This is a Gran Tourer. Not an Active Tourer.

This isn't a BMW Active Tourer, it is a Gran Tourer!
The Active Tourer is the smaller 5 seats only mpv.
You should be a little bit more informed on the product you are testing...

Looks like a Ford Grand C Max to me. My neighbour has one and says it is great for the family.

Hey bob great review!!👍👍 My wife is changing her car soon and is thinking about getting a Ford S-max or Nissan X-trail. She has test drove a 2 series but said it’s too ‘fancy’!! Do you think its that fancy??

Totally agree with your view on the active tourer. We just brought a 218i AT not having ever owned a BMW before. Test drove the new X1 & 125i hatch. Great cars. But at the end of the day being my wife's family car the AT won on value for money against the X1 20i, as we brought a demo. The AT offered more boot and interior space than the hatch. It drove well and the interior was more premium feeling to her than even the Merc B200. Our car has the Nav plus 8.8 in screen, Harmon Kardon 10 speaker sys, with pano glass roof, amd HUD. As for looks it is a MPV high style, so yes not very BMW. But I think alot of young couples and families may go for the AT if they don't need that SAV or Hatch. Its also alot easier to park. Has park assist for Auto parallel parking.

*Yes yes, we're now all aware of the elephant in the room. So it's the **_'Gran'_** and not the **_'Active',_** but so what? Other than the extra 2 child seats in the third row - and make no mistake, they ARE only suitable for children - and the fact that you have a little more boot space without them, in every other way, the two models are identical.*
*It's still another great review by Mr Flavin, and (in my opinion), of another great car. At least in what a family car or MPV is expected to do. If you want thrills and an exhilarating drive, why would you even be considering an MPV? That said, I don't know of many (or even any) other brand new MPV's out there which can hit 62mph in around 7.6 seconds. If you do, please let me know because I would love one to be honest!*
*The one thing you CAN guarantee with an MPV from BMW, is that it'll be very safe, very comfortable (even on long journeys), very reliable, and very well screwed together. And in my experience, that's exactly what you get from the 2 Series Active (and Gran) Tourer. There are lots of other MPV's out there which are less expensive, and yes, some of them are pretty good. But to use a food analogy, there are lots and lots of fish finger brands out there which offer you **_"100% white fish"_** but only BMW offers you **_"100% prime cod fillet"._** The choice is yours! Traa dy liooar folks!*

There is a twin turbo 4cyl 225i for more oomph. What performance can you really get from 1.8d? So concierge is like opel onstar

Eco pro means poor acceleration so could be safety reason so faster acceleration from dead start. Is there any agile peoplemover s-max mentioned but quite big and Ford diesels and no hybrid alternative

Can the concierge service arrange ''a woman of the night''?

  • @andfikelly

As others have said it is a gran tourer not active tourer.
Also connected drive is standard but concierge service is an extra and costs about 350 euro for 3 years in Ireland.

Bob, that 2 series is Front Wheel Drive, a proper BMW is Rear Wheel Drive. It isnt a grand tourer, it's an mpv.

You're so right Bob, you have to forget that this is a bmw. The fact bmw made this car, shows that bmw forgot they are bmw.
