    Check your truck rear wheel seal at least once every month to see if they are in a good condition.
    DOT officers are always looking for bad rear wheel seal and they will pull you out of service (OOS) for that.

    Great video, but I’d recommend #2 permatex for a seal with a steel face like that. Helps prevent movement and a big help for leak protection. And it’s always a good idea to spill a little oil on each bearing before the full installation is done

      @mickeylocklear783 2 года назад

      He said to oil the bearings before installing the bearings

    First I want to say tks for your videos. I will be contributing for sure. Ok, never commented before. But I feel I should.
    I replaced my seal as shown, but I backed the torque nut back off and retorqued at 50fp.
    Well two days later it's leaking again.
    Replaced the seal again today and left it torqued at 200.
    We'll see how it goes.

    • @thereviewer4173
      @thereviewer4173 3 года назад

      You do not back off the nut after torquing on preset hubs, the ones that have a spacer (cone) between the bearings. The torque spec is 250 ft lbs for Axilok nuts like in the video.

    Why dump the suspension before jacking it? Just curious i jack up vehicles to do maintenance all the time and never did that

    • @franciscoamayaYT
      @franciscoamayaYT  4 года назад +2

      Because the air ride vehicles move 1 or 2 inches when the suspension air leak and as consequence the vehicle level drops and it moves on its own. It is just for safety.

    Thankyou , I had my wheel seal replaced yesterday at a shop and last night it started leaking bad . I watched them do it . They tightened the bearing then backed it off then checked the free wheel movement . I have this same setup on my 2007 Freightliner Columbia . So they did not do it right . Wish I would have watched this first. I subscribed. Check out my videos and do the same . Thanks.

    Do you add hub oil or gear oil for the drive axles? Also if you have a blown wheel seal on your drives, is this leaking diff oil from drive axle? Or hun oil from just the hub? Basically what I’m asking is should I check the diff oil levels after a seal leaks?

  • @eliseocuriel7889

    Great video Francisco. My question is whats the easiest way to remove axle from a volvo truck with cone washer? I hit it the same way as a freightliner with flat washers but it takes a little longer since the cone washers are wedged in the axle(tried the cone pliers,flat head screw driver,even small punch or socket). thanks

    • @franciscoamayaYT
      @franciscoamayaYT  5 лет назад

      Those cone self center washes are very hard to remove.
      You need to hit the axle in the middle towards the diff to release them.
      You can use a small torch to make it a little faster.

    Hola, como pusiste la tuerca (del hub min 5:43)? con que torque?, la apretas o de la otra forma apretar y luego soltar 1/4 de vuelta. Si me pudieras ayudar, tengo la duda porque trae separador por lo que deberia ser apretar firme, pero en general uno apreta y suelta muchas gracias

    • @franciscoamayaYT
      @franciscoamayaYT  6 лет назад

      Tiene que apretarse a 300 libras solamente (no hay que regresar 1/4)
      Si no tiene cono, tiene que calcular El torque a modo que El bearing no quede apretado.

    • @jr.abelposadasventasaudiov9730
      @jr.abelposadasventasaudiov9730 4 года назад

      En camiones que llevan 2 tuercas se aprieta 200 libras y se afloja 1 vuelta completa después se aprieta 50 y de afloja 1/4 de vuelta , la segunda tuerca se aprieta primero 200 libras y después el segundo apriete hasta 250 libras

    • @thereviewer4173
      @thereviewer4173 3 года назад

      @@jr.abelposadasventasaudiov9730
      Si viene con cono entre los bearings, no se regresa. El torque depende del tipo de tuerca. Si recuerdo bien, si son dos tuercas, la primer tuerca lleva 300 y la segunda tuerca 200.
      Ahora, si no tiene cono, entonces el procedimiento es diferente y sí va necesitar regresar la tuerca.

    He didn't add new oil?

    • @thereviewer4173
      @thereviewer4173 3 года назад

      Yes, he added oil.
      05:32
      Add 32 oz of 75w90 synthetic gear oil. Some hubs have a fill port on the hub to add oil after installation. Then down the road you want to check your differential oil level. Top it off if it needs oil.

      No, it you have the center spacer

    • @thereviewer4173
      @thereviewer4173 3 года назад

      These newer hubs with a spacer (cone) in between the bearings are installed differently and you do not back off the nut. The instructions and torque specs depend on the nut that is used. There are like 4 different nuts used on the Freightliner.
