If those teenagers were able to find their way to an event that was advertised on social media, then I guarantee you that most of those kids have a cell phone. Their parents can track them through their phones, regardless if the parent is working or not.
Having money or no money does not absolve you from being a parent and knowing where your child is at.

I don't think any police department has handled a riot situation as well as NYPD handled this. From the fact that they had early intelligence to prepare for the crowd to the ability to effectively scale the response with the crowd size and behavior to the restraint of the officers in handling the juveniles without using excessive force. This is amazing work by the NYPD.
Unfortunately, this gives justification for big brother to be watching all of the communications among society. Society proved to require police to maintain order in the physical environment, and now we are proving to need police to maintain order in the virtual world as well.
This generation participating in events like this is going to force a whole new level of big brother surveillance.
