Need to listen to this 4-5 times. The thing I found recently is we consume so much content everyday that it’s getting hard to implement any of it. Advices everywhere, taking action nowhere

    • @brian_akhtar
      @brian_akhtar Год назад +25

agreed. that goes for all forms of content (podcasts, books, youtube advice videos, articles, journals, research papers, etc.). i read somewhere that someone had changed their reading habits from reading 20-30+ books a year to 2-3 books a year but rereading those books several times that year. makes total sense to do that. i’m choosing to reread the Outwitting The Devil multiple times this year amongst a few other books like Tao Te ching

Love this perspective. Thought that self improvement was all about learning from the greats through their content. But the real learning happens when you convert their teachings into your own form of content. Helps with learning + I actually feel more fulfilled by creating content myself

I started to write down takeaways from videos I would watch then write down how I would implement them in my life. That way you have your game plan written down then you can write what action steps you need to implement to achieve your goal.
      I hope this helps!

If you only have 20 minutes to spare, focusing on these specific time stamps in the video will provide the most valuable insights for starting your one-person business and taking action:
    1. Minute 13:45 - 18:15: This segment focuses on the power of consistently creating content and sharing your learning process publicly. Bush describes how he launched his writing career by committing to writing daily Twitter threads based on podcasts he was already listening to. This simple act of sharing his insights led to significant growth in his audience and ultimately resulted in his first online product.
Key Takeaway: Don't wait to become an expert; start creating and sharing what you're learning now. The act of creating forces you to synthesize information, attract an audience, and build momentum.
    2. Minute 26:30 - 29:00: Here, the conversation shifts to the importance of understanding your unique strengths and leveraging them to create value. Bush discusses the concept of "actualization hierarchies," emphasizing how individuals can find success by pursuing their own paths and building businesses around their passions.
Key Takeaway: Focus on identifying your unique strengths and interests. Build a business that aligns with your personal growth and allows you to express your unique perspective.
    3. Minute 30:30 - 34:00: This section delves into the idea of treating your business as a "public experiment" where you document your journey and share your learnings along the way. This approach fosters transparency, attracts an audience who resonates with your process, and provides valuable insights for both you and your followers.
Key Takeaway: Embrace the learning process and don't be afraid to share your journey publicly. Document your challenges, experiments, and discoveries to create a compelling narrative that resonates with your audience.
    4. Minute 34:30 - 38:30: Koe and Bush discuss the concept of the "ignorance tax" and emphasize the value of investing in coaching and education to accelerate your progress. They argue that seeking expert guidance can help you avoid costly mistakes and gain valuable insights that would take years to acquire independently.
Key Takeaway: Be willing to invest in yourself and seek guidance from those who have already achieved what you aspire to accomplish. This strategic investment can save you time, prevent costly errors, and propel your growth.
    5. Minute 51:30 - 53:00: The conversation concludes with a powerful reminder to take action on the insights gained. Koe encourages listeners to extract key takeaways, distill the information, and start creating. He emphasizes that simply listening to the conversation without applying the knowledge is equivalent to wasting time.
Key Takeaway: Knowledge without action is meaningless. Commit to taking at least one concrete step based on the insights you've gained from the conversation.
Hopefully this will help you get a solid understanding of Koe and Bush’s Core Principles: Start Creating, be unique, document your journey, and take action.

10 takeaways. Some of them are reiterations on things I`ve heard before (even more valuable because of that) and some new insights for me. Thank you so much for a deep and insightful conversation.
    1. Do who you want to be now. Want to be a writer? Write
    2. Uncomfortable truth: it takes times of imbalance to get to balanced times
    3. Choose the identity you want to be and cast votes for that identity. Start a notebook and write down every proof supporting that identity. Consistency bias: don`t subscribe to the society endorsed beliefs/identities and spend time on proving that points
    4. Having set of rules (desired outcomes) to course correct when things are not going the way it should. Thus if something is not fitting into that desired outcome rule, the conclusion is not that it won`t work, the conclusion is how do I make it work, what I need to learn to make it work. The uncomfortableness of realization that this is not working pushes for change.
    5. 2 years rule: what are the lessons you learned last 2 years. What are the things you are excited to learn next 2 years
    6. Ignorance tax: how much are you paying now for not knowing
    7. Physical manifestation of wrong choices: what are the things am I doing that are wrong but I don`t have physical manifestation thus I am overlooking the blind spot?
    8. Working on being physically fit will be a driver for improvements in other areas
    9. Sharing your ideas is creating connection with other people in myriad possible/impossible ways
    10. Investing in other peoples mind - when other people benefited from your ideas/knowledge it is like having investments in the world

    3 *THINGS I wrote* down:
    - The point you made at 2:40:09 about: you can become passionate about a thing but you're were actually passionate about learning and not particularly the "thing". I've been the guy who has seen my friends play a game that I sucked at and then gone to youtube to learn everything about the game coming back later to be the best at the game a few weeks later. Yes I also learned the Rubiks cube XD
ACTION: Journal about the passions I have currently. Try to think of "do I like this passion because I like learning or I'm I doing this because of another reason".
    - About partying, playing video games, things that are not nessecarily correlated to making progress on your goals. I feel like I've been demonizing going to parties, drinking and gameing. It made me question, do I REALLY like those things or am I simply using my goals as an excuse to NEVER do those things again.
ACTION: Think about If I really like doing those things.
    - Write down 3 take aways from the podcasts I listen to that actually gives me advice or an idea that I could try out. Realise I might need to learn how to put ideas into a system, like building a second brain.
ACTION: Start learning and building a second brain and learn from youtube
LAST ACTION: Put these into my google calender and actually take action! I'm putting in the time for these action points into my calender now :D

My god!, you and many others will fall for just about anything will you? This advice, this conversation in general is old ideas being brought back to make them sound like they are wise and helping you out. You could have know all about this crap years ago if you stop wasting time on social media listening to people who think they know everything that's best for you. The best way to home your craft is to self teach and not waste time watching the advice of others. Educate yourself and make mistakes, that's the secret sauce, vs listening to RUclips people who want to be famous.

@@CompetitionSportsNetwork So tell me how do you get this education you talk about and how do you self-teach without listening to anyone, or reading someone's book or whatever. I am curious. Do you know how people would get education in the past? By watching others do the craft. How is this different? No matter if you listen to someone or not you still need to do your work and it's great if you can have a shortcut with someone else's guidance.

Listened to this one on spotify but came back here to write some of those takeaways that I liked: (had already done it in my notepad but maybe it helps someone + i can add a couple more)
    - Main takeaway was just your energy, you two just seem fired up about the future, have this optimistic, pro-technology, pro-internet, pro-social view of the world. It's cool to see how you two have leveraged the internet for your benefit but also think about others and community
    - "Everybody has a 100k product in their head" i liked that
    - I've had a period of time where I didn't seem to care about anything, all the things I previously cared about I just couldn't bring myself to engage with stuff, get lost in rabbit holes, etc. Probably was just depressed or sth like that. And I think when Dickie said that thing about "It's not that I care about X or Y thing, it's that I care about life" when talking about getting into stuff, I felt that.
    - The "writing the proof of what you wanna become" thing (that doing something that contradicts financially limiting beliefs just to be able to write it on your list of things that make you a financially abundant mindset person)

    My major take aways
    - Stop procrastinating loved the two fishermen story
    - Writing is the fundamental thing that keeps you progressing
    - We all start somewhere and the growth is always dependent on how you wish to be adaptable and successful
    - The identity list is great for helping to be more concise about your big goals

    What a Mountain valley!
What I took away from this is how you highlight that there are a small number of necessary things to do, and a lot of helpful things, that are on their own not sufficient for success (like the diet and getting sleep etc.) with the strict contest to th people on that one party that were drunk but still run huge operations. That shows how much we can forget the many small things that might not fit to us and build our own thing, if we take care of the few things that really count.

    Mountain Valley lmao
    3 Takeaways:
    1. We’re all human and Dickie and Dan are just experimenting with what they love about life and then monetizing it to continue to create, build, progress, and grow.
    2. Self-awareness is the highest level perspective for your life and must constantly be used to see if you’re going in the right direction.
    3. Separation of tasks and limiting distractions breeds clarity and allows you to approach life with more power, input, and creative ability. Keep experimenting with morning, afternoon, and nighttime routines to see what works best for you using self awareness as the compass.
Thanks for sharing this value with us guys 🙏

Mountain Valley - came here through @Ali Abdaal
    My takeaways:
    - 1:25 creator system enables people to solve base problems in their life, which enables them to then start solving creative problems. AI and computers will help get more people to that point
    - 1:27 creator economy will never be over-saturated because creators are constantly growing into different types of content
    - 1:35 education system that matches students to teachers based on teaching style and/or personality type
    - 3:15 you can build everything you want, but not everything, and not more than 3 at once
