Alfa need more dealerships and more advertising. BMW builds an incredibly competent, high quality vehicle. However you FEEL nothing. Alfa Romeo gives up a small amount in lux and tech but you gain in driving EMOTION. Life is short; enjoy while you are here....

@@kiddt1999 I got sideswiped at a red light in studio city. Car was totaled. Decided to try out an Audi e-tron. I would totally get another stelvio, I just like to try different things.
I've always liked Alfa Romeo as a car full of style and high performance, with this SUV they hit the mark with my tastes, hearing the (real) exhausts in the green Quadrifoglio model is a sensory experience.
love that you do the cabin noise test! Man this is so important for me. I always make sure to get the most silent tires as well. makes the ride so much more comfortable.
However we don’t know what kind of tyres these cars have. Losing or gaining less than one dB is not difficult at all just with different brands/type of tyres.....
The Stelvio performed slightly better than the Q5 in the riding noise department. I suspect it could best also the X3 if the test had been done at a regular higher speeds. In the city, the usually noise from the engine / exhaust that usually Alfa owners prefer to hear, might make the results less positive.
Alfa all day long. It’s a work of art on wheels, whereas the BMW blends in more with the rest. The driving dynamics of the Stelvio is bar none as well, and yes I have driven them.
Another slightly biased review and here's why: - If you add the "M" package to the X3, the price are not similar. - I kept hearing the Stelvio is a smaller SUV. But the truth is that on the outside, both have similar dimensions (the BMW is 2,1 cm longer, the Alfa is 1,2cm wider). I guess the italian design of the Stelvio helps hiding its dimensions. I've seen this mistake many times. - I don't know how you measure boot space over there. In Europe, the Stelvio has 525Lts of boot space against BMWs 550Lts. Is 4% enough to make that difference? All the mentioning of space is nonsense. - To keep calling small SUV to the Stelvio, the reviewer should do the same with it's similar size competitors like the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Merc GLC, Volvo XC60, etc. - The fail moment with the lift gate, is because Stelvio's sensor is in the center of the car and then the car waits for us to step back. If you don't step back, it doesn't open. - I kept hearing we can also get more sporty features in the BMW (M package). But then it should also have been mentioned that we can also have more luxury on the Alfa Romeo as well if you go for the lusso interiors with wood finishing. Here's an example of the Lusso interior: i.pinimg.com/originals/10/2e/0d/102e0d516925b4679848cdc4c9418e15.jpg - The Stelvio also offers wireless charging. - "We know they're not the most reliable cars, that's for sure." That's not factual information, that's ear saying and that's only the general opinion, but it's not true. If anyone wants to know about true reliability figures in the car industry, try to get your hands into fleet maintenance costs and downtime data from car leasing companies. I promise, many would be surprised. - For a interior noise comparison, both cars should have been measured in the highway at a constant speed in a high gear. It's the aerodynamic noise that counts. An Alfa Romeo driver typically prefers to hear a bit more from the engine. I agree that the infotainment on the BMW is superior.
I totally agree with your comment. Another note is that also Alfa can move the apps around on the screen. Vocal control is not great I agree, but if I push the button to activate it I might as well push the button the triggers the desired function, in my opinion. The final verdict favors the Alfa, however I didn’t see the right emphasis on the mechanical features. It does have a better engine, but what about suspension? What about carbon transmission shaft? What about all aluminum body panel ? What about the razor sharp steering? All these features cost way more than a questionable infotainment system and are responsible for the much better driving experience. I heard no mention of this. Reliability: maybe it helps to remind that in the UK they found Giulia and Stelvio”s reliability better than most German makes. And also here on RUclips I read hundreds of comments from owners of these cars that are more than happy in this side. Personally I had two Stelvio as company cars. First one was MY2019, the current is a MY2020 Veloce. Both Diesel. No reliability issues, apart from the first one being a bit choosy with the ADBlue (needed for the diesel to be compliant with latest regulation). The newer one had no issues at all. In the company there are 4 Stelvio and none had issues while the wiser colleagues who went for more reliable German cars had small or big issues that required servicing. As a final note, I had to drive a BMW X2 for a few months while I was waiting for the new Stelvio, delayed by the Covid. Even though I’m well aware it’s a different platform, I didn’t find all these qualities people go on talking about. I even had a serious failure to the braking system that required immediate service. The Bluetooth would disconnect at least once every two days and required removing and new pairing of my iPhone. The driver”s sun visor doesn’t have a light. The automatic gear was lazy at downshifting..... So all in all not a bad car but nothing so great. I couldn’t wait to drive may Stelvio again. It’s fun, comfortable, safe and reliable with a great build quality. A customer of mine who drives an M4 said a great phrase: “great car! If it had a BMW badge on it, competitors wouldn’t sell any more SUV”. In my opinion this says it all.....
I recently bought a Stelvio and it love because it’s so different , attractive and it’s not expensive! I have driven a Beamer and it was nothing special and was a lot of headaches. It’s Alfa Romeo for me👍🏽
I agree with you, the Stelvio is the better SUV. If more people drove them and knew about cars the way you do, they'd reach the same conclusion. I have owned 2 Giulia's since 2017 and now own a Stelvio. I have had zero problems with any of the 3 Alfa's. The 2.0 engine with 280 bhp is plenty quick and the handling is superb. Great review, the X3 is a great SUV as well, but the Alfa is better.
just wanted to point out how much Sam smiles while in the Stelvio. A nice car It's all about this, putting a smile in your face and that comes from the feeling you get while driving it, not from the size of the screen which is only exciting when you see the car at the dealership. Great review though!
I'm so grateful for all you guys out there buying Alfas keeping such a legendary brand alive, not all is super hype tech and fancy interior and Alfa is a brand for people there likes POUR SANGS like my Italian grandaddy use to say,and not may brands like that left in the in the world
Just traded my 2014 X5 for a 2023 Stelvio Veloce & I’m thrilled by the belated decision! X3, Q5, Mecan are all so dull, whereas the Alfa is a sleeper & so fun to drive. And it’s cheaper & rarer too. Get one, you won’t be disappointed!
What year and mileage did you buy it at? I can’t make my mind up because all the bad reliability reviews can’t make my mind up from a 2018 algae Romero stelvio jaguar f pace or BMW X3
@@LiveOutYourDreamsTV if you want absolute reliability get a Lexus NX or an Infiniti. neither of these cars are going to be that reliable. that said, my 2018 Stelvio sport has been reliable, no problems other than the in car entertainment sometimes takes a long time to pair to phones.
Alfa is 'organic' in appearance. BMW, Audi, M-B are boxier and not visually appealing at all. I recently tested an Audi, almost bought it, happy I did not. I was overwhelmed by the computer screen. Ordered the Alfa, loaded, happy I did. The Alfa's a driver's machine, and not a platform for screens, readouts etc..02
My Giulia has been amazing over 3 years. The seats are some of the best at any price! Looking for the wife, we tested a Model Y and the quality was just horrendous. The hatch wouldn't close and there was wind coming in everywhere. Almost certainly going to get a Stelvio instead.
Stelvio all the way, keep it with the Alfa family 😊 my wife always asks to take out my 2020 Stelvio Ti Sport over her Rav 4 hybrid for family outings. But for obvious reasons both are very different in comparison for driving experiences.
The BMW is the sensible choice, but who wants sensible, you have one life, live it here the noise, the passion, the soul,Alfa Stelvio every time,BMW,great car,but lacking the something spark.
I own a Stelvio, my wife had the Giulia, we traded the Giulia for a BMW. In Colorado there is only 1 Alfa dealer, and it's 45 miles away which makes it very difficult to get them serviced. As of this minute, my Stelvio has been at the dealer for 2 weeks, and I waited 4 weeks for the appointment to have the heater blower motor replaced because it has a squeak. It is still under full factory warranty. We love the Alfa brand, but Alfa doesn't seem to want to sell cars in this country. Unless they open additional dealers, I will not consider another Alfa in the future.
I went from a brand new 2016 x5 to a 2019 stelvio sport. Granted as far as interior the stelvio is smaller trunk space and a little less rear seat clearance. But the rear seat clearance is not bad. I'm 6 feet 1 inch and I can fit fine in the stelvio rear seat without the front passenger having to move his seat uncomfortably forward. I think the biggest difference is trunk space. Unless you are going to use it for road trips and your family is more than 3 people, I don't think you will notice the space difference. AS far as driving I think the stelvio drives better than the bmw. BMW you can get fatter wheels, which I wish the stelvio would offer the fatter wheels of the quadrafolio as an option for the regular model. I think it would handle better, but as it is it has great handling. Front seat space is equal to what you would get from an x5, for it being a smaller car, it doesnt feel that way when you sit in it.
That’s why I’m going with the Guilia. I hate X3 because people always assume X5 wasn’t in the budget. The BMW 330i which is the Guilia’s competition gets more respect.
I wish more people would buy or lease Alfa rather than just type Alfa in youtube videos like this one. The sales numbers tell a different story. The BMW sell a ton, the Alfas not selling so much. Perhaps a lack of dealerships and marketing has something to do with it
In my opinion there’s also another reason. Germans made in the past decades really good cars and now they live on that reputation. FCA and Alfa in particular used to be terrible on this (not the engine, usually really good, but the overall quality) and now most people still think the new Alfa are the same. Nothing so wrong. Unfortunately, nowadays any piece of crap that says made in Germany sells with no problem. If it’s made in Italy then it has to prove twice it’s better or at least at the same level. An example outside of automotive ? I have two induction cooktops in my house. One from ikea, made in Italy (probably whirlpool). Ome is Bosch made in almighty Germany. Two years use on both. The Bosch is fried, the other still running flawlessly ......
At 1:00 I'm already concerned....to make the comparison "fair" you want to add the "M" Poser package to the BMW which adds bigger brakes, TONS OF POSER BADGES, and an INLINE 6 Cylinder Engine !!! As well as bumping up the price about $4600 USD to the price !!! "Fair" means 4 cylinder vs 4 cylinder where the ALFA BLOWS AWAY the UBOAT in HP !!!
I have a 2018 Stelvio with 50K miles on it. I've been actively looking at different model SUV's and I must say I think I'll buy another Alfa. Nothing really compares to it in it's price range in my opinion.
At 13:48....The seats of the BMW look nice and all but that dash is so convoluted !!! Boxes and squares and rectangles and an iPad thrown on top as an afterthought and the wood is nice but shiny black plastic ? That's Kia territory.....Sorry mate..the Stelvio is way cleaner and sleeker...
I’ve been trying to figure out what’s the best option to buy used the reliability is what’s been holding me back 1. Alfa Romeo stelvio ti sport 2.BMW x3 M40I 3. Mercedes GLC 4. Jaguar F Pace 5. Acura RDX sport
Sean Loyd, I owned a 2018 Jaguar F Pace 2.5 Premium for two years and other than replacing the brakes, it was trouble free. I now own a Stelvio Sport and it is a blast to drive. The handling in the Stelvio is precise, and a joy to drive. I say test all of those vehicles on your list, then decide.
I am on my 2nd Alfa Stelvio sport ti and as others have already said, it is an awesomely beautiful. I also have a couple other go fast cars. One is a C8 Z51 set up to race and a vintage De Tomaso Pantera also race prepared and both have been raced...the Pantera for more then 25 years. While the C8 is perfect in every way it is The Pantera that I really look forward to drive or race anywhere. The Alfa like the Pantera is not perfect by a long shot but it is the soul of the Alfa like the Pantera that I love. I agree the BMW is a more practical luxury family car but if you are a motorhead you want the Alfa.
I’ve driven the new X3 x301AWD, for a little over a year, hands-down the best decision I’ve ever made. Much more fun to drive than any other sport utility crossover in its class. Bank vault quiet, powerful, and no turbo lag or engine noise. Every button is precisely where it supposed to be, everything is thought out, down to the tiniest detail. It is the Swiss watch of automobiles. And did I mention how much fun it is to drive? For an SUVs (which have taller greenhouses in general, and Bimmer tends to make theirs taller than most for comfort), very little body sway. What I do, is I get the most loaded X3 that I can get, snuggling right up underneath M class, but stop short of buying the actual M class. M classes are great but they do two things, they up your insurance costs, and BMW charges an arm and a leg for basically two more cylinders, slightly better suspension, and slightly bigger brake rotors and calipers. So unless you’re a super gearhead, save your money.

Apples and oranges. X3 is a very good SUV, while Stelvio is a sports car with 5 doors. Better comparisons would be X3 vs. E-Pace and Stelvio vs. Macan.
Man what on earth are you saying? I got an offer for Stelvio Ti Sport at $510 with $3K out of pocket. $54k MSRP. This is standard dealer pricing with nothing special. I can get a Ti with some extras for $450 per month. I mean seriously there's no comparing to a Porsche.
@@sakispsinakis I believe the comparison was meant to be made with the similar entry level Macan. Similar as it comes with a 2.0 Turbo and it's also a SUV with more emphases on the 'S' part of it. But its quite more expensive and Macan's TFSI Audi engine mounted on that VW's MLB platform are no match for the Stelvio. The Macan is heavier and produces less power.
@@miks564 Thank you! I was referring more to the actual pricing one pays at the dealer. These videos compare cars based on their MSRP which is useless. I went to Audi and they barely move on their pricing while Alfa Romeo do everything to sell. Also BMW will lease demo card but Audi won't. You can get a demo M40 with 3K miles for a much better price to a new one. The videos would be vastly different if they said at the end that you van get one car 20% less than the other.
It struggles because you are saying: "Find me a McDonalds" The nav system hears " Find MiaMcdonalds". Since there is no such place as MiaMcdonalds, you're SOL. You should say "Find McDonalds". I guarantee that will work.
Wouldn’t it better to compare a relatable BMW? For example, the BMW X3 M line. You’ll get the sportier design, rims, brakes, calipers, steering wheel, etc.

No comparison. I’d buy the Stevie in a heartbeat. The X3 is as generic as they come (along with the Q5). The problem is there are so few Alfa dealers. FCA should convert Chrysler dealerships to Alfa/Maserati ones.
This is not a valid comparison. In the US we lease and leasing the Alfa is much cheaper. Alfas here are thought to be a sub par quality car. A new BMW is luxury item while an Alfa is just a low quality car. I am thinking of leasing one when I am in the US because I love them and own a few in Europe but they need to fix their image in the US. For someone to buy a Stelvio, it has to be around $400 while BMW can be $600 and still be fine.

When Alfa first came back to the states I was super excited and the cars look great too. Unfortunately, I chose something else on 2 different car buying occasions(Audi and a Porsche). Sure they make a great base X3/Q5/GLC competitor and a great 3-series/A4/C-Class competitor. They even have the Quadrifoglio to hang with the X3M , GLC63, Jag SVR etc. But not everyone needs to daily 500hp. Alfa has no competitor car for the M-lite, AMG-lite, Audi S segments. Even Acura and Genesis have joined. They're leaving a lot of money on the table by not having something for those who want more than the base, but don't need the full 500hp.
I agree that maybe they could tuned down the Ferrari V6 biturbo from the Quadrifoglio and sell a 'mid performance' version. But I still believe it's a niche market. Most people prefer to spend the same amount of money on less engine, but going up a segment instead. For example, going for a base X5 instead of an X3m
@@mgiraudjr Yes it's definitely enough for those who are satisfied with a 4-cylinder. But for those who aren't satisfied with the i4, Alfa doesn't have any offerings as originally stated. My previous Macan S, SQ5 and current M40i and GLC43 all had and have air suspension as well.
@@miks564 Good point but I disagree with going up a segment part. The X3M and the X5 are absolutely nothing alike. The X3M is a performance vehicle and not the most comfortable riding car one can have. The X5 is a big, luxurious, cushy, land-boat. They're for totally different buyers. I've owned the Macan S, the SQ5 and currently have both the X3 M40i and a GLC43. I've driven X5's and GLE's. They're nice cars but handle like crap and I would never want one. An individual looking for an M-car would not go up-segment and get the garden-variety version and vice versa.
@@anw9485 I can relate to that. But in that case, the Stelvio with the 2.9 V6 could be a contender. Previously owned the 19’ Stelvio Ti sport, it was a great driving car, interior was beautiful with its quirks, overall I enjoyed it. We had quite a few issues with it, all minor, yet very annoying. We sold it and bought the X3M. We compared it to the Quadrifoglio, still couldn’t get past the lack of quality of the interior, even with the 2020 update. Overall much happier with the X3M. The quality is far superior. The m sport seats are probably the best ever. And the driving dynamics are simply incredible. Love them both, but Alfa just needs some improvements to match the quality of they want to stay relevant.

I've always liked Alfa Romeo as a car full of style and high performance, with this SUV they hit the mark with my tastes, hearing the (real) exhausts in the green Quadrifoglio model is a sensory experience.
Brilliant cars the Giulia and Stelvio
love that you do the cabin noise test!
Love my Alfa Stelvio! She is sexy AF, loves to go fast and just classy 🖤😎, best car I've own!
Another slightly biased review and here's why:
- If you add the "M" package to the X3, the price are not similar.
Here's an example of the Lusso interior: i.pinimg.com/originals/10/2e/0d/102e0d516925b4679848cdc4c9418e15.jpg
- The Stelvio also offers wireless charging.
I totally agree with your comment

I love you for this review. Simply things said as realistic as possible. Thank you.

Both Great Suvs, but i prefer the Stelvio. Very fun ti drive. My Next car😬
The car is meant to drive not to have a mediacenter in it.....thats why i love Alfas
The Stelvio is a X3, Q5, GLC, XC60 competitor. The X5 competes with the Q7, GLE, XC90, etc.
Perhaps a lack of dealerships and marketing has something to do with it
Alfa Stelvio is new to the market in comparison to the X3. Also, Alfa has less dealerships compared to BMW.
And FCA has done a terrible job with marketing
Yea exactly I’d buy more Alfa’s than most other stuff or Italian cars
The Stelvio is much better
Like the Guilia likewise better then the 3: But all bye BMW or Audi pffffffffff
At 1:00 I'm already concerned....to make the comparison "fair" you want to add the "M" Poser package to the BMW which adds bigger brakes, TONS OF POSER BADGES, and an INLINE 6 Cylinder Engine !!! As well as bumping up the price about $4600 USD to the price !!!
"Fair" means 4 cylinder vs 4 cylinder where the ALFA BLOWS AWAY the UBOAT in HP !!!

Reliability is at the same level on both models
I’ve been trying to figure out what’s the best option to buy used the reliability is what’s been holding me back
1. Alfa Romeo stelvio ti sport
2.BMW x3 M40I
3. Mercedes GLC
4. Jaguar F Pace
Forza Alfa!
All I have to do is look at them to decide which one I want. Alfa all the way.
None of the others in the class look anywhere close to as good as the Alfa Romeo.
In the end...you made the right choice...BUT OMAR WON'T BE HAPPY !!!!

I can get the alfa at half price after 3 years but is it as unreliable as the Maserati? If so, i may as wall go honda or toyota route. Albeit the VW tiguan at 0% financing sounds good too
Love the Alfa. Digital cluster is overrated (drives S5 and MB C43 with them). In future the analog gauges will be more desirable.
Well said. That's why I chose my GTI with analogue dials. Problem with digital clusters is that in 2-3 years they will look dated as the technology progresses. Analogue will stay analogue

Regarding the voice control, I have learned that one should say "Navigation" first before asking for an address or something.

The 4 cyl turbo is actually pretty impressive. I'm not sure it needs another 100 HP, I'd rather have Alfa air suspension instead.
I don't expect the cost to be that far off.
