Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 "Difference" and "Diversity" is another name of BABYMETAL. Especially new album, a "concept album", must have an underlying story to be told whether explicitly or implicitly and various songs therein must tell us 10 different chapters in the story. As an eyewitness at the venue, I guarantee that the live audio with Kami Band has more power and heaviness to stir your feelings. I assume Amuse is currently releasing MVs with live footage + studio sound, in other words "imperfect live video", on purpose, because they have to block their "real live videos" by copyright strike in order to sell them in a form of Blu-ray/DVD. After some two-year long hiatus, this is a good tool to remind people of the attractiveness of BABYMETAL and gain new fans, I believe.
High and low undulation of Su's voice and sharp moves by Moa and Momoko disordered my emotions 😱. Although I was too mesmerized to digest everything at the live debut, I finally grasped its artistry as a whole by this MV. I am looking forward to seeing the live performance of this song again in two-day shows on both April 1/2, yes I have the tickets ヽ(^o^)丿

Another great pop rock ballad with beautiful SuMetal vocals piercing into our hearts. Love the J-pop sound and the nostalgic vibes mixed with the edm sound, they're speaking to me too. Here's some info about this song:
"One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is "LIGHT AND DARKNESS" and this 4th pre-release digital single “Light and Darkness” centers around this theme. Because light exists, darkness also exists.
And because darkness is present, there is also a world that shines.

This was a world premiere at Makuhari Messe 2023 setlist, along with "THE LEGEND" (maybe the next single), Momoko Okazaki is the third backup dancer performing here and possibly the new official member. MoaMetal once again adding the backing vocals and all of them dancing with the full trio formation.

Yes as Jake mentioned the visuals were taken from their recent Makuhari Messe concert in Chiba (Jan 2023). Babymetal in Japan was on my bucket list, and I was fortunate enough to go to this performance. Unfortunately, I had such a great time this is no longer a bucket list item, but whenever, I can afford it! I will be back multiple times! Best ambassadors Japan has had in recent decades.
You said "Its not something i expected from them!" Yes!!! They still have it!! I love these ladies so much . I understand there's a ton of production and songwriting they aren't involved with but it doesn't take anything away from them! This is the first time since 10 BB We got to see these ladies dance on video, and it's amazing! So far every song on the album has a very different feel except for ONE THING! EVERY song has been getting out of the way instrumentally to showcase Su's insane vocals! She is incredible! I can't wait to see what else this album brings. Also hoping for more Moa backing vocals!! She's sizzling and amazing
Over time I think they are getting more and more involved in the creation and production process. Very, very slowly.
This song feel very nostalgic for me. It reminds me of very early on babymetal just grown up. Babymetal is always doing something different they always finding new ways to perform metal songs.
The third girl on stage with them is momoko. Momoko was one of the avengers introduced in 2019. The other avengers were riho and Kano. The avengers dance in Yui’s old spot. Kano is the avenger you are probably use to seeing because she was the avenger in the pa pa ya, elevator girl, and shanti shanti shanti music videos. Kano was only the avenger in Japan as she was still in Sakura gakuin (the group that created babymetal) serving as student council president. In late 2019 Kano debuted in an all girl idol group called @onefive. Next we have riho. Riho is one of the avengers in the da da dance music video. Riho was a member of the 8th generation of the very popular idol group morning Musume. When riho was in Morning Musume she was the center of the group and is still considered to this day to be the absolute ace of the group. Riho actually took Morning Musume to levels of fame the group hadn’t seen since the 90’s. Riho actually went to actors school Hiroshima with su and they were always the top 2 students so she probably became one of the avengers since they are probably friends. Riho did most of the 2019 world tour but stopped halfway through the Europe leg of the tour. She is currently signed to another label and putting out solo music.
Finally we have momoko. Momoko, like su, Moa, Yui, and Kano, is a former Sakura gakuin member. Momoko has been the avenger the longest doing the entire 2019 world tour as well as the nhk new years performances in 2020. She was also the only avenger in the 10 Budokon shows in 2021. Momoko was also the only avenger in the shows this music video was filmed at. It has been heavily speculated that she is becoming a permanent member of the group.
Both days of the January concerts they began with su and Moa sitting on 2 thrones however there was a third throne next to them that was empty and wasn’t lit up. You can see the three thrones in the Metal kingdom video. The 2nd day the ended the concert with su and Moa standing on the sides behind their “crystal coffins”. A third coffin then appeared in between them with a girl with the avengers hairstyle(half of hair in 2 buns the rest down). Some people have said she had pigtails but I’ve seen the 2 photos the referenced and you can’t see pigtails. For example with Moa you can clearly see the light shining in between her pigtails and her neck you can’t see that for the girl in the middle. After that they showed the trailer for the one which is on RUclips. The video has a single coffin in it and it states that a new metal is about to be born at the april 1st and 2nd shows in Yokohama. They also released a poster which has su and Moa in their coffins and a third empty coffin centered behind them. Yokohama is actually in the kanagawa prefecture which is where Yui was born and raised. Momoko was born in Fukuoka but according to her Kpop profile from when she was on the Jpop survival show girls planet 999 in early 2022 she listed her home town as the kanagawa prefecture as she moved there when she was 3.
In my opinion babymetal needs a 3rd member. When Yui officially left the group they still performed as three just with dancers then the avengers in the 3rd spot. Some people have claimed Yui is returning but I don’t think so. For starters in Japan when you leave an idol group you don’t go back. It’s seen a a graduation and just like when you graduate high school you don’t go back. Also I checked amuses website sometime last year and Yui was only listed as talent however as of this year she is now listed as an actor.
If they do add a third member I hope it’s momoko she deserves it she has worked so hard for them since 2019. I would also like for her to be mic’d and I would love to see her take the lead in headbanger like Moa and Yui have. She would have just turned 20 which means she could sing the updated version of the song at their concerts like Moa did in legend m. I would also like Moa to begin singing live again(she stopped when Yui left probably because all of their parts were catered for 2 people even their new songs have moas voice doubled of filtered to make it sound like multiple people are singing). I would also like to see a return of black babymetal or even just momoko and Moa duets. I also would not like to see the new member in pigtails because at least to me it would feel like they are replacing Yui instead of adding a new member.
Not sure if you saw but even metal hammer is doing stories about the possibility of a third member. The first time when babymetal released this music video they said it featured the “rumored third member” and on babymetals cover for metal hammer they put on the header “new member?”
Did you hear their first single released for this album - Divine Attack? It's actually straight follow up of Metal Kingdom in their album playlist and in their concert - MK just keep building up and that's pay off in Divine Attack.
They've been straight up using their live footages for their music videos - with studio audio... Guess they purposely do that to sell their blurays - because all of their songs sound so much much better, less processed in those blurays.
The live performance was even heavier. The sound is by far better live. Dancing and other performances are fun to watch on video because you can see many of the performances that were taking place. Watching live viewing at the theater may be a new way to enjoy BABYMETAL 🤔.
Good reaction. You can never know what to expect with BBAYMETAL - apart from being surprised by them. This is definitely a song that leans a long way towards the pop end of the BABYMETAL sliding scale, further than most I'd say. However, this was the studio audio and I have read the live version is ... different. We can only wait for the DVD to hear the live audio and see how much different of course.
I feel this album, concept aside, is highlighting Su-metal's vocals more than anything and possibly more than has been the case in the previous albums - they each had maybe three or four songs that really did that, this one so far every song has done it.
Babymetal "expect the unexpected". you can never put them in a box. they are so good at mixing genres and making them good. again with this song some Babymetal fans and reacters dont like this song because of the pop EDM of this song but i think they forget that is how Babymetal was at the beginning. to me this is not anything different for Babymetal. what i love about them is they do what they want to do and dont give a F about what other people think. they do their own thing and i love them for it. again to me this song is going to bring in more fans to metal because of Babymetal (that is one of the reasons they were formed). Baymetal is like the gateway drug to metal.
By the way, many people say that Babymetal's songs are like animated songs.
Conversely, many of Japan's anime songs are influenced by metal songs.
In the 1990s, the decline of metal songs in Japan caused people involved in metal songs who lost their jobs to go to produce anime songs. 😀
How many people were holding their breath, as Su's note went higher and higher, and waiting for the beat to drop?... I didn't start breathing again until the instruments kicked back in. Seriously, i think Babymetal has been taking lessons from edm tracks on when to drop the beat.... not that many bands, especially metal, is so good at building up that anticipation before dropping the beat, no one does it as well as Babymetal. Wished Moa's vocal bit was a bit more though, it sound so good. Love how these new songs all are giving Su a lot opportunity to flex her vocal skills...😄😄😄🤘🦊🤘

Believe me when I say that Suzuka’s vocals are always better LIVE than studio. The only official MV with LIVE audio and instrumentals is Road of Resistance Live in Japan and you should really react to it soon.

So far Babymetal hasn't let me down, less heavy doesn't mean it's bad. Babymetal, especially Su-metal, can deliver a slow balled and she'll have me fully engaged. But I wonder what the rest of the album is like and how it will all fit together

That section seemed very much like what Perfume would do, including the choreography. Of course, Mikiko is the choreographer for both groups.
