      I will be using a 350w BLDC controller for this motor. But its more about the idea, mine is only a 35 A alternator so its going to be pretty much a low HP motor. But there are 250A or 300A alternator out there and you use this technique to convert it. Also use a higher power controller 2kw or 3kw.

    Bet you did not know:
    While the car alternator has windings on the stator and also on the rotor, keeping the electric stability between 13.7-14.4V by control of the power to the rotor, there is actually a type of vehicle that has the alternator with permanent magnets already "by factory" and it runs the alternator on full power controlling the charging by disipating the excess power. That vehicle is : the motocycle.
    So you can find it already by factory with permanent magnets, no need to 3d print. :).

    • @mechsmith4444
      @mechsmith4444  Год назад

      In the case of motorcycle the rotor is directly couple to the crank and the stator is fixed on the engine case, so there is no particular housing for the alternator.
      Building the entire alternator case is more difficult than just modifying the rotor.
      By changing the rotor to permanent magnet we can eliminate the need for additional power to energize the field rotor.

    • @mechsmith4444

      I'm not sure which you mean... Do you mean the rotor? In the center ... the Stator? The magnetic field back/EMF flux or The magnets themselves? Or their housing? The bearings? Lots of movement
      Maybe that's why you haven't gotten a response yet. Try to use defined terms to describe your situation so there is not much confusion about which member you're trying to fiddle with. 🎻
      Just look up a short video on how motors work. You'll be 90% likely get your answer to your question, 500x faster and at the same time learn the names of components.
