    The BEST way to prevent crashing.....grab that CLUTCH. Think of the clutch as a panic switch....a temporary On/Off switch. Trust me....you NEED to train your left hand to Squeeze immediately.....Because as a new rider, your gut reaction is to YANK the throttle, Trust me.....you will catch yourself doing it......if you squeeze the Clutch first, the Throttle element is taken Out......you don't crash....you just steer and Brake.

    Well I would definitely like to emphasize not starting on a supersport 600cc bike, for the exact reason of throttle control that you had a problem with. See, with a 250r or 650r, that mistake would have been a minor slip-up compared to what you experienced with your bike... but congratulations on keeping it upright.

    • @BikesOmega
      @BikesOmega  9 лет назад +106

      Sorry for the mistake! What he meant to say was the front brake supplies around 70% stopping power and the rear brake gives about 30%. Meaning the front brakes will stop the bike a lot faster.

      Comfortable, depends on the person. But once you feel comfortable, that's when in my opinion, it becomes a bit more dangerous. It's easy to get yourself in to a situation that you don't want to be in because you want to open the throttle and feel the full power of your bike :)

      Yup! These guys, though well intended, are not proper teachers and certainly not professionals. For example I heard the rider state to use the rear breake "30% of the TIME, and the front brake 70% of the TIME"...this is completely misleading. Of course most will know he meant the fronts perform 70% of the braking while the rears provide 30%. That's not the same meaning as what was stated and new learner will misunderstand.
      When learning how to drive any motor vehicle, they always recommend getting professional teachers because friends & family will only pass on their bad habits to the learner, putting them at risk as well as other road users.

    Also, pick out some khaki shorts and a tee shirt. No need for gloves or a helmet Squid.

      what's a "helmet Squid?"

    • @SandyCow
      @SandyCow 7 лет назад

      +moosa86 I think he meant: helmet, squid as in using squid as a non rude insult

    • @moosa86
      @moosa86 7 лет назад +1

      Haha... thanks Nochill I got that but don't believe in "non rude" insults (kind of an oxymoron). I was questioning him to make him feel dumb. Dumb for commenting on someone else's video. A video that took some degree of time and effort to make for the educational benefit of others. Judging by his avatar the guy should close his mouth and not be so quick to criticize others when he isn't offering anything better (for the benefit of others).

    I guess they you never learned how to wear the proper gear when riding. You just want to recommend to your viewers to attend the MSF course, there they will learn from qualified instructor who teach by example. You also are giving poor instruction about neutral, leave instruction to those who are qualified because you are clearly not.

    Good job guys. I like how you focused on the controls and even though its obvious the person giving the presentation is experienced...you covered the very basic stuff.

      Also noticed the extra effort on the graphics for the gears. Super helpful for those who've never seen it before.

    My friend offered for me to use his bike to practice once I get the written test done but I’m so scared that either I crash and damage his bike or I crash and get hurt myself. Thanks for making this video to slowly introduce people to it.

    In UK before you can legally ride a bike on the road, you must complete CBT, Compulsory Basic Training, it is a pretty comprehensive days course.
