    Driving force GT! That grinding was straight cut gears. I had one. That was either my first or second Logitech wheel. The G29 was my third. It boasted helical cut gears. The grinding noise disappeared. I've got one of the first G29s produced, and that's what I've used for almost 10 years now. People crack on them, but when it hit the market, it was cutting edge. I already had dibs on the first one that landed at Electronics Boutique. No one gives it credit for still being in production after this long, and still selling well. You seem to have some long-term experience with this. Are you familiar with the Interact Ultra racer? Similar to a RC car controller. That's what I started with on day one with the original Gran Turismo. They gave the best control at the time, and they were under $15. That was cheap as hell, even back then. I've never played with sticks. Not once. I've been on a G29 and play seat for a long time, and I've just recently thought about upgrading. Now that Logitech offers a DD, I wouldn't mind upgrading wheel/pedals, but it doesn't really seem worth it if I'm stuck on one monitor. VR is a novelty, not an option. I've tried it, and I can see why no one can wear it more than 30 or 40 minutes. I hate that triple monitor support is on the list of things I can't have on PS5, along with Los Santos mods for ACC.
    I think I spent about $600. You can get the same thing now for about $700. You can't go wrong with a (mid level) Playseat and Logitech. My first Logitech product was a flight stick for PS1 in 1995. They've never disappointed me. Now look into how many people fanatec screwed on Black Friday.
    They're about to open a Micro Center here.. and I'm going to try to stay away from it😂 if I don't see and touch the new stuff, I might stay happy with what I've got.

    Nice informative video!! I love my tgt2 with gt7 and the psvr2, it's a fantastic experience, no way I'm going back to flat screen racing, it's too much of a game changer. My advice if you plan on mainly playing gt7 like me, buy a tgt2 servo base, if possible at a discount or used, tlcm pedals and the 599xx alcantara 30cm wheel. Killer combo at a somewhat reasonable price, and the tgt2 transducer, exclusive to gt7, is awesome.

    One thing I wish I discovered sooner was never apply full throttle in low gears when the steering is more than say 45 degrees. This has enabled me to drive without traction control on GT7. From that starting point I then realised just how much throttle I could get away with if you do go beyond 45 degrees, this massively helps with sharp turns. My next upgrade is the load pedals, my trail braking is crap with the G29 pedals

    • @NeoGeo822

    I'm old retired and have two complete rigs, one for console and one for PC.
    Over the past 2 years I've been buying all the latest Direct drive bases on the market just because I can and want to experience them for my self.
    In the late 90s I was mainly doing flight sims but went full racing Sims in the mid 2000.
    I currently use a fanatec DD1 podium for ps5 and a simucube v2 sport for PC.
    If I where going to recommend a wheel that's good value for money for both PC and console it would be the Logitech Pro. The FFB is spot on and truforce is no joke and is a game changer, the only problem is the pedals although much better than standard pedals.
    If you have a little more money then the fanatec DD1 podium with the CSL elite V2 pedals, I much prefer the modular mode of the CSL elite V2 pedals over the V3's

    Your view and ideas were exact...Sim racing is a hole you can fall down VERY quick, I tried it years ago loved it and have spent $$$ on mistakes or "upgrades" that I thought would benefit me. With the market being as strong as it is now there's sooo many ways to go. I game PS/PC and started out yes I agree go Logitech G923 I believe is the newest version start there see if it's for you first. Pick one up easily secondhand the market is flooded, if you find you do enjoy next thing to look at is yes where your mounting if your upgrading from said Logitech I was dumb I went wheelstand die to space issues but wasn't happy not stable the chair slides when you press on brake whether there's a "tray" or not it lifts... Foldable cockpits again waste of money..2 places you want to focus if you want to start are cockpit/rig and yes pedals, pedals make more of a difference in lap times then base and rim period. Good set of loadcell pedals go miles so that should be looked at when starting, next cockpit but depending on space you have if you have enough dedicated space yes go aluminum profile it's endlessly adjustable and upgradeable..I went the Playseat trophy as well red version and I'm so happy it's got the rigidity sturdiness of 80/20 rigs but also lightweight enough to move out of the way when done. I did go the Fanatec route the at the time offered a F1 podium DD1 which is now disc. but you can find them secondhand and right now id say jump that route before people ram the price up because it's only one that works on PS/PC other then the CSL DD Pro which yes is also a great base 8nm which honestly I set my DD1 at 14 which to me is perfect. Logitechs new direct drive is great but absolutely no ecosystem yet no expandability the wheel you get is the wheel you stay with where Fanatec has a great range of wheels, and 1k for a Logitech setup just is way to high to me, now Thrustmaster just came out with a DD but it's only PC compatible as of now but Thrustmaster has by far the most expansive ecosystem between the 3.

    I have a tgt2 and I have the dd pro and podium dd1 ps4/5 version, and I still use my tgt 2 a lot. I have a dual setup and jump back and forth and the tgt2 is still an excellent base just awkwardly priced too close to the dd pro. I love my Sparco handbrake and shifter and modded h shifter which I can’t use on my fanatec and many tm wheels. If u upgrade from the tgt skip the dd pro go to the dd extreme but there’s nothing wrong with the tgt2 it’s got enough power, gt7 features, ecosystem, spins fast and reacts fast. When I went direct drive I couldn’t part with the tgt so ended up just making a separate setup specifically for it.

    If you have any plans for drifting, make sure you're researching the wheel you're getting for it. Some wheels like the G29 and G923/920 have a slower return rate than say a T300RS. You want a faster return rate/stronger motor so that you'll have a better time. You can still drift with a DFGT/G29/etc but it's not gonna be as good of an experience if you had a T300/Direct drive/etc.

So my Rig was under 400 and is bombproof with tons of adjustability. I would recommend everyone does the same, dont buy that overpriced cockpits they sell everywhere. My cockpit wouldve cost me around 900€+ if i got it from a brand. (but i race only on PC, had allready a 3000€+ pc before getting into simcracing, that helped ofc)

    Get a second hand G29, a simple support and buy harder springs (or even a load cell adapter for those pedals) and that's pretty much it for a beginer. It's the cheaper that you can get with a reasonable performance. And it also works on a playstation. When you really get fast with these setup, you can go for a DD. I still feel that It's hard to evolve only on GT7. Get Assetto Corsa Competizione and do some practice on it, when you start learning how to trail brake, go back to GT7 and you will be able to be fast over there too. If you have a PC, iracing is even better to learn how to brake.

Would you best going for a 4K TV on a sim rig or a gaming monitor? If so, any recommendations? I currently use a Samsung C24F396FHU curved monitor but when I move to a rig, I would like to get a slightly bigger screen, I was thinking 32" as I don't have the room to go bigger than that. Thanks

      @Raes.S  Год назад

      It all depends on personal preference, I myself have a 27” gaming monitor (Samsung G3), which is only 1080P because this was in my budget. I was thinking about upgrading to the G5 or even G9 but then it was announced that the PSVR2 was getting released so I opted for that instead.

      Yes, maybe. But the times and consistency during the race is very similar i think 0.039 difference on dd behalf. Plenty of people measured the lap times. But on psvr2 the transducer is just mindblowing. It is soo cool u forgoting about that, it is just giving u something extra. Gt3(gr3) cars, on race dont need that but still is nice. Ok but when u going to take leasure sunday ride is just 2x better. Dd pro is plain, is nice but it should have transducer as well. Also the wheel on dd pro is very poor, on gt2 also is better to invest in some sparco ring

      I feel it is still very accurate, it all depends on your budget. Now would be the time to buy if you can find a good sale. Direct drive is the way to go if your budget allows it. Belt driven is also a good economical option at this time.

    Hi love the video, did anyone here lose power to the wheel and knows perhaps how to fix it? I recieved my TGT 2 2 days ago. Brand new. It worket for half an hour on GT7 on PS5. Than i tried dirt rally 2.0 and EA WRC. IT wouldnt work. I realised that you have to switch the GT (usb switch i believe) to OTHER for all games other than GT7. I restarted the ps5. While it was off i switched over to OTHER while i unplugged the usb. As described in the manual. Thats when it wouldnt turn on and its been sitting there.
    My game shop offered me a repair, im a bit turned off atm. as I've seen a lot of people with this issue on reddit and other sites.
    Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated. I am uploading a video as we speak. You can go have a look at how i connected it. Maybe im do8ng something wrong. I would like to crack the TGT 2 open and see for my self but that would void my warranty. Im gona try connecting to my pc maybe a software update is needed. I got one of the first ps5 that came out when the shortage was on. Maybe the older ps5. Dont wotk...i dont know anymore.
    Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

      I adjusted my springs for the load cell to match my preferred resistance with a a very small amount of pre load. You want to connect your pedals to a windows computer (with the Thrustmaster application) and fine tune your preferences to get the most out of them.

    Gt7 does not get anywhere near to 120 fps at 4k. To reach that target, the game plays at 1080p and looks significantly worse.

    • @Raes.S
      @Raes.S  Год назад

      I agree with you on that fact that it does look different with 120hz turned on. You can still achieve 4k resolution in 120hz when you use “resolution mode” and “VRR”. Without VRR enabled you are looking at 1440P.

    • @Jamic9
      @Jamic9 Год назад

      @@Raes.S Sorry but you are wrong. When using the Resolution mode with VRR, you do get a full 4k resolution, but with a FPS in the range of 70 to 100, usually on the lower side of that. Because the setting is called 120Hz doesn't mean you're getting 120Hz. Think about it, do you really think a game that looks as good as GT7 can run at a consistent 120 fps whilst maintaining full 4K, without any caveats? VRR isn't a one stop shop that fixes everything. I have a LG C1 120Hz VRR Oled TV and can confirm this. I don't think there has been a single AAA game on the current next gen consoles that can run at 120 fps without some kind of graphical down grade, be it in resolution or other graphical features. There is always a trade off. Also, all of this is confirmed by Digital Foundry in one of their recent videos.

      Great! Thank you for the feedback, I’ve been using the T300 for almost a year now, I think is a nice servo but not strong enough in some games. I play F1 a lot, the T300 sometimes lacks is power and grip with the road. So I’m trying to do good research on this TGT II and see if it’s worth upgrading to another belt system. Ultimately will be better option to go with a DD drive but I already got all my Thrustmaster gear.
      Thank you again

  • @CrashD6
    @CrashD6 4 месяца назад +2

    Tip 1: If budget is a problem, a used Logitech wheel keeps the same strength as a new one, these wheels are very reliable.
    Tip 2: If you want to get something slightly better for semi serious racing or you enjoy sim racing and doesn't want to break the bank, the T300RS GT is your best bet, you get the "affordability" of a Logitech wheel with an actual ecosystem to back it up, shifters, handbrakes, different sets of pedals to choose, decent quality and quite affordable. Also console compatibility.
    Tip 3: If you really want to get competitive, go for a PC, for wheels, the Moza R5 or Cammus C5. Moza has a full ecosystem and it's one of the most affordable in the market right now, the Cammus C5 is the absolute cheapest direct drive wheel right now, but they don't have a full ecosystem right now.

    • @goldar2001
      @goldar2001 4 месяца назад

      I’m in the boat of either going for the MOZA set up with R5 and GS wheel vs the Fanatec Clubsport F1 wheelbase combo that’s already compostable with ps5? Which would you recommend?

    • @CrashD6
      @CrashD6 4 месяца назад

      @@goldar2001 Depends on your budget and platform of choice. If you have a PC and a low budget, the R5 is a no brainer, but if you have a PS4/5, then you are stuck with Fanatec for a DD base, however...
      There are some considerations to make, the only "exclusive" worth the PS compatibility is GT7, which some say it's a simcade or not a full sim, it's still a great game, and, it might come to PC as Sony intends to release the PSVR2 on PC along with some VR games to boot, GT7 may or may not be in the list.
      For PC you have *the freedom of choice, Moza has pretty much all the bells and whistles that Fanatec has but way cheaper, and, if you truly care about PS compatibility, there's a device called Ras1ution that gives PS compatibility with most wheels on the market, they have full compatibility with the Moza lineup but it's a little pricey and not that "plug n play" compared to normal compatible wheels. Meaning that, if Moza updates their software, you'll have to update the software on the device as well.

      Sorry buddy you're on your own and wrong if you think the Thrustmaster belt drive system is "superior than fanatec" by which I'm assuming you meant Thrustmaster's belt drive is better than direct drive. I had Thrustmaster's TS-PC for years and I liked it, it is the same motor and belt drive system as the PlayStation version but lacks the GT only transducer and the massive price tag. I preferred it to Fanatec's belt drive wheelbases. Compared to a direct drive wheelbase, from any manufacturer I've had experience of, belt drives feel slower to react because they are slower to react, a consequence of the dampening effect of the belt drive system. It's not a massive difference, less important than a good set of pedals, but when it comes to catching slides or snap oversteer, it's a big difference. With a direct drive wheelbase, catching slides etc is instinctive, not a big deal or hard won skill, gained thru hours of practice. Given the availability of good quality direct drive wheelbases that come in at lower prices than the PlayStation flavour Thrustmaster, it would be a very odd choice to go with the belt driven Thrustmaster or any other belt drive.
