I used to play this song over and over, at home when i was alone, and crank it up loud and sing my heart out pretending to be Steve Walsh. So inspiring and magical this song is. Thank you Kansas for being the soundtrack to my life growing up!
This band was a hidden treasure. So much more than the songs that got the air play time. Can't say how many times I saw them in concert, more than a handful.
The 70s produced so many perfect albums and Leftoverture is one of them. Each song is just as beautiful as the next. Cheyenne Anthem is one of my favorite songs and followed by the insane Magnum Opus. What a climax to an exrtraodinary work of art.
Kerry Livgren writes the story and Steve Walsh delivers the story...a marriage made in heaven when you put the greatest songwriter with the greatest singer ever 🤷 Check out 'The Pinnacle' from them
I was a young man when this came out and listened to it so many times wondering its meaning. During the many years I had not again listened to the song I became a Christian at age 41. After that when I again heard the song it became so clear in my mind. The “Wall” is symbolic of what holds us back or separates non- believers from crossing over to faith. I later learned writer Kerry Livgren who later became a Christian was for a long time searching for spiritual meaning and reading studying all forms. So if my interpretation is correct or not, whether he wrote with that in mind I have to believe it was somewhere in his subconscious.
I knew you would love this song. The lyrics are so poetic and profound. At the time the band was recording this album Kerry Livgren was on a spiritual quest, being drawn towards Christianity. Other songs you should check out are, "Miracles Out of Nowhere" and "Icarus (Borne On Wings of Steel)". KANSAS is my jam!
These days, people don't realize that while there were synths being used on this album, so many other classic instruments were used as well. Steve Walsh on organ, piano, synth, vibraphone and of course vocals. Kerry Livgren on electirc guitar, piano, clavinet and a few different synths. Robby Steinhardt on violin, viola, vocals, Rich Williams on Electric and Acoustic guitars, Phil Ehart on drums and percussion and Dave Hope on bass. (I also play bass and Dave is really underrated). I have seen Kansas perform probably 20 times live - and this song always sounds so great!
I had the great privilege of meeting and spending a couple of days with Kerry Livgren. I sat in his living room with the huge stone fireplace and all the platinum albums hanging on the walls. Got to spend time in his basement recording studio and met his lovely family. A real gentleman and an amazing songwriter and musician. He actually wrote a book about his spiritual journey, from searching Eastern religions and mysticism and finally ending his search by becoming a “born again Christian”. The book is called “Seeds of Change”. Kerry was the principal song writer for most of Kansas’s material. Many of the songs were written as part of his quest for truth and enlightenment. I have every Kansas album and several Kerry released in his band after Kansas, called A.D.
I remember hearing this when I was about 16 or so - what a hell of an inspiring song! The music fits perfectly with the lyrics, and just speaks to your soul.
Was just going to post this. I bought this whennit came out and listened to the whole album and love every song. It's from a time when albums were like that.
What is not to love about this!! The collective sound of the instruments and the vocals all outstanding! Tx Saeed. Greetings from South Africa. O and there is nothing wrong with your English. As a matter of fact I sometimes learn from you as Afrikaans is my first language.
Just for the record,Saeed your English is better and easier to understand than a lot of people who live here who butcher the language.🤣. Loved your reaction to this , I like your interpretations of the songs a lot. Carry on Brother!.
A great song. After I bought the Point of Know Return album in I think 1977, a bought the live album Two for the Show. This song was on side three of this double vinyl album. Later I had to buy the cd version of it. (well, I am 64, I still prefer to have physical music media instead of Spotify or other online sources. And frankly, they sound from the speakers way better than when listening on youtube with a headphone
One of the great things about this album is it has a lot of interpretations about the meanings of the songs. For me when it came out it coincided with learning Oklahoma history and the history of Native American tribes and the tragedies that they went through. The song Cheyenne Anthem really hit home about the Tribes and the history between them and the US. Its definitely worth a listen. It has similarities to The Beds Are Burning by Midnight Oil about the Aboriginals in Australia and the plight they went through.
Omg I thought I'd never see this in YT reactions! This sound and their level of talent deserves to be heard. So thrilled to see this.♡ #eargasm Ps. The guy who wrote this, and most of their lyrics, is a Christian dude from Midwest USA. So that's where the words come from. The thinking.
@timmebee6097 he still had his core beliefs, his heart, and his biblical knowledge. Maybe he just hadn't surrendered his life over to God yet. I don't know. No one knows that but God. What I do know, is this guy always had Christian beliefs. He just may not having been living it. The lyrics are proof. That was my point to begin with.
Kansas may be #2 for me behind RUSH. They have so many excellent songs. Song for America could be my favorite (deep lyrics especially if you are familiar with American history).
Deep, deep well here,Saeed. I strongly suggest you just react to this entire album, track per track. But--you won't want to stop there. All 7 of their early albums are diamonds! You'll adore them...trust me. ;-) T
Recognized the song, not the title. Was always impressed by the level of musicianship, of compositional strength and the introspection, the fierce self-excavation chronicled in the songs, largely written if I'm not mistaken by guitarist Kerry Livgren. A great band, well worthy of exploration, a rabbit-hole to go down together. Should prove to be be really good. Cheers, mate. ✌🏼😉🎶❤️🍁❤️✨️✌🏼
@SaeedReacts. Thank you, mate, I used 2️⃣🐝 at least marginally more attentive to my need to proofread. Yes, looking forward to more from them. Enjoy your days.
I mention something different. Did you realize the band logo on their albums. This is one of my top 3 band logos along with Chicago and Angel. Keep an eye out for these. Nevertheless the music of Kansas is great and i like it.
Kansas was labeled a Christian band even though none of the band were Christians at the time of this album. Kerry Livgren was on a spiritual search for meaning, often in other world religious including native American religions. He would eventually become a Christian after their 8th album and then his lyrics definitely reflected Christian perspectives - causing the singer, Steve Walsh to leave the band. Steve would return to Kansas after 2 Kansas albums and Kerry then moved on to new projects. Regardless, Kansas lyrics are usually deep and interesting.
Don't be ashamed of your English. It's better than that of ninety-five percent of the people I come into contact with here in the ol' united states of america...
Yes!!!! It's a song of faith ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Good man🎉
I used to play this song over and over, at home when i was alone, and crank it up loud and sing my heart out pretending to be Steve Walsh. So inspiring and magical this song is. Thank you Kansas for being the soundtrack to my life growing up!
@TresLanes same here! Latch key kid with albums at my disposal 😉
@sjb1971 that's awesome! Like having your own designer drug but without the side effects!
I, also, listened to this song repeatedly. It was my brother's album. The whole album is great, but I still listen to this track often.
Me too, cranked to the hilt!!! The message the music all top notch❤❤definitely a favorite
What a combo of music, lyrics and vocals. I've been a Kansas fan since I first heard them over 50 years ago.
This band was a hidden treasure. So much more than the songs that got the air play time. Can't say how many times I saw them in concert, more than a handful.
This is probably (depending on the day_) my favourite Kansas song. The opening, the lyrics, the arrangement. It's absolute class.
The 70s produced so many perfect albums and Leftoverture is one of them. Each song is just as beautiful as the next. Cheyenne Anthem is one of my favorite songs and followed by the insane Magnum Opus. What a climax to an exrtraodinary work of art.

The Pinnacle is the best song by Kansas

Another great Kansas tune. Being from Kansas, we’re very proud of them.
The whole album (Leftoverture) is a masterpiece of songs.

Top of the list to be played at my funeral one of these days.
I've been begging for this, so, thank you! ⚘️
And thank you so much for ignoring this. After my faithfulness to this channel, it's daunting to be snubbed a few times in a row.

Yes indeed!! Sometimes it appears that you are searching for the best word to use. I do that myself and English is my only language.
