- Canadian Champions Myles Munroe and Tessa Cunningham Munroe based in Vancouver, Canada This is improvised (not choreographed) social dancing. West Coast Swing is a descendant of the Swing dance family of dances, danced to modern popular music and classic popular music in a variety of genres, (R&B, Blues, Pop, Hip Hop, Acoustic, Rock, Country, etc.) and featuring smooth footwork and modern groove that is flexible, casual, and universal to all humans.

Song: Come Back by Josh Rouse.
So amazing, I watched this video years ago, and still think about it every now and again. Great dancing, great song. I wish there was more.
I always wish this was longer.
to direness
I totally agree that just because you can choreogaph a great routine doesn't mean you're a champion. But I've danced with both Myles and Tessa, taken classes, taken private lessons, (hung out and partied with them too!) and they really are amazing, and they've got every right to call themselves Canadian Swing Champions. (Hey to M and T from Corvallis!!)
I'd love to see the full version of this routine. It's mesmerising to watch the two of you dance. Love the track by Josh Rouse.
i wish there was a full version of this... i keep replaying it and it keeps stopping so soon t_t
Tessa, your footwork and bodywork is the smoothest I have ever seen. I mean this in the most compoimentary manner....you have such unique and almost quirky smooth moves with your feet and hips, such a signature! You inspire me to dance again! I'm 57 years old, and the dancing days have long passed, but I think it's time to revive myself! My husband does not care to dance, so that makes it a little difficult, but he would not mind me going to class, and the social events they hold at the studio.
So charming. I've seen other vids from this pair and others, but this is by far the best. I think if aliens were to visit planet Earth one day and get to know human civilization, after having seen everything they would probably be most amazed by this video. That human beings can produce music and move to it with their loved ones like here. They would probably analyze until the end of the world why it is so magical if after all it is only rhythmic motion hands held together.
I tell you what I played the original and did the count to replay this video 3 times while the original song played and the video matched up...I still can't get enough! I love this dance!
Just to let you know this is still working its magic. Every time we feel overwhelmed by how much there is to learn, we watch this video & are inspired to keep going. Thanks guys.
Damn these two can dance. That girl has moves that can make you ache, and watching that guy groove is inspirational. I just started dancing about a month ago and this has my passion for swing going through the roof. I can't even get any homework done! I have to find one of these dvds I here about in these comments.
The moves on that woman, I could almost cry she moves so awesome ... I can watch her dance all day. Reminds me of a girl I know ... I love watching her dance also ..
Thank God, I can finally see the whole thing! Yes, this performance is inspirational!
Congrats Myles and Tessa for reaching 500k viewers! I know dancing is always evolving, but I wish sometimes it didn't. This is the best. Kia ora from New Zealand.
this is oddly hypnotic, i have never seen this type of dance before and ... are they actually touching the ground, more like floating or gliding... wow.. just wow!
I loved this dance! Didn't know this style and really appreciated it!
That was awesome! I wanted to cry when it ended because it's so short lol
I love this dance so much. It reflects to me what dance should be. Having fun and connecting with your partner in the harmony that they have.
My boyfriend recently started taking west coast lessons. Just wanted to thank you for posting this, because we certainly wouldn't be dancing if we hadn't seen it.
Can't wait to see you two at the Canadian swing dance championships for the Victoria day weekend!
Hey there...I just took your Down & Dirty class at Summer Hummer...it was a great time, and I love watching you and Myles dance together!
Thank you! :D
@TessaCunningham Hi Tessa, please keep this beauty going on! A very warm and great example.
- Bravissimi, complimenti. Molto eleganti e con una bellissima espressione.
safolivier, we saw Myles & Tessa when the SAF competed at the US Open in 2002. If memory serves, Myles sang the canadian anthem at the opening ceremony and M&T took 3rd or 4th in their showcase division. I remember being happy that a canadian couple did so well!
The WCS family of dances has as much claim to the swing label as lindy hoppers do, and these guys have won enough comps to deserve the canadian swing champion title.
Nice video guys!
-sav (safkevin *wink*)
Watching this video now for the 2nd time & having seen these two in another video I find that the dance is choreographed nicely, the couple is coordinated with each other well, and is a pleasure to watch.
I doubt you dance exactly this way. This one video is the best West Coast Swing I have EVER seen! I wish they could do more stuff like this. It is THE video that pops up when you do a video search on "west coast swing" and rightfully so.
Soooooo kewl! Wish I could see the whole thing!
If I could dance like that I would never stop !, it´s like music with the body.
Wow! The two of you are just awesome!! You move together beautiful. My partner and I will have to incorporate some of those moves into our routine! This vid is just WAY too short. I'd love to see the rest of that dance!
I love the way you two move. P.O.E.T.R.Y on the dance floor! Best to both of you.
Still the best wcs video I've seen; I wish it wasn't cut sort.
Was für eine Harmonie und Leidenschaft, very good.
Watching you dance is addictive. Smooth and fluid. Beautiful.
wow, so floating, they are really "feeling" the floor, lovely to watch, my compliments!
Super SLICK dancing! I can't stop watching this vid.
Really glad to see them put the audio back on this video!
its because of you two dancing so beautifully that made me take up dancing... thanks a lot for inspiration. i start my first lesson today!
Tessa u are an awesome dancer. I like the smoothness in your moves
omg, i can't get enough of this video... fantastic!! I think lindy hop is going to have to take a back seat, 'cause now i'm going for learning west coast swing :P
Wow x 10. Saw this clip just before Christmas, tracked down a UK group that does lessons but none were local, got in touch, and now they're starting some classes near where I live! So roll on 12th Feb when they start :D This clip continues to be my inspiration, its just fantastic. Not sure how anyone could watch it and *not* want to be able to dance like this!!
These 2 are amazing, and not just in this video. I'm feeling inspired!
I love the way you guys dance. It just flows... AWESOME.
I love the passion in the dance! very exotic dance.
Great music and dance.so soothing together.
Like this, wasnt searching for it but really enjoyed it.
wow i just watched their choreographed video and i love this way more! i cant believe they flow so naturally and beautifully. i wish i had that kind of skill
Tessa is a TOC all the time at my school and taught a swing class today at during our health and welness conference with Myles.
Can't help but staring... I wish my bro would come and dance with me!
just a beautiful combo.
I wish this clip wasn't cut off so early. They were on a righteous roll.
i watch this clip almost every day..just puts a smile on my face :) 10x
you go for it dude. Don't let anyone stop you ^.^
just a word...
WOW!
wow, they're soo smooth
Whenever someone asks me what west coast swing is, I always reference them to this video. There's something hypnotic about the way you guys dance. The connection you two have is extraordinary and you make the dance seem effortless.
Yeah, this video needed to be longer. Great dancers!
Amazing dancing and love the song!
Beautiful. I'm a hardcore Argentine Tango dancer, and my friend's been recommending I give West Coast a shot. I've been looking for a new dance to try anyway, and this looks great to me. I love being able to play with the music my way, and this looks like it gives the freedom of expression I want. Thanks for putting this up.
OMG!! WOW!! You are some great dancers!
Good stuff. WCS and Ceroc (which has swept Europe and Australasia) have so much in common that I can imagine their eventually merging into a single entity ("Ceroc Swing"?). I dance Ceroc and there certainly isn't anything from this clip that I couldn't incorporate into my routines, though of course without anything approaching the fluency and skill exhibited by these two.
I like that, very cool and great song, i'll keep practising...!
Looks really good!
congrats. 1 mill viewers!
great dance & dancers really cool & orginal moves (ten).
I love your dancing ! It just looks so effortless and like you are having so much fun :)
Keep on representing Canada !!
You people are awesome... truly talented dancers. Keep it up, looking fwd to seeing more vids here
Is there somewhere where this whole routine is available its incredible and one of my favourites
?

Friction-free movement.Fab
A bit like 'Northern Soul' for couples.......I love it.
Eu amo tanto esse vídeo que eu sempre volto nele só pra namorar a sintonia desse casal dançando! I love it!

Hi Tessa... just like they say you are a life changer! Started ballroom dancing a year ago at 50. Saw this. I love the "Science" clip. Please let me know when you and Myles are in Mishawaka, IN... I'd love for you to meet Devan my teacher! - thanks, Camellia
This is amazing! I just love it!
great thx for posting love this =D
Hello, I'm mexican and I want to know which is this song. Please tell me. I'm an argentine tango dancer and I dance with other ritms like the blues or others like these. You're really amazing dancers. Congratulations!
DANG that was pretty slick
...and yet another one who began WCS, at 54, because of this very video. It truly never grows old; and do you have the full version available?
Myles and You make WCS accessible to the masses; while a lot of competition stuff barely resembles this casual urban dance.
Pete
LOOOVVEEE IT!!!!

West coast swing has to be the most confusing thing in the world to me. You guys could do it while drinking coffee =/ I doubt I will ever get like this
Beautiful dancing tho :)
funny, I dance this way to blues music. Now I know what it really is!
This girl is hot. I would tell anyone girl who wants to learn how to dance to watch this girl. Not just her steps or any one thing. Everything.
Sweet!!!!
@TessaCunningham Thankyou Tessa, the website looks great. Unfortunately there is no-one local to me that teaches west-coast swing and I dont learn the basics so well from Videos, still lovely to watch though.
~~ Just fab! come to London UK ;o)
You two are hott together!! I just started getting WCS lessons with a friend and we are having a great time learning it, you guys are a huge inspiration...thanks for sharing. Can you tell me who the music in this video is by, sounds like a great song to dance to.
