I agree. Someone once told me about the difference between learning from anyone, and a Master. Today, I have experienced what the difference is. Thank you Mr. O' Loughlin
I am repeating my 2nd year for IRM, have sat through countless lectures, asked many people and watched a million videos. 4 minutes into this video, and I have finally got itS thank you so so so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Dear Mr. O'Loughlin, I have tried to use chi-square in my forensics class. It has been used, by me, to see if there is a correlation between the medullary structure of animal hairs and nocturnality; which came up as a possible explanation for the differences in medullary structure, by chance, during a lesson. Your explanation is clear and accessible for high school students. Thank you. And, oh yes, the probability for animals that share the characteristic of cell-like structures, walking and running locomotor patterns and nocturnal activity patterns is 10.48. This is well beyond the 7.81 critical value...so further investigation is warranted. Best regards, Linda Brown Bronx, NY
Eugene, I'm a Mathematics teacher in NE England and your online material is fabulous. It is so helpful for students revising for their Psychology & Biology A Levels. Thank you!
Hi Keiron, Many thanks for your kind comments - I'm glad that your students find my videos useful. BTW - I find with my own students that the Chi-square test is one of the most error prone tests that they do - many forget to do the last line (O-E)2/E, and end up summing the wrong data. Warn your students of this! Dr E.
@@EugeneOLoughlin Hi Eugene, Yes, I have also noticed one or two making this error. Thankfully most seem to know what they're doing. As both the psychology & biology A-levels have a 10% maths content, your videos have proven invaluable to these students. Thanks again, Keiron
Before watching the video... i was worried about the test .... now am clearly understood the concepts..... you are so brilliant....... thank you sir.....
Thanks Dr. E. for this lecture. By the way in the Philippines, it has been suggested by the academe that Chi-square (Test for Independence) must be also utilized to determine whether two classification criteria are independent of each other such that we intend to use contingency tables or in market research studies (referred to as the cross-tabs).. :)
Your videos are extremely informative. I'm glad I found your videos. Keep up the good work, and keep uploading more videos. Students like me could always use them.
Wow, I sat through a 2 hour lecture with notes straight out of standard stats book. This was epic! Explained so you understand it, not so you have to burn it into your head. There should be something called "RUclips University". Thanks so much Sir!
I've been trying to figure out how to do the chi-square question on my statistics assignment for two days now. This video cleared it right up and I understand now. Thank you!
thank you thank you so much ...it took my teacher weeks to explain this and i did not understand ...IT TOOK YOU ONLY 7 MINUTES to explain this and i understood ...genius ..thank you sooooo much "-"
You are a Smart Professor, Thank you for posting this video. It helped me gain a thorough understanding of how to do Chi-Square Test by hand. Thank You.
Thank you so much for this video!! It was so helpful the first time I used it that when I forgot your channel name I spent half an hour looking for you!
Omg thank you so much this helped me a lot in ap bio..I’m doing online school and I accidentally slept through my ap class so I had no clue how to do this YOU SAVED ME SO MUCH THIS IS WAY EASIER THAN I THOUGHT
Thank you for this sir. I have not been able to understand this but you have explained it in such a clean and simple way. I commend you for helping us all out
I have my stats exam tomorrow, wish i had discovered your videos a week ago i would've probably done well. Wish you had done a video on the diff between spearmans and pearsons though. Great video regardless!
Dear sir, thank so much for explaining these concepts in such a single straightforward but easy to understand way. You helped saving my grade in stats. It's so difficult to learn in online classes since I can't catch up most times with synchronous classes due to unstable internet connection. But you helped me, a lot. Stay safe!
Thank you for the thorough explanation. It was very helpful. However, at the very beginning , how did you come up with the alpha value =0.05 ? was it given ? or will it be given ? Also, if the X squared value is greater than the critical, will it always reject they hypothesis > Thank you.
The alpha value of 0.05 is the standard value of the significance level. When the significance value is not stated, it is usually assumed that 0.05 will be used. The x^2 value is the statistical value of this test, and therefore, when a statistical value is higher than the critical value, the null hypothesis should always be rejected.
This amazing video taught me chi sqaure in 5 minutes while my professor has been trying to teach us for 5 classes already. You're amazing!
Nice explanation
Imagine having to sift through tons of over complicated and long videos just to find out this gem was here all along. Thank you
