"Light and darkness" is way outside my alley musically and I admit it took me a few extra listens until it grew on me. But it eventually did and it was thanks to Su-metal's amazing vocals. Now I enjoy it a lot and the live version is even better.

For me L&D is another great pop rock ballad with beautiful SuMetal vocals piercing into our hearts. Love the J-pop sound from 2000 and the nostalgic vibes mixed with the edm sound. Here's some info about this song:

This was a world premiere at BabyMetal Returns The Other One - Makuhari Messe 2023 setlist, along with "THE LEGEND".
Later on during live concerts at PIA Arena MM Yokohama (April 1st - Fox Day and 2nd) they announced a new member, finally MomoMetal become official, and she's no longer an avenger, we were all happy for her.🍑❤️
They performed this at PIA Arena MM the second night (Clear Night), so they played this song only 3 times.

Light & Darkness is a song that didn't really grab me when I first heard it, and it took a while for it to grow on me. Now it's one of my favourite tracks from The Other One. I think what changed my feelings about it was seeing it live when they filmed this video at Babymetal Returns in January 2023. Babymetal have only played this song live three time and I'm probably one of a pretty small number of people who can say that they've been there to see all three performances lives.
It's definitely a pretty different song for them, being a straight up ballad, which is something they don't do very often, and incorporating elements of dance music.
But this song debuted in that concert... How come you didn't like it even before they revealed it to the public?
I remember that very vividly because the only way I'd listen to it was through a bootleg livestream audio.
@@i.shuuya3231 I got my shows and sequence of events out of whack. I saw it the first time at Makuhari, and it didn't make much of an impression on me at the time, then I watched the video a bunch of times and thought it was okay. Then I saw it live again at PIA Arena, and it really clicked for me with that performance. This is what I get for writing comments late at night.

Very pop rock song but the composition is just really interesting. It has so much dissonance despite the soft sound and the transitions are clever because they just fuck with your expectations. It's the kind of song that can still catch me off guard despite me knowing what's going to happen.

Good reaction - the live version (this had the studio audio) is even better and they added a couple of small timing changes which make an impact.
Hopefully you will get back to reacting to HQ Pro Shots of LIVE performances instead of Official MV's which often use studio audio, leave out the amazing intros, do not include actual crowd noise or actual Kami Band instrumentals
