  • This goes for any RTA ( Ready To Assemble ) Drawer or furniture . Gluing everything will help it last longer.

I think that part of the basic IKEA concept is that since you are only going to be in one place for 6 months or less, so make them easy to disassemble for the next move.

Well that could be the concept but I doubt they will make it to the next move. There's no way this construction will last with daily use without gluing it together. Thanks for stoping by Art , good to see you .

The particle board not only can't hold screws well without stripping, but it weighs so much more than most types of real wood, it put more strain on the screws, dowels and cams than real wood would... no wonder they are prone to falling apart. Thanks for the tip, Jerry... glue is absolutely essential to make that kind of furniture last and perform well. T4

You make many good points T4 ,what amazes me is when it breaks they just accept it. This particular customer just put the drawers aside. I know these RTA don't cost much so not much is expected from them.

Normal Wood glue . However If you're gluing 2 melamine surfaces together you need melamine glue.
