The Light"! Fogerty's voice is on another level...SOUL. Pure Soul.
Love this song, and the TV show "Midnight Special" was EPIC! I discovered Steve Martin, Journey, Dr. Hook, Peter Frampton, CCR, and the legendary Wolfman Jack!👏👏👏
The "Midnight Special" TV show started out as an election special to get young people out to vote. NBC didn't even realize they had much of an audience after midnight. Rating services didn't tally viewership between midnight and 6 AM. It was as a result of overwhelming viewer mail that the show became a weekly series. They also quickly filled the midnight spot, Monday to Thursday with "The Tomorrow Show", with Tom Snyder. It was the beginning of late night network television. Without these breakthrough shows, there would be no "Late Night" or any of it's competitors today.
I’m a massive CCR fan!! Thanks for putting it on!!
My Daddy (who turned 77 today!) raised me on CCR. About 10 years ago I saw John Fogerty was having a concert a couple of hours away and got 2nd row tix for me and my Dad. Awesome concert, but my Dad isn't one to sing along or anything. Song #17 "Midnight Special"... Daddy was singing to that one! We ran into Fogerty at Disneyland a few months after we saw him at another concert years later and he talked with us for about 5 minutes or so. Quiet guy, but that made our day!
The Midnight Special was actually a train that passed along by a prison in Sugar Land, Texas. The light refers to the beam from the engine car passing through the prison grounds. At least that's the story. Sugar Land is a city southwest of Houston.
if the light shone on you, you were the next one out the door?
This is also a jail break song. To take the Midnight Special was to bust out of the prison, go over the wall or thru the wire and escape.
Did that light from the train shine into a room where they held prisoners who were about to be released?
Just about every train line in the country that had a train running around midnight was called "the midnight special".
You had to get on that midnight train to go down to the Huntsville prisonYep the songs about a wife going to get her man p
Doug Clifford's drums are always one of my favorite things about CCR songs.
Love CCR. Can’t mistake Johns voice. 💜💜💜
Tailgate, bonfire, boone's farm, and passing a joint. Best of times
And if you're hard-core you pass on the Boons Farm and go straight to Night Train. 🤣
I thought that was just me and my friends
Dont bogart that joint my friend

Talking about STANDING the TEST of TIME.
These folk ROCK.
Simplistic PERFECTION takes some fine, soulful musicians~
One of my favorite bands when I was a teenager in the 70's! Awesome tunes! Great memories of a simpler time! ✌🇨🇦
If you liked that rendition, check out "Heard It Through The Grapevine" (the LONG version). Talk about a jam session! Congrats on your Bengals win, Jay!
Ain't nothing better than a little C.C.R to get you in a good mood!! Thanks for this Reaction 🤘 you guys are the best.more CCR please ✌️
This song is 100 years old!! Proof a well written song will never age!
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Sweet Hitch Hiker" and "Travelin' Band" !!!
Travelin' Band is 2:10 banger, so do both songs at the same time!!
"Sweet Hitchhiker" is just that...sweet!
One of my favourite CCR songs, thank you both. Also recommend their "Someday never comes".
"Bad Moon Rising", "Heard it Through the Grapevine", "Have You Ever Seen the Rain", "Fortunate Son"
One of my favorite CCR songs... if you want another bluesy classic from CCR, check out "As long as I can see the light".
One of my favorites also!
I comment this in every CCR reaction they do. It is one of CCRs very best and they will love it.
How do you not love that? That's just good music.
I just found you guys shortly and I'm so pleased to see a couple of younger people loving CCR, my all time favorite band. Midnight Special is my #2 (behind Proud Mary) Creedence track. I guess I'm about half way through the CCR videos and look forward to watching them all. If you want to hear yet another side of CCR check out Ramble Tamble from Cosmo's Factory. A blistering rocker; my only regret from Creedence is that they didn't cut loose like this one more often.
One of my favourite bands when I was younger.
Love this song, but every time I hear it I can’t help but think of the movie “Twilight Zone”. Keep up. The awesome reactions! ❤
wanna see something really scary........ got the same Twilight Zone reference
I just mentioned it above!! The best! “I love Creedence” 😅
"Had quite a scare up there ugh?"
The only movie that will keep me from sleeping if I think about it too much
i was a fairly young kid (13?) when my Mom took me to this movie at a drive in... I was pretty freaked out by that scene and so yea this song stuck with me with that movie.
Actually, the first time I heard this song was 1983 when I was 10 and it was in the prologue scene from "Twilight Zone: The Movie". A scene starring Dan Aykroyd and Albert Brooks and directed by John Landis. I loved that film as a kid, even though that scene freaked me out back then. Always remember this song in it though. A classic!
Yeah, that face when he turned around haunted me for years
You wanna see something scary!!!
Whenever this song starts, I think of that movie.
Just call them “Creedence”, that’s what everyone called them back in the day.
There's a few great versions of this song and this is among the best. I first heard it by Harry Belafonte in 1962 when I was 14 years old and I loved it. Little did I know that the guy playing harmonica on the song would become one of my greatest music heroes a short time later, Bob Dylan!
If you watch the Movie, "Cool Hand Luke" from the mid-'60s, about a bunch of prisoners in a southern work prison, one of the inmates in the open bay barracks plays and sings this on a worn out acoustic guitar. It's an old traditional blues song.
Love that movie. Even has Paul Newman singing.
John Fogerty grew up in El Cerrito California near Berkeley. He may have been drawn to music from the South, including blues and country but his roots were West coast. Many bands in the 60's and 70's didn't stick to one specific genre. Jerry Garcia played blue grass and Bob Dylan had a great album called Nashville Skyline.
Toms son is my very good friend
It’s amazing how much great music and impact they had in just the few short years they were recording together. Their sound will live forever
My daddy showed me all good music, when I was so young, I LOVE CCR!
Haven't heard this song for about 35 years. Thank's for this nostalgic feelings..
ONe of my ALL TIME favorites!!!!! Thank y'all so much!!!!
Wife here.., Hands down favorite CCR song!!!
CCR, the Eagles, Jimmy Buffet, Heart and Queen- the soundtrack of my teenage years.
My childhood.
add Simon & Garfunkle, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Steppinwulf, Five Man Electric Band and a few others and you're near defining my youth in the 1970s. That has to be the greatest decade of rock music in history(at least for Me)!
Everytime i hear this i think of Dan Akroyd in the Twilight Zone movie..............you wanna see something really scary!!
That reverb. That drum. That harmony. That acoustic part. When the electric and bass come in. Such a great arrangement. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ahhhh…. On the road in a convertible and turn this up with wind in my hair!!😂❤❤❤❤❤
I partied in the day of Creedance Clearwater Revival. Good to be there at the time, it was the best!
Alright man! Everything they've ever done! You have picked pure excellence in my humble opinion! 🤟🤟👍👍
CCR there music has a sound that will never get old.
CCR was always unique and I love them. Thanks for playing this
This song always reminds me of the Movie the Twilight Zone
Same♥️
Classic Creedence I was 8 months old when this song was released. 🙏🏽✌🏽♥️
ty amber and rob for the video love CCR u guys rock ty and im sure ill be watching more tc and bless .
I'm a 68 year old man from Trenton, New Jersey and I think you guys are so cool. I was a hippie back in the day and I feel a kindred spirit with Amber and J you are really a great dude.
I have some good stories from when we lived in Trenton.. Very memorable, especially since I was so young and remember so much..
My mom's best friend was a black lady down the street, and her son was my older brother's best friend..
Ugh.. The stories...
Super Song from CCR, my best Song from CCR is Pagan Baby, super Fogerty sing an guitarplay, Spezial Tip !!! Greetings from Germany
I feel so blessed to be a member of the RSR family. Thanks for your dedication and hard work you put into the channel.
Listening to this (and his other stuff) you would never know that he was born in Berkeley, California and grew up in El Cerrito (East (San Francisco) Bay Area, where I'm from!). As Amber says, he sounds like he's from the Bayou! Love the groove on this. Shout out to Lead Belly, who wrote and played this. This arrangement is awesome!
Love CCR and everything they have done.
Congratulations on the Bengals win today! On to the Super Bowl! Always love Amber's reactions to songs - both her actual analysis and her grooving with the tunes!
Love Creedence.......WHO DEY BABY!!!
I can and do listen to this song over and over again. Everything about this song is fabulous. CCR are such a great band.
Love the Thin Lizzy shirt. One of the greatest live acts.
One of my favorites. The Midnight Special was a great late night show as well and had great music from top bands performing live no lip lip-sinqing allowed
Hard to believe this song is so old, over a hundred years old. I'm only 65. I think of the movie Cool Hand Luke, with Paul Newman. Love all of CCR! Thanks again.
Leadbelly wrote this song from the Central Unit of the Texas Department of Corrections just West of Houston, Texas in the 1950s.
south-west of Houston (Sugarland-area).... out in the country until the 60s, but now in the "suburb" zone
Congratulations on your 2 years doing the show, u all truly are like my tv viewing 🎼 musically love Ccr can't go. Wrong with Mr. Fogerty ✌️✌️💯
Ramble Tamble, and Sweet Hitchhiker are 2 songs you need NEED to listen to.
Hey guys, I really enjoy your reviews. It makes me feel like I'm hearing these songs I grew up for the first time again. You have to do "Long as I can see the light." It has some really great vocal styling by Fogerty and a really nice sax solo. Thanks!
Saw John Forgerty in concert a few years ago. One of the best concerts I have ever gone to. The audience sang along to all of his song. His son played with him too.
CCR was the music for the every day man or woman to appreciate. Love so much of their music. ❤
I love love CCR, They are my favorite band of all time...... ✌❤🎶
Searched through your videos. This is my favorite CCR song. Born on the Bayou is a great one too.
Who Dey?! 🏈🐯🏈 Winners, dat's who!!!
This song is in the opening of the movie, The Twilight Zone, with Dan Akryod. I'm pretty sure, it's been a few decades since I've seen it.
When I was about 14 we had 8 tracks. I listened to CCR so much I wore out 3 of their greatest hits 8 tracks! 🤣
One of the best songs of the 70s. It brings back alot of great memories.
Also was a pretty good song in the 1930’s. 😂
This has always been my favorite CCR song. I would listen to my mom's records on a record player as a small child and this one was played the most! Bad Moon Rising was my second favorite! Cotton Fields is a good one too!
What a sound, besides feeling like it's from the Bayou, a great mix of Blues, Rock, And a sprinkling of Gospel.
Love CCR, I had the pleasure of seeing them live in a double concert with bad company. It was awesome.
CCR always brings a happy feeling and good memories
Rip to my oldest brother, passed at 79, every ccr song reminds me of him, loved ccr ❤️!
I always think of Twilight Zone The Movie, when I hear this song!!! Do you wanna see something really scary? I love that line.
I hear this song and the movie Twilight Zone flashes in my head. Love this song!!
Leave us not forget to mention all that great reverb-drenched guitar! It really is a significant part of the song.
I had to laugh, Amber, because you said country bumpkin and instantly reminded of a song by that name sung by Cal Smith, very old country and I bet you’d love it! I just found it on RUclips, so it’s there!
Jay and Amber, growing up in the 50s and 60s afforded me the opportunity to hear music like this my whole life. I love your responses but particularly Amber's way to totally feel the music....way to go
I was fortunate to attend three CCR concerts (1970, 1971, 1972.) at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston, Tx., as a teen. They had everyone up, dancing and singing; this one, in particular. Doug Clifford's drumming, "bum, ba dum, bum ba dum" on "The Midnight Special" was like a call for everyone to jump up. John Fogerty (lead guitar and vocals), Tom Fogerty (underrated rhythm guitarist with a voice much like his younger brother's), and Stu Cook (excellent bass guitarist) set the house on fire. The Coliseum was situated on or near Buffalo Bayou, as I recall, and had a cavernous interior and echo chamber effect that carried the music outside to the streets--my parents who took us and came to pick us up from these concerts attested to that fact. The location made it extra special when they launched into "Born On The Bayou". Houston is known as "The Bayou City".
There are still another 20+ songs by CCR worth reacting to. Thanks for another fine reaction video. 👍🏻
Musicology moment: The Midnight Special is an important American classic song. It's roots are itinerant roadhouse blues of north Texas / Oklahoma cotton country, The most famous recording from 1934, Huddie William "Lead Belly" Ledbetter recorded at Angola Prison for Library of Congress by John and Alan Lomax (The Lomax Recordings), researchers given a grant by the government Works Progress Administration (WPA). These recordings, particularly Lead Belly's slack guitar stylings, because they were novel and available in public libraries across the country for free during the Depression, are acknowledged to be the foundation of featuring guitar as lead instrument in Rhythm & Blues and eventually to the style we recognize as Rock 'n Roll
Keep On Chooglin’ (live version) will blow your socks off, and you’ll find out what Chooglin’ is. Also, you should really check out his post-CCR stuff. Some of his absolute best work. Rambunctious Boy and Hot Rod Heart just to name two but not a bad song in his solo work at all. My favorite artist hands down and even more amazing live.
John Fogerty is one of the most underrated guitar players ever
Ha I just commented on one of y'all's vids from a year ago about this song!! So good!!!
The Late Great Muddy Waters and Johnny 'Guitar" Watson wrote and played the original. CCR asked those 2 personally for permission to cover this song. One condition, just respect the true meaning of the song. And as you hear, CCR put some respect on that song.
❤️❤️ Going 2 John fogerty concert in June in Antwerp Belgium. Hugs from Italy and Belgium 🇮🇹❤️🇧🇪
Hi guys love you alls reactions very much have watched 👀 thousand I bet , you can't go wrong with ccr. Thanks for having such an awesome channel hey. More bob seger too✌️
Its a song about a train that passed by a prison and if its light shown on you, it meant you were getting out.
L💕VE....from
CALIFORNIA 🏖🇺🇸🦅
Ok again you guys have done it awesome Jay and Amber this song was one of my inspiration that I started playing the drums in a band great keep it up love you guys bless you bye for now until next time
Definitely my favorite CCR song!!! It’s featured prominently on the Twilight Zone movie…THAT is one flick y’all should check out. Such a badass movie & song 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
You guys MUST hit the long (8:40 m) version of "Suzie Q". I just searched your history, and I don't see it.
"Suzie Q" was their break-out hit and it really and truly is a masterpiece. The long version is just to die for. It has the most amazing hook and rhythm that you've EVER heard. Nobody had ever done anything like it. The long version sets up a groove that wraps its arms around you and you gently guides you into the sauce -- where you stay lost and comfortable until the end. It is just marvelous regardless of your state of consciousness, and works really well after a little bit of -- well, you get my drift.
It is so refreshing to hear young people enjoying music I loved in the sixties and seventies. A great era for music.
Hey Rob Squad, I have been watching you since day one and have watched you grow and dig into so many great artists! If you are ready, there's a great documentary on folk music, and it is filmed in NY. Another Day Another Time is a must watch. Many great artists you may ot may not have heard of perform in it. You won't be disappointed.
CCR is and we’re magnificent! Gotta love ‘em!
Raised on this...still love it today. ✨
Written and recorded in the early 20's, Lead belly, the iconic Bluesman recorded it. Many versions exist, but this is the one most known.
