Thanks for another great review! I love working with the RWS system, but the Mary-El (2nd edition) is completely my soul deck, and became so instantly, right out of the box - it is so incredibly deep, insightful, and supportive, and the synchronicities I experience with it are incredible. The images are not only beautiful but powerful, and the minor arcana cards are treated with the same importance and depth of meaning as the majors. I love how the stories in the cards interrelate, weaving a tapestry of meaning throughout the deck. I use it as a stand-alone deck, leaving my understanding of RWS behind as I work with it. You are right - it is definitely its own thing. I believe in the guidebook she explains that she incorporates a combination of influences from several different systems, and is heavily influenced by numerology and Kabbalah. People could certainly work with it intuitively (and I do as well sometimes, especially as I've developed a relationship with it), but I find reading the guidebook as I pull cards to be wonderful for getting the full meaning and essence of the cards. The creator put so much energy, symbolism, and intention into each and every card and she describes the meaning of her imagery and symbolism really well. I love her writing style, which is often stream-of-consciousness and speaks to a deep part of my soul. Reading intuitively (kind of like bibliomancy) has always been a huge part of how I receive messages from Spirit, and I find that the images and the words in the guidebook combine here for powerful messages. I only have the 2nd edition, and I sometimes think I'm missing out by not having the first, but I'm honestly happy overall with the card changes, and I love the borderless, silver gilding and the card stock (though I generally overhand shuffle - I don't think it would hold up well to riffle shuffling). Thank you again Simon, your reviews are always wonderful, and your passion and delight for tarot always shine through. Much love :)
Just laughed so much I went into a fit of coughing. Ethereal meditative music is going and Simon pulls out the book and sings what does the book say to the tune of the song what does the fox say. Made my night 🤣🤣🤣
This deck..... I’ve kept coming back and forward to it. Really pulled and then repelled in equal parts. The most weird process to come to a decision to buy it. I’m interested to see why it has had this pull on me for so long. This was the final video I’ve watched about it (there have been many) that has finally convinced me to order it. Thank you Simon as ever 💜
This walk through is so timely for me 😊 I’m going through a big re-organization of my tarot collection today, and have been on the fence whether to move my first edition Mary El along... and then you showed up to give me some clarity 😄 Thanks Simon! 😀💖
I do like very much the change of the hierofante and the high priestess these cards and the four horses of the apocalypse put me off to use the deck. I could work with them better now. Thank you Simon for sharing.
At times like this i see why you try to have 'all the editions'... love the Mary-El, always have. it gives me courage when things are rough and/or weird, which seems to happen a lot at the moment. That sparkly silver edging is really pretty! thanks for taking the time to show it all in detail Simon.
I absolutely love my Mary El second edition. Liked the original 3 Swords, but all of the other changes I prefer. My black gilded copy wasn't really damaged (just a couple chips) and I preferred that edging so when I received my silver gilded copy, I gifted it.
Hello, I just purchased this deck and I am awe struck ! your walk throught helps to initiate my assimulation and I thank you very much for your good time and energy 11/11/21
I have both editions also. Actually I have two of the first. One I trimmed and edged. The other I kept in the original state The Mary el is one of my “soul” decks of that’s how you want to term it. Love this deck
I really enjoyed this, Simon! Even though I have it, I still have yet given it its due attention. I loved hearing your thoughts and seeing each of the suits for each numbered card side-by-side like that. Awesome, my friend! 🥰
Something about the moon and sun cards put together takes my breath away. I still don’t have this deck, but I’ve watched some of Chris’ study group videos. It’s probably time… Thanks for the lovely walkthrough, Simon! 🥰
I’ve got the gold edged 1st edition too. I didn’t realise it was pot luck . I’ve also got the black edged 2nd edition but I prefer the glossy 1st for the depth of colour. I love the artwork but I haven’t used the deck loads! Thanks for this review, it’s stoked my interest again xxx
You are helping me find my deck I will resonate and purchase. I have been researching for some time, I know I will get the rider waite, keeping in mind I am a beginner, however, I am looking for another as well. Thank you
I love this deck gives good readings plus the borderless is way much beautiful and did you know that it took her 12 years to make? I was reading about her in Etsy beautiful orgon 💞I actually had Mary El before my channel too. I bought stuff to make some of those lot of work but I’m so busy ugh 😩 Mary El is one of my favorites. It’s so hard to find time to learn everyone’s deck lol I did get a message from one of the cards the 2 of wands I think the fire flies are guiding him through the cave the scorpion in the tree he was scared to go but the fire flies guides him to take the right path lol
I'm surprised that I like this deck. Maybe its time has come ☺️ I prefer the original Judgment and 3 of swords cards, though :/ Even the original Hierophant is more evocative and thought-provoking. The new versions are still lovely, though 🥰
I like all the card changes except for the 3 of swords, now it looks unoriginal to me 😬!! The orginal was brilliant. I really wish they would of sold it with the originals so you can choose. I'd defo like the new heirohant in my deck, but I'm okay with the original if it means I can keep the others. I'll probably get it far in the future no hurry.
I want the first edition of this deck badly. Not a fan of the changes made to the High Priestess, Hierophant, Judgement & 3 of Swords for the second edition. The orginal Hierophant is stunning and really speaks to me in a way that other Hierophant cards do not.
I've been thinking about purchasing this deck and I really enjoyed your review! Gorgeous + provocative artwork. Thank you for sharing! I see faces in everything too *hehe* Do you see a face in the Four of Cups? :) Love your videos.
Hello Simon I have been following you for a Long time and enjoying it. I was wondering if you were familiar with the Playing Marseille by Ryan Edward. I don't recall you making a video on it.
Purple Moon hi lovely, glad your enjoying the channel. Yes, I did a walkthrough a couple of weeks ago. Here’s the link - ruclips.net/video/6kzFdKj0bCg/видео.html
I also seen a rare one with green back I kept thinking of getting it and I should of because i never seen green back on it ugh 😩 should of got it now I’m looking for it. Sometimes I’ll find out of print on amazon ca lmao BTW I just ordered it the first edition I had a chance to order it few months back I should of but I was stuck on the borderless 2nd edition
I think anything with the word 'abyss' in the byline would intimidate me! I know people who really get a lot from the Mary El but it is an intricate system.
Those pyramids...they are beautiful and my birthstone in the 2nd one with the tree (yasss). You must share where one can buy these beautiful pieces of art. Also ...🎵🎵 what does the book say🎵🎵 LOL. I have Mary El 1st edition with titles removed (bought 2nd hand) and it's the deck that I challenged myself to. I think I'll consider myself as being truly developed in many aspects of reading and self when I can use it (a personal goal I set for myself) as it's a heavyweight on my intution at this part of my journey. I can see the reason for getting the 2nd edition. While some coloration seems to have changed, the actual borderless and title placement does make it a bit more approachable/a bit less intimidating. Thanks for the walkthrough Simon.
What year was the first edition you have 2012 and you were saying some have gold some don’t how to know if they do just order an old 1st edition and from book depository? Does it say gold edition on the box lol I want the gold one I’m taking a chance and ordering it
No it doesn’t, there is absolutely know way of knowing until you open the box. Unless perhaps you contact Schiffer direct to see if they still have any in stock
Images are nice but I can’t see the use for this deck... it’s hard to read, it’s not clear.... I would call it not a practical, not working deck... I will definitely pass on this one. Thank you for the review, great job as always! Love what you do for tarot community! ❤️

I hear what you're saying about the names. I would almost like this deck even more without words on the cards because the images are so versatile.
Excellent walk through.
Thanks lovely 😊
@@the_hermits_cave You are most welcomed. I have a profound respect for your opinions.💟
oh simon I love your new pyramids💕
Aren’t they beautiful? 😍
Oh my! You have beautiful writing.
Great review Simon!!! I love the Mary el. I do want the first edition though so difficult and expensive to procure.
Fringe's End Tarot I think they are both on Amazon
@@the_hermits_cave what!?!? I must grab me a copy. I must say the original images are quite thought provoking!!!
