I just purchased a 2021 Stelvio with 32K miles on it. It was a lease return that is in great shape. I understood going in that the car didn't have the sports package so no column shifter paddles nor a LSD in the rear - those can and will be added later though. What I liked cosmetically is that it has the unique Verde Visconti metallic green paint with a brown leather interior - a great color combo! Also this Stelvio has the 20" alloy wheels, and keeps all the chrome touches/accents which I prefer. This is my first modern Alfa, though I've had plenty 'vintage - pre-1995' models. Handling and performance are as advertised and I'm really happy with this purchase. I needed the practicality/space of a SUV, otherwise I would have been looking to buy a Giulia. I also considered a Jaguar F-Pace, but the slightly smaller Alfa fit my purposes better, handles better than the Jag, but truthfully the Jag wasn't too far behind + the Jag is a bit more luxurious. But then again, I couldn't be showing up at the local Alfa club meeting with the Jag, so the fix was in on the Stelvio!

I don't take discounts into account. Today there's a discount, tomorrow there isn't. Apparently in Poland they were handing out Alfas with every pack of Lays chips, and people stopped buying chips to avoid getting an Alfa :-)
My Stelvio Veloce ended up costing over 80k (71k with discounts) ...because I've added almost every extra there was to add. But in the end, I don't prefer the German counterparts in terms of luxury, only their infotainment. I prefer the high quality real leather I have all around and I prefer the comfy quiet ride the Stelvio offers (when not in Dynamic).

It is pretty expensive nowadays, as most cars became due to semiconductor shortage. But i think you can find a great deal every now and then. I bought my 2019 280 giulia veloce in 2020 new with 36900 eur and most options (except adaptive cruise, panoramic roof and rear heated seats).
I got a 2019 in viscounti green for my wife because I wanted something different from all the German stuff. She had boy friend now because it turns heads and I can wait for her get home from work so I could for to the grocery store it’s a drivers car.
Some odd points made in this review - I’ve owned one for over 2 years and it’s a superb car - any limitations are massively outweighed by the driving dynamics and pleasure
tested last week same Stelvio. I liked it a lot, the price is good, but I can’t buy a car with top spec with Bi-Xenon lights, having in view that I drive daily cars with Multibeam in the last 6 years. I’m waiting for the model with LED lights
I was a bit skeptical of the xenon myself, but it doesnt really matter. A lot of people do just fine with halogen. As long as the road is being lit properly by the headlights, why would it matter?
@@lucianepure504 I agree, theit bi xenon are not even “smart”. Fot the sake of god, even nissan quasqhuai (whatevet it spelled) gen2 had bi-led headlights as an option. Latest and greatest headlights should be standard in all makets where you have sizable widlifw, like moos, 4 seasons with winter where it gets dark around 15:00. Great lights is safety. And the car as tested is at 60K EUR, its not cheap.
I am leasing a VW Tiguan which costs almost the same (2.0 TSI 245 PS 4Motion all available optionals), it has less power, it is slightly smaller but it is better built and has a terrific infotainment and ADAS. I would have loved to get the Stelvio, really. So, why is the Stelvio not sitting in my garage? Well the price of the car does not tell much, in fact the leasing fees for a Stelvio are much higher than the leasing fees of an equally priced Tiguan, this because the Stelvio residual value is lower, so I would have had to adsorb the depreciation myself. Sorry Alfa, maybe next time...
@@goranjuric3539 I own a bicycle, but I cannot carry wife and dog in it, believe me I tried. The point is that probably I am not a good enough driver to understand the "driving pleasure", so I went for comfort and practicality.
I do hope the fad for SUVs dies at some point in the future. But as you said, this is at least sporty rather than just a hatchback on stilts. Creaking backrests .... ah, traditional Italian quality. Looks great, will fall to pieces within a few short years.
OK, after watching your video about Tonale PHEV and this one, I am sure... you are an Alfa hater. Never mind, not all the people can value the beauty and the human centred drive pleasure.
Guess all the reviewers like the excessive droning of the engine under full throttle - while at the same time they complain about the noise a hybrid engine develops under the same circumstances....
There's a difference between the noise involving a conventional gearbox, and the noise the engine makes with CVT. At constant speed it doesn't matter, but the sound of acceleration with CVT is unpleasant, and it is difficult to judge the acceleration.
I honestly don't like how the Stelvio looks and even if I did, I can't afford one. My T-Roc is slow, but very economical and practical enough to cover my needs.
@@MarekDrivesENG I first noticed it when I was cleaning the seats but honestly no one sits back there except my dog so I just ignore it. I did get it secondhand but never told the dealer about this issue.

I was in love with my Giulia and Alfa Romeo as a brand, however, I will never again buy/recommend another Alfa Romeo in my life. I had the brake by wire system fail on me and it caused me to crash and total the car. They sent someone from Bosch to diagnose the vehicle and in the charts it clearly showed that something malfunctioned (brakes were slammed 2 seconds before the impact at 40 MPH and it took more than 1.5 seconds for the speed to start going down.) Stellantis told me that they were not going to take responsibility for it and that I needed to have my insurance pay for the vehicle. Absolute garbage. I will never recommend this car brand to anyone again! Buy an AUDI, BMW or Mercedes instead.

I barely see stelvios cause of the price point.i hope in stellantis group will consider bringing back smallest alfas like mito . giullieta with more down to earth prices so people can buy them...I dont think 60K for stelvio is the real deal no matter how i love alfa and their driving experience..i am waiting you to review tonale as well when its out🙃
It is pretty expensive nowadays, as most cars became due to semiconductor shortage.
Some odd points made in this review - I’ve owned one for over 2 years and it’s a superb car - any limitations are
massively outweighed by the driving dynamics and pleasure
Hope you manage to do a review of the AR Tonale MHEV Marek
I've driven it briefly at a launch event. It's mediocre. I'm waiting for the PHEV in hope it's going to be better.
Why you haven’t chosen Cupra Formentor as your daily @marek?
I can't have anything VW or I wouldn't hear the end of it :)
tested last week same Stelvio. I liked it a lot, the price is good, but I can’t buy a car with top spec with Bi-Xenon lights, having in view that I drive daily cars with Multibeam in the last 6 years. I’m waiting for the model with LED lights
very nice presentation, as always
Thanks! The headlights on this aren't bad, but I understand why you want to wait for the better ones.
I was a bit skeptical of the xenon myself, but it doesnt really matter. A lot of people do just fine with halogen. As long as the road is being lit properly by the headlights, why would it matter?
@@livolas if you drive a car with LED Laser, inteligent lights, you will not ever wish to return to bixenon. Xenon and halogen is in an other era
Hi Marek, what car do you drive?
ruclips.net/video/UNEbwIhQFBE/видео.html
so what is the car you chosse insted?
ruclips.net/video/UNEbwIhQFBE/видео.html
A wet dream not an SUV dear Marek.
I wouldn't mind the Quadrifoglio, but not as a daily :)
You should drive bicycle insted of tiguan.. That way you will keep all the money and preserve the absence of driving pleasure ; )
@@goranjuric3539 I own a bicycle, but I cannot carry wife and dog in it, believe me I tried. The point is that probably I am not a good enough driver to understand the "driving pleasure", so I went for comfort and practicality.
Price tag is too high. Rear reminded me of Infiniti FX mk2
I like the instrument cluster and physical buttons
if you didnt buy it Marek, what did you buy?
ruclips.net/video/UNEbwIhQFBE/видео.html
I shouldn't watch this now when I'm interested for A4 Allroad.
Fiat and Chrysler Corp famous for their reliability , that is why bsb many people quit buying a guess
I do hope the fad for SUVs dies at some point in the future. But as you said, this is at least sporty rather than just a hatchback on stilts. Creaking backrests .... ah, traditional Italian quality. Looks great, will fall to pieces within a few short years.
Alfa Romeo Tonale ..when ?
It's just been announced. Probably in autumn.
track from 0.20s?
Stock music from Artlist.
OK, after watching your video about Tonale PHEV and this one, I am sure... you are an Alfa hater.
Never mind, not all the people can value the beauty and the human centred drive pleasure.
Almost purchased today it was 2022 model ,after i checked car fax , it was lemon, thanks but not for me
nice intro music! It's like I walked into a gay bar!
( i don't know i heard)
Guess all the reviewers like the excessive droning of the engine under full throttle - while at the same time they complain about the noise a hybrid engine develops under the same circumstances....
There's a difference between the noise involving a conventional gearbox, and the noise the engine makes with CVT. At constant speed it doesn't matter, but the sound of acceleration with CVT is unpleasant, and it is difficult to judge the acceleration.
I honestly don't like how the Stelvio looks and even if I did, I can't afford one. My T-Roc is slow, but very economical and practical enough to cover my needs.
Coming from a guy that drives a Mini, lol
A much better car, than the Alfa :)
8:20. My car also does that.
What did the dealer have to say about it? Unless you got it second hand.
@@MarekDrivesENG I first noticed it when I was cleaning the seats but honestly no one sits back there except my dog so I just ignore it. I did get it secondhand but never told the dealer about this issue.
Resale value will probably be terrible in the U.S. Best to get the Macan for much better resale value, quality, and features. Or save a lot of money and get a Mazda CX-5 Signature.
I love your final comment.. “It’s the ….”
Fab review and the looks nice but I am not liking the fuel consumption or that dashboard, sorry FIAT……… I mean Alpha
You dont brake in alfas brakes are only for Notfall..
cuz i don't have the money? @marekdrives, in 2022's market, for a fam of 3, what car do u recomant at 20k EUR? ( No 1l bullshit )
Sounds like KIA Ceed SW is what you need. There's a 1.5L. Or Mazda if you want to go all out 2L.
ford focus 1.5 ti-vct (naturally aspirated)
hyundai i30 1.5 dpi (naturally aspirated too)
The entrainment the back is awful. The dirt is not only on the sideskirt but also higher
I,d buy a stelvio, but it’s ergonomics are too flawed, and the interior suddenly looks dated
My Mazda is just as fun but more durable and cheaper.
I also think the CX 5 is more sexy looking.
Thanks a lot for letting us know what happened with break by wire system…
Speak with a lawyer straight away. He (or she) knows very well what to do with the representative, they may give you another car even if they don’t want to.
@@Panagiotis_Pap I actually tried to sue them, but every attorney I talked to sad that they cannot do anything about it unless someone died or was paralyzed. I was actually shocked to hear that. I was 100 percent sure I would be able to get something out of them because of this. Sadly no though :(
Aren't You tired of copy/paste this comment at almost every Giulia test? Insurance is just exactly for that - to pay when something bad happen (of course, all according the law).
S...t happens - You think Alfa is the one and only which cannot fail? There are brands much more "premium" and they fail - it is just plain probability - there is 50000 so 1 is a failure,
someone can buy it = it is You - Yes, it is awful, totally agree - but this is life (more awful, someone can die! Yes, it is hard but this is how the world is working right now).
Mercedes, Audi, BMW You say - do You want me to believe that they cannot fail, OMG! This is serious?
Wake up! This is new world - everything can fail (almost always in the worse time - Murphy's Law).
@@willknott9245 No, he is not tired to copy/paste, he just did what he should do. I was ready to go for the Giulia but this is the second event (I’ve read) having to do with the faulty “brake by wire” system. The first one, was with a Stelio driver in Australia. I am disabled, and I have to be extremely safe. I think, Alfa should stop using “brake by wire” system and have a normal one instead, like all other cars.
Alfa stayed but Romeo has gone!!!!
