Not in the music video, but the KAMI band, all Japanese, conventional members, had a blast playing it! 😁.
I was right in front of the band stage and was very satisfied. The girls on the movable stage moved around the venue, appearing in front of me and moving away from me, so the audience could enjoy their performance up close and personal.

Another great pop rock ballad with beautiful SuMetal vocals piercing into our hearts. Love the J-pop sound and the nostalgic vibes mixed with the edm sound. You're not the only one finding anime vibes in this song, i would have love AoT using one of BM songs as an opening or ending. Here's some info about this song:

This was a world premiere at Makuhari Messe 2023 setlist, along with "THE LEGEND", Momoko Okazaki is the third backup dancer performing here and possibly the new official member. Princess MoaMetal once again adding the backing vocals and all of them dancing with the full trio formation.

Definitely agree with you that Su's vocals are up front on the 4 songs we've heard from this album. And the guitars are pushed lower in the mix making the drums more prevalent. The guitar work was such a big part of previous Babymetal tracks that this album seems very different in that aspect.

Maybe it's just me but I feel like we're hearing more from Moa in background vocal roles. Not just pumping up the crowd but actually being integral to the song.
I think I agree with you that Su and her vocals are up front and being highlighted. She was a soprano with a C4 to G5# range at 17 and her voice has only grown stronger and smoother. Moa is still wearing a mike and singing her backing vocals - and looking stunning while she does it. As always, they produce those vocals while dancing in unison perfectly and, as always too, the music is epic and Metal and emotional and powerful and joyous and perfect. This has been a good week, with Babymetal, Lovebites and Band-Maid all releasing a new and superb song! 🦊🤘🤘🦊

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 "Difference" and "Diversity" is another name of BABYMETAL. Especially new album, a "concept album", must have an underlying story to be told whether explicitly or implicitly and various songs therein must tell us 10 different chapters in the story.
As an eyewitness at the venue, I guarantee that the live audio with Kami Band has more power and heaviness to stir your feelings. I assume Amuse is currently releasing MVs with live footage + studio sound, in other words "imperfect live video", on purpose, because they have to block their "real live videos" by copyright strike in order to sell them in a form of Blu-ray/DVD. After some two-year long hiatus, this is a good tool to remind people of the attractiveness of BABYMETAL and gain new fans, I believe.
High and low undulation of Su's voice and sharp moves by Moa and Momoko disordered my emotions 😱. Although I was too mesmerized to digest everything at the live debut, I finally grasped its artistry as a whole by this MV. I am looking forward to seeing the live performance of this song again in two-day shows on both April 1/2, yes I have the tickets ヽ(^o^)丿
I feel that this Babymetal album is purposely showing us all the they are much more mature as a band. This is miles away from doki Doki morning and I’m okay with that. I am loving BabyMetals mature side and Su’s voice is sooooo strong now. Not that it wasn’t before, but you can just hear the strength in her voice. Great reaction. I have been saying I feel this album, concept aside, is highlighting Su-metal's vocals more than anything and possibly more than has been the case in the previous albums - they each had maybe three or four songs that really did that, this one so far every song has done it.
This is a concept album, but until we get the whole thing we can't really know how it will play out ... then beyond that they will keep us guessing and surprise us again with whatever direction they take next.
This is definitely a song that leans a long way towards the pop end of the BABYMETAL sliding scale, further than most I'd say. However, this was the studio audio and I have read the live version is ... different. We can only wait for the DVD to hear the live audio and see how much different of course.
You've seen so many different angles of Babymetal but you've still never seen a full show and that's really missing the entire point. Love this song tho, i knew i would from the first time i heard the snippet. It's not my usual style and I could complain about the entire loss of focus on the band but all is forgiven every time Su makes a sound. Looking forward to this Album and especially the Live show! 🤘🦊🤘
I'm glad you are saying that this is very different, because that's the core of BABYMETAL that I don't want to change. I want them to continue surprising us. There are elements in the new songs that I'm not too fond of (or that I'm missing), but overall everything has been very good. I hear people complaining that they all sound the same, but I don't see where that comes from. Where I do miss a little variety is the arrangement. A little solo or heavy breakdown wouldn't hurt, so far all breakdowns went in the calmer direction.
Only deaf people could think any of these songs sound the same 🤣🤣🤣

Yes, Su sounds incredible in all the new releases. So far it looks like a Su-metal's vocals oriented album hehe...
"Light and Darkness" is really far away from my personal musical preferences. I'm not a fan of EDM, J-pop or rock BUT I'm a fan of consistency and quality of the songwriting and composing. And this is one is just exquisite. And most important: they still have the ability to surprise us (although this one was pretty obvious to me because of the snippets).
BabyMetal entering the next Eurovision song contest with this one? The start is like an Azerbaijan entry.
How many people were holding their breath, as Su's note went higher and higher, and waiting for the beat to drop?... I didn't start breathing again until the instruments kicked back in. Seriously, i think Babymetal has been taking lessons from edm tracks on when to drop the beat.... not that many bands, especially metal, is so good at building up that anticipation before dropping the beat, no one does it as well as Babymetal. Wished Moa's vocal bit was a bit more though, it sound so good. Love how these new songs all are giving Su a lot opportunity to flex her vocal skills...😄😄😄🤘🦊🤘

The third girl is momoko. She is one of the avengers that was introduced in 2019 along with riho and Kano. Kano is probably the one you are used to because she was the avenger in the pa pa ya, elevator girl, and shanti shanti shanti music videos. Kano was only the avenger in the Japan shows probably because she was serving as student council president at Sakura Gakuin (the group the created baby metal). In late 2019 Kano debuted in an all girl idol group called @onefive. Riho is one of the avengers in the da da dance music video. Riho did the Japan shows as well as the most of the world tour. She stopped being the avenger about halfway through the Europe leg of the world tour. Riho was a former member of the very popular idol group Morning Musume. She was part of the 8th generation and was the center of the group and is considered to this day to be the absolute ace of the group. Riho actually took Morning Musume to levels of fame the group hadn’t seen since the 90’s. She probably only became one of the avengers because she and su went to actors school Hiroshima together and are most likely friends. Riho is now signed to another label and is putting out solo music.
Now for momoko, momoko is the one you will probably see most fans talk about. Momoko like su, Moa, Yui, and Kano is also a former Sakura gakuin member. Momoko is one of the avengers in the da da dance music video along with riho. Momoko has been the avenger the longest doing the entire metal galaxy world tour as well as the nhk new years performances and all the 10 babymetal budokon shows. She was also the avenger at the 2 concerts this music video was filled at. She has been the only person in Yui’s old spot since 2020. It was heavily implied that Momoko will become a permanent member of the group. The began both of the January concerts with 3 thrones on the stage( as seen in the metal kingdom music video) one of the thrones wasn’t lit up at the start of the concert as was empty. The ended the las concert with su and Moa on the sides standing behind their “crystal coffins” and a third coffin appeared in the center with someone that had the avengers hairstyle (half of hair in 2 buns the rest of hair down). Some people have claimed that she had pigtails but I have seen both of the photos people referenced and I don’t see pigtails. For example you can see the light shining between moas pigtails and her neck you can’t see that with the girl in the middle. After that a video played saying a “new metal” is about to be born at the April 1st and 2nd concerts. Some people have said momoko is not a new metal however none of the avengers were ever introduced and given metal names the fans gave them metal names. To my knowledge none of the avengers appear in the lore and we all know koba loves his lore. So momoko would actually be considered a new metal. They also released the poster for the concerts at it has su and Moa in their crystal coffins and a third empty coffin centered behind them. The concert also takes place in Yokohama which in in the kanagawa prefecture, Yui was born and raised in kanagawa. Momoko was born in fukuoka Japan but according to her Kpop profile she was actually raised in kanagawa as well. ( Momoko was on the K-pop survival show girls planet 999 last year I believe she got 22nd place). I do believe that Momoko deserves to made a permanent member she has worked so hard for them for almost 4 years. It would be so incredibly cruel if koba kept her in the spot all this time only to give it to some one else.
In my honest opinion babymetal needs a third member. I love su and Moa but when Yui officially left the group they still performed as three just with dancers then the avengers. I think momoko would be a great fit for the group and since she has been traveling with the group fans will recognize her.
If they do add her as a permanent member here are something’s I would love to happen.
Momoko takes lead on headbanger(she would have just turned 20 right before the concert ). Momoko is mic’d and Moa begins singing live again(she stopped when Yui left because all their parts were catered for 2 voices and even in their newer songs moa’s voice is layered or has a filter so it sounds like multiple people are singing.) I would like for black babymetal to return or at least have Moa and Momoko duets. I also don’t think that she should have pigtails because at least to me it would feel like they are replacing Yui instead of adding a new member.
Some people have insisted Yui is coming back but I don’t think so. For starters I checked on amuses website about a year ago and she was just listed as tall however she is now listed as an actor. Also in Japan when someone leaves an idol group they don’t go back. It’s called a graduation and like when you graduate high school you don’t go back. And babymetal to their core is an idol group set to metal.

This song feels very poppy (Babymetal is still a jpop/metal fusion band) but the guitars and the drums still sound metal. I also love the piano and Su’s vocals are on a complete new level. I absolutely agree with you that the new album seems to highlight Su’s vocals more than any of the previous albums, but I am not mad about it at all ❤
PS: the third woman on stage is Momoko who is one of the three avengers but was the only one performing with Babymetal for the last 20+ shows

I feel like this song is similar to the Avex sound of 90's Japanese music. Although the music style is very familiar to me, it sounds very fresh and new when I listen to it as a Babymetal song, .
We have said it for years. Su gets better with age, not only her voçals but how good of a performer she is .

Yes, very different. I think this song gives the choreographer a different creative direction. It's not just the song that attracts me, but the choreography also attracts me. It's so different. And it's the first choreography we've seen for the latest album. 🦊

Light and Darkness is a 90's Ferrari with a ridiculous flat-12 engine. You know it has more power than you'll ever need. It kinda wants to get out too. But you've grown a bit older and a bit more sensible and don't want to buy a new set of tires every year.
Su has such an evolution vocally throughout the years and it is such an honor to be able to see her nowadays and say that I have been here since the beginning.
Saying it this way it is weird, but I think that right now she is at anime opening level vocals, if that even passes as a standard.
Great reaction, and I couldn't agree with you more. Her vocals are leveling up amazingly. I've been saying this more and more, but since I know you're also reacted to Morissette Amon, I keep wondering how amazing a duet with Su and Mori would be, or if they collaborated for a while to learn off each other, I keep wondering how amazing that would be also. I think Su is almost at Morissette level in terms of vocal power and prowess, although I've never heard Su do whistle notes or the Squeeks that Mori does. Who knows though, maybe Su CAN do whitle notes and stuff, but that isn't exactly something you hear in metal, however JPop isn't something you really combine with Metal either. But if anybody could find a way to make Whistle notes work in Metal, its Babymetal. Anyhow, great reaction. I always look forward to new songs from Babymetal because a)I love hearing new stuff from them, and b) your one of my favorite reactors to Babymetal. I'm actually surprised there were no tears in this song. I thought for sure you'd tear up a bit for this one!

IMO "The Other One" is is a transitional era and the songs are designed for Su to stretch her vocals and Moa provide her soft sweet voice. And drawing in a wider audience. On Fox Day a new era will begin (there are numerous hints this will happen). As most expect a third permanent member will be named. I suspect Koba has already developed new music for the next era, perhaps preparing for a new album after "The Other One." During the concert series with Sabaton, I expect some of the new material will be debuted.

My New Favourite Babymetal Song.
Yet another mixing of genres masterfully done! While having a more radio friendly song structure, it still has plenty of complex sound layers and change ups and I love it!
Great seeing the ladies dance for the first time too! Moa and Momoko are more in sync than ever, and always ahhhh I want more Moa backing vocals! Though I'm pretty sure she sings harmony with Su's long 4 note build ups.
They look gorgeous and sound amazing! For me EVERY single on this new album is a banger so far!
Edit: agreed about Su being highlighted more so far on the album, and yes she's leveled up bigtime! Which is incredible to say because she had an amazing powerful accurate voice since the beginning!
The Other One is a concept album, with 10 songs, each of which represents a unique theme based on a parallel world they have discovered during their restoration project. Each song will definitely sound unique and different than the rest, to illustrate that. So far, we've had the opportunity to listen to 4 singles, Divine Attack - Shingeki -, Monochrome, Metal Kingdom and last but not least, Light and Darkness. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album, and you best believe I will be listening to Su's magnificent voice over and over.

The young lady with Su and Moa is Momoko, the last of the Avengers. AND I am very happy for her. She performed at all of Budokan concerts and was on their last World Tour. Moa now blocks out the major dance steps for the new songs. Su works on her death control with the new song and dance steps.
Su and Moa stay in shape all of the time, it's what they done all their life. They are professionals at the highest level.

Which BABYMETAL song next? I'd like to point out two of the more obscure songs.
a) ↑↓←→BBAB; audio only; never performed live.
b) Ave Maria (Schubert). They opened the Legend 1997 concert with this back in 2013. The version that runs almost ten minutes is a good one: It includes Haadbanger Night of 15 mix as a 2nd song which you did not react to so far as well.
c) Get hold of your brother for the Sonisphere 2014 one.

They're grown up now
Soon it will be Moa's time to shine. I'm starting to understand Yui leaving the group. Realizing to shine, you have to step out of the shadows cast by others.
When you have a singer the quality of Su-metal why would you not showcase her? Singers like that do not come along often and rarely in Metal/ Hard Rock so you have to go with it or you would be committing a crime against music lol. I think when we get real live audio the band will be more present since that is what people who were there are saying, It still isn't the same on the BD and DVDs but it is still better than the studio versions as far as the feel goes. This song is second to last on the album effectively the end of the story as I believe the final song is representative of setting off to the next part of their journey so it seems to fit to me, a little sad a little regretful but still determined in their mission.

It is a beautiful song, but I don't think I would have been as moved by it had it not been for SU-METAL's voice. To begin with, this difficult song can only be sung by her.
