The “Have I paid you back now…Master Kohga?” are the most saddest words in the whole age of calamity game.

Imagine if we had a last stand sequence where you play as Sooga in what is a guaranteed game over that is giving you hope like in FF7 Crisis Core. As the fight goes on, the blights respawn and soon moblins, chuchus, hinoxes and linels join in and as the fight progresses, you get more flashbacks
Unlike many of the other characters in this game, sooga was one that players would have no knowledge about when playing breath of the wild.

So I actually have 2 theories.
1 ) The pool of resurrection. Yes, it's Sheikah technology, but so once were the yiga. They may still possess knowledge on how to build and use the pools, especially since they still practice magic
2 ) Canonically, "Master Kohga" is a title. So it may actually be a descendant

Didn’t play the game but love Gerald C River’s performance. He gives Sooga a strong, no-nonsense and dignified persona.

7:06 is the best scene ever. Sooga fighting for master Kohga after remembering what he did for him years ago really builds the character of sooga and I love it.

He did cut ties with Ganon after Sooga's death. Only in the alternate timeline AoC takes place though.
Ganon probably falsely promised the Yiga Clan favor if they worked for him.
I mean, ganon does help the yigas and respawn them if they are killed.
Only in the Age of Calamity timeline does sooga die to the blightganons, and thats probably astor's fault.
Probably we should wonder why the Yiga clan didn't cut ties with astor. Although... he did say 'if you decided to turn against me... you would make an enemy of Calamity Ganon'.. but he's an insane weirdo, i know sooga didn't like him.... they really shouldnt've trusted him. Even if they were on the same side for ¾ of AoC.

I wonder why most of the Yiga Clan swore allegiance. Calamity Ganon is millennia old. The original defectors might have had motivation but their purpose had been so diluted to the present day that they only do it out of principle for the clan. So why indeed?
Sooga is the greatest minor antagonist in the Zelda series and one of the best characters in general

Although he has a strong and loyal personality, it's Master Kogha's relatively chill demeanor that allows the Yiga Clan to truly thrive.
I love the dlc so much and what it added to Master Kohga and Sooga- I love the Zelda games

@@Delukatio Even so, AoC is still a split timeline similar to OOT's 3 split timelines.
But yea, the only connection to AoC in TOTK is foreshadowing Tulin's major role as a Sage of Wind. Either way, it would be a bombshell once Nintendo updates their timeline. It needs to answer Hyrule's foundation in relation to Skyward Sword, not some fan speculation that "the past games became legends in BOTW/TOTK".

If it makes you feel better, when you defeat yiga, it doesn't show a death animation. Instead, they just ninjitsu away.

You don't fight Sooga in the hideout, though, I think you either mean kohga or one of the blademasters

I feel him being used as a concept being a complete shame, they won’t do more of it, they already did it once. But think for a second the possibility, you beat a specific group of say 2 archers 1 long sword and 1 short sword, they start ambushing you again but you realize that where the long sword should be is now a large quick man with a scythe, next time the short sword is a nimble glaive wielder, giving the yiga slash sheika another entirely unique weapon type, then next the archers plate up in thick padding and wield like an X shape pattern 5 shot bow. But that concept is used now isn’t it. R.I.P. Sooga the fist and last badass yiga.

I have to wonder. Is Sooga not Sheikah? As I understand it, the Yiga Clan also recruit members that are regular Hylians, that do not have Sheikah ancestry. Is that why we don’t see him in Breath of the Wild? That he didn’t live long enough in the original timeline?
I mean yeah lore wise you're probably right, he's probably a Hylian. Realistically though apparently he's not in ToTK/BOTW because he's a Koei Tecmo character or something like that.

Sooga is still Super Mega hot. Like look at him. He's super mysterious, He's got a hot muscular body, he's loyal to his master and Husband Kohga, And overall he's the perfect man. We need more Sooga hotness. Him and Kohga deserve each other and the world. A true love story in modern times

Assuming Sooga is Sheikah. The Yiga Clan recruits members outside of the Sheikah. He could feasibly live long enough. If not, he didn’t live long enough as a normal Hylian.
man, why couldn't THIS guy be the leader of the Yiga? Kohga is funny... for like 3 minutes. then he just become so disappointing. ESPECIALLY in BOTW. I mean seriously, a boss battle with this guy would be legendary! but with Kohga? it was a joke that made me giggle the first time, but then just got boring as hell, really unsatisfying from a gameplay perspective IMO.
Then play aoc lol he is the real leader and also koogha is a lot more menacing in this game

Considering that Kohga is probably hundreds of years old and past his prime, he is more like the glue and the respected mentor figure that keeps the organization together, while the hard work is done by members like Sooga and other blade masters. This is pretty common in real life, think of him as the chill boss who goofs around with his employees, while having some other middle manager handing out the real work.
