The fact that those older women, mums and even the pregnant women who walked past her and didn’t help her in a situation they would be embarrassed about it if it happened to them when they were younger was upsetting. And they are probably the same women who complain that young women are lost or whatever blah blah blah. Because in times you were meant to be a mentor to the younger women you copped out so don’t complain about a generation you were never ready to help.

It could be as you described it. But it could also be that older people take things more relaxed and think its just s strain. She will notice once she is home. So maybe they are not indifferent but just think its not important enough. Older people are often much more relaxed whereas younger people often freak out about little stuff.

In the 1800's a woman could only be taught about sex, periods, and pregnancy through her mother, or a married friend. We thankfully have come along way since then.

Maybe nervous, rather than embarrassed and disgusted. These days, trying to help a young girl with a delicate matter like that could lead to angry parents and accusations, even if they were well intentioned.
I am 43, and I certainly would not lead an 11 year old to the bathroom. I would offer to call her grandmother. I would give her a pad. But, I wouldn't ask her to go off to the bathroom with me.
