What you have is a not original high boy but a very good looking truck. I had a 77.5 copper and white xlt ranger. High boys had drum front brakes. 351m were only available after 77.5 which is not a highboy. The cab on the truck is 75 or older gas tank was in the frame rail after 75 with exterior caps 77.5 had fuel doors 2wd 73 had gas tanks in the frame rails with exterior caps. So if you do a married transfer case with that cab it will hit the cab when you go over bumps. Once again nice truck and i have several and have a really clean 79
Your wrong in on a few things They built the highboy unit march of 1977 This truck was built in 11/76 It still has the narrow frame the reason for the tank behind the seat 351m was available for the last 77 highboys The 76-77 had disc brakes and open knuckle from axles They ran out of highboy beds with no fuel tank door at the end so they just put a dummy plate in Basically it has all the good stuff with the exception of the engine
@C_CEQUIPMENT You are correct that high boys were not after made 77.5 I have never seen a 351m divorced transfer case Never seeen a 76 with a gas tank behind the seat I wish i could send you a picture of my 79 Once again a damn good looking truck
I have a 77 F250 high boy. With the 351 modified engine, divorced transfer case, gas tank was behind the seat . Changed it to 68 429 with a 75 Ford Bronco tank.
Sir: The high boy has absolutely always been a favorite Ford for me. The 460 will be a monster achiever and Hunter will have a true gem. I love your channel and wait eagerly for each new one!! Thank you Clint!! Scott
The lesson the young man is learning is how to be a Man, patience respect, and how to be methodical are traits to be used in all aspects of LIFE ! Great job here as parents. The truck will also be an accomplishment to be fully proud of. My Dad did the same for me and I did for mine. Great family values and moral code. I rarely comment, so this truly is special to see, thank you for sharing. Gary
Hunter and Tucker are very fortunate toto have the parents they do? Mom tries to keep them away from Sausage fingers and on the right path, LOL? Dad is teaching them knowledge that he has built up through the years. What a fantastic pair. Thank you for taking us along again.
Man i love the way you and your wife are taking the younger generation under the wing and teaching them true life lessons on what you have to do to make a great living in this world. So proud of you Hunter and Tucker. The best videos every.
The people i admire are the ones that do this level of work at home. Its easy to do this with professional equipment and what appears to be nearly unlimited funds. This video is very useful. It is basically a list of what is needed and what is not needed but very desirable. These old trucks do need updated to survive in this age of bad fuel and Chinese parts. The original beds and cabs were made of better sheetmetal than can be had from after market suppliers today. Good job on preserving the look and quality of this old truck!
It's great to see generations working and teaching together. These boys are learning life long knowledge. Mr. C you have learned patience and are now passing along some of the best father/son memories. It's great to see families working together. Great videos also.
I worked at the plant that made that OTC Revolver engine stand. I was always impressed with the heft and precision of the product. I don't see how anyone could break it or wear it out. Should last forever.
Thanks for the update, makes perfect sense to change out things when your that deep into a rebuild on the truck. Nice job Hunter, be a nice ride when you get it finished.
Hunter may not realize it, but he’s living some of the best days of his life right now. My dad was in the service station business growing up and we spent many nights and weekends fixing up my first vehicle. It was a ‘76 FJ40. The body was perfect, but the straight six was roached. We slid a 350 in it’s place. Had tons of fun working on it together and driving it. Sold it later in life and it has been one of my biggest regrets. Tell Hunter to think long and hard before selling this truck in the future.
LOl 😂, I'm 69 yrs old, and I'm learning along with Hunter! I guess you're never too old to learn 😂. Thanks again Guys for a great video! You're friend The Old VT Logger
I had a bit of experience with the 460 in the past, what ever you do get replacement rod bolts (ARP). I had an engine built for my inlaws, the shop that built the engine did not complete the bore on one cylinder. It knocked from the start up. They (the shop) pulled it apart and found their mistake. But after pulling that piston out and finishing the bore they reused the rod bolts. After all it had run less than 5 min. The engine lasted 1100 miles, rod bolt pulled down through the rod destroyed the engine broke the cam and crank put a hole through the side and out the pan. I was never so happy I did not do the build on that lincoln motor.
That is going to be a real nice truck. My day (a few years earlier than Clint's day) when we were Connor's age, we all wanted to bore everything 0.30 over, balanced and blueprinted, (we didn't even know what that meant) high rise manifold with polished intake ports, competition cam, dual holly 4 barrels, supercharged, headers of course, Goodyear T/A's, Cragar rims, and metal flake paint. Fun times.
Clint, I just pointed out your son, Hunter to my daughter. She made the comment to me that he looks a lot like her son (my grandson), Hunter. Of course, I have been thinking along the same lines ever since I first heard (and saw) your sons name. My grandson was born in November of 2001 and is now serving in the US Navy, out in San Diego. I enjoy watching your vids and the variety of the different equipment that you work on. Keep up the great content.
When I turned 16 my dad and completely tore down a 1976 Chevy pickup to the frame and redid it for me to drive. Lots of hard work over 18 months but it was a great time and learning experience. These videos are bringing back great memories.
That HD44 Front axle with disk brakes and the big hubs seems rare to me. All I ever seen for those big hubs were closed knuckle drum setups. Nice ol Ford!
great dad & mom, and the people that work there...the kids are learning a great trade, looking at the boys they work hard, and this what they get in return,...hard work leads to good things
It’s so good to see father and so working together like this. He’s learning a great skill set. Not many younger people are willing to get their hands dirty and learn something like automotive restoration. It’s also great to see y’all keeping a classic on the road. Waiting to see what y’all have in store for the motor.
I hope your two boys listen and pay attention to everything you are teaching them because one day it will pay off for them big time. Love your content.
A guy I graduated with from high-school, his graduation present was a 1973 F100/150 with a 460 auto & locker. He put Indy tires on the rear to help with traction. He smoked tires for a LONG WAYS. It was a regular cab, long bed.
You think you had a problem removing the distributor! The distributor on my 91 F450 was seized in the block. Soaked it for three weeks with various penetrating oil but no go. Tried jacking it out carefully with a bearing splitter and a air hammer shocking it. No go. Of course it eventually broke off about 2 inches above the block. Removed the top portion of the housing and drilled larger and larger holes in the base until I could break it into pieces and wiggle them out. Finally able to remove the shaft and the remainder of the housing. The internet says that happens quite often!
351M are pretty heavy, A 460 with aluminum heads and intake will be close to the same weight as a iron headed, iron intake 351m, may even be a few pounds lighter.
This good instructors help young sons thump up,I got same with own dad give knowledge about what going on sure engine need TLC right.thanks video good report.
great to see you working with your son, now that he's learning the serious part of mechanical work Kevin needs to teach him how to do it with a sense of humour, he looks so serious working on his truck, great video 👏👏👏👍👍👍👌👌👌
Clint, you doing a great job teaching your boys about an awesome trade! Mom is awesome as well! I look forward to watching the upcoming videos. Take care and I’ll see y’all down the road…
Once a start is made on stripping a car down it seems it may be just as easy to do it all so you know how things stand - like starting from a new beginning - well done Hunter hanging in there, it will be worth it in the end. Crocks and work are not ideal - son't know why we do it.
Hey Clinton you seem more excited in the engine rebuild than Hunter ,but I guess Dad's still a kid at heart yeh.Cant wait to see the rebuild outcome video,s ,oh and that was a nice burn out to Kym Adelaide
I had a '74 Club Cab Camper Special one time what had the same color scheme. Had the turnin' radius of Noah's ark. but I loved that ole truck. Ya'll got a peach here!
I'm still loving this series and look forward to the upcoming videos. I hope Hunter is able to keep this truck til he can work on it with his future son or daughter someday.
Clint, I really like watching you and your Son Hinter working together rebuilding that awesome truck. It's definitely going to be a really nice one to drive around during summer months. Given It's body and frame condition there's absolutely no way it should be driven with salt on the roads. That would be a friggen sin. Can't wait to see the engine reassembly episode with all the new goodies going in. That High Boy is gonna be real popular with Hinter's friends. He's either going to need a folding 1 step stoo for girls to use to get in or have a long legged girlfriend if he's got time for one.
Sadly, I know those trucks like the back of my hand. Back when they were all over the place is when I was wrenching in the field. I also have the tool that removes and replaces the brake shoe hold down springs.
In Canada Ford calls this a qauilty remanufactured engine. The last time I did one it took 4 engines to get one that one that would kind of run. I remember when that high boy was in the show rooms.

Ford used same rear wheel cylinders 1948-1997 on F series pick ups

Hunter is one lucky kid! Working with a knowledgeable dad, a great shop, financial support… the stuff of memories!
Man i love the way you and your wife are taking the younger generation under the wing and teaching them true life lessons on what you have to do to make a great living in this world. So proud of you Hunter and Tucker. The best videos every.
Thanks. We are extremely proud of how hard they work even when they don’t want too ❤ thanks for watching the boys :)
Thank yall for making it worth watching.

That’s great father and son time plus Clint is going to get a lot of labor out of this job lol.
That gopro makes your ceiling fan sound like a hurricane....😂
Thanks for the videos!

Crocs on for safety
and
Safety second
😂
Lol
I absolutely love and enjoy you working with your sons. That is showing them the best work ethics.😊 Thank you for sharing.😊
I think it's a great thing that you work so well with your sons and you are a very good teacher to them 😊
That HD44 Front axle with disk brakes and the big hubs seems rare to me. All I ever seen for those big hubs were closed knuckle drum setups. Nice ol Ford!
Nice Friday family project video. Y'all make me smile.
Really nice when Dad can help

Looks like a very nice rebuild.
Thank you gentleman.
I did a frame up rebuild on a 75 F250 high boy back in the 80’s
Who would have thought a miss would turn into a complete restoration! Lol
It's good to see your boys working on their own vehicle and learning. They will appreciate their vehicle and also learn a trade. Thanks for the videos
Project is going great, can’t wait to see the 460 build! I have been wanting to do this same project to my 76 Chevy 4x4!
Good year for gears! That's going to be one awesome truck when y'all are finished!
I hope your two boys listen and pay attention to everything you are teaching them because one day it will pay off for them big time. Love your content.

How lucky! This young man is! Great teamwork! Family time! Mom, checking every once in a while! Awesome! Video! Thanks for sharing! 👌👍
Timing set is definitely aftermarket. The OE set would have a fiber tooth cam gear.
I have a 85 F250 with 1 ton everything with a 79 460 block bored 40 over
Loved the music on the time lapse
Great stuff guys it should be very reliable for a good few years. The onsite training these boys are getting is second to none bro. Safe travels. Ken.
I'm still loving this series and look forward to the upcoming videos. I hope Hunter is able to keep this truck til he can work on it with his future son or daughter someday.

My first car was a 68 Buick skylark. Needed a transmission. Loved that car.
Changed tranny in feb Ohio. Had to come in every 29min to defrost fingers.
Clint, maybe you could since you got it all torn down, convert the rear axle to disk brakes. more stopping power.
Sadly, I know those trucks like the back of my hand.
Back when they were all over the place is when I was wrenching in the field.
I also have the tool that removes and replaces the brake shoe hold down springs.
Bring it on ready for the next video. Love the old Ford Trucks. Thanks for sharing 👍
This truck will be on the the road for another 50 yrs
In Canada Ford calls this a qauilty remanufactured engine. The last time I did one it took 4 engines to get one that one that would kind of run. I remember when that high boy was in the show rooms.
Good luck with your project Hunter nice truck
That truck is going to be awesome
Clinton, you need the little fuzzy cover for your mic, the fan above is making waves in the audio. Great video, teach those boys as much as you can.
