I’ve owned my octotrack for a year and have yet to try this feature. Now that i have a digitone and analog RYTM a lot of the duties I relied on my octotrack for in my setup has been freed up. Now I’m finally making use of its other features as a mixer, external fx sends and of course now I want to try and make use of the looper for mangling or transitioning through to another project. Love this box.

You’ve mentioned that you and a lot of us came from a guitar/ alternative/ rock/ metal background, and that’s something I’ve noticed as well. I think that’s why there have been a lot of incremental improvements and adjustments to keyboards like ROLI, MPE, and aftertouch - because when I first played keys I found myself wiggling my finger around on the keys like I would while playing guitar to modify pitch and add accents. Now there’s a lot of devices that implement that capability.

@@EZBOT_ Speaking of Push 3, which is awesome, I like to use my Digitakt + Syntakt with my MacBook, Live, and Push 2 when I’m doing my hybrid set or at home. It’s excellent with Overbridge. I have 8 individual DT tracks and 12 individual ST tracks I can switch between to play or even stack them by arming multiples of them at a time. I use Live’s external midi devices which have much less latency than simply running them through audio tracks like I see most people do. I love Elektron sequencers but it’s also nice to work with midi clips and automation sometimes. Plus there’s a ton of effects available to me going the hybrid route.

Say I have a drum beat at 120 bpm and I want to record a loop without having the Octatrack change the tempo and instead stick to the beat tempo I have playing already. Is there a way to do that? Thanks for you time

    • @EZBOT_

Yeah, you can set the Octatrack to a fixed length. Than you decide the tempo before hand. You do this in the record menu where you also decide your inputs you're recording. Change it from Max to any number you want 64 or less. Is this what you mean?

I'm having a hell of a time using this machine as a guitar looper. I'm a shitty guitar player, so I need more than a second to prepare. What I do is I set the pattern length and record length both to 64. Then, I set a one-time recording trig on the 33rd step of the sequencer and turn on the metronome. This gives me a count of two bars, then the recording starts. I want the Pickup machine to record the length of the loop ONCE, then stop recording and begin to play the loop back. The only TRIG setting that works this way is HOLD. I'm not sure why that is, but I just roll with it. So I get a 64 step loop this way, but hell if I know how to get it to play if I have to stop the sequencer. It just won't play. Plus, I'm not able to figure out how to overdub on the loop. I've read the manual on the Pickup machines several times and I think I've watched every tutorial about it on YT, but I'm not able to find anything that works. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
