No matter how good a shot you are or how good the gear is, bowhunting is a game of close range for this very reason… especially on an animal that alert.
That Sucks , Total Waste, Must learn to control yourself and not take unethical shots, no matter how great or how far you can shoot targets. Animals past 25 yards that are on the alert, are very risky of wounding and losing all that meat, because you can't eat the antlers ! After 45 years of strictly Bow-hunting, I understand its going to happen to the best of us, but after enough years of experience, should have learned our lesson by now, but that's what happens when you get possessed with Big Antlers ! It starts to get Ugly !!! I've passed on 170 plus, before, at less than 40 yards, because it was a low percentage shot opportunity. Not easy to do !
It sucks being poor and not having the education to make lots of money to be able to hunt beautiful land and big whitetail deer. I only dream of this stuff. must be nice. I know y'all worked for it hats off.
I've recently started watching your channel since I've been thinking about getting back into archery hunting, and its pretty calming to watch this, especially now with all the turmoil & division this country is going through right now. Thank you guys. Your lifestyle inspires me
It’s amazing how fast those deer can react and how far they can move so quickly. That’s why it would be really hard to get me to shoot over 35 yards on a whitetail. Especially if they’re on edge.
Congratulations for you tht r saying u have this deer at 40 and aint shooting im calling bs u men would done same thing tht sarah did not to mention the women was 6 months pregnant girl truth is ones looking dwn on u may not ever even see tht caliber of deer my target shed early and broke points i made the decision to let him wlk til nxt year so i aint been seeing tht caliber of deer either but I did find his shed left side the full side but congrats to you

The harsh reality of bow hunting whitetails and bow hunting in general. You live and learn from every encounter and harvest on what couldve went better and what us, the hunter, shouldve done differently. Congratulations Sarah! What an amazing whitetail
Hey guys Congratulations on a Great video and Hunt!! I'm starting to see why you guys are always on World Class Whitetail, it's because you put an enormous amount of pride and effort into your Farms, so Good for you guys!! I was taught that hard work pays off in so many differnt ways in our lives, and it's never let me down !! Thank you guys for sharing part of your lives!! God Bless!! Good things come to Good people,, gotta believe!!
I just jumped in to thank the creators of this for pointing out that the person in the opening picture, with the bow at full draw, was indeed a woman hunter. I never would have made the connection Mr. Obvious
Congrats on one heck of a deer. At 73 years old and bow hunting for well over 50 years, it still amazes me just how fast they react to a shot. Love the video and congrats on the very special upcoming event.
It's time to insulate the inside of the shed, Sarah. Trust me, it'll be worth it. If it wasn't for the echo in the shed increasing the sound of the bow especially at that distance, the deer would've reacted a milli second too late and you would've nailed the shot... I'm still glad you took that shot. Because maybe that deer would've reacted differently and got hit. Rated: 10 on patience 10 on aim 10 on this story to tell your child 😁
Always sucks when things don't go the way you plan.. She is a really good shot idk why she didn't take the shot at 45... but things happen my buck this year was basically the same thing ..43 yards and he wasn't really happy about my decoy and got kinda jumpy. I let the shot off and it felt great..he dropped and spun ..he was quartering to me pretty hard so when he spun it kinda put him broadside hit high and more forward then I wanted but still got 1 lung on the exit .found him maybe about 100 yards from where I shot him..Things happen though..atleast at some point they found him .
Tough way for a great animal to go but things are not always perfect I've had some tough ones my self over 50 years of hunting and that's a rough one for sure
Things dony always go as planned and this is a rough one for sure ive had it happen to me over 50 years of hunting sad when it does but all we can do is the best we can
My target 12 point buck last year, was hit by a car just days before the archery opener. Talk about taking the wind out of ones sale! 😔 Durring the gun season opener, the weather went into the sewer, & got worse from there, with rain & strong winds. Spring turkey hunting didn't happen either, weather still not improved. Went from 2.5 feet of snow to melting within days & flooding, basically robbing us of a spring transition. Still to windy for the ground blind or turkey decoys. Very frustrating. 😑 So sorry about Dagger! With my old bow, I completely missed 5 deer, either ducking or jumping the arrow, one doe at only 25 yards, arrow went exactly where it was supposed to but the deer dodged it again, playing Hudini on me. Like trying to shoot a ghost, nothing but air. New bow in 15, not a shooter seen since. 🤷♂️
Dang i hate that for you but glad y’all got some closer on the buck, those things happen unfortunately even to the best of us, stay positive and thanks for the video
I couldn’t help but notice on the post picture that the arrow is pointing at a rather large female anatomy part. Is that to make some kind of point that she really is a female?
Awesome work and hunt congratulations to the bowmars been waiting on your videos all fall awesome buck .. not the way we want it but atleast you got your hands on the giant....
In a long shots I alway go double lungs. At 25 yards I do heart shot but long distance everything can happens congratulations and good bless your family.
We a 100% agree. Middle of the middle for long range shots are always the goal. I think in the heat of the moment, everything went haywire in this situation.
Congratulations, Sarah. It's nice you never have up locating him. Even though you didn't get the meat, at least nature did. Great video, top-notch and quality. Thank you for sharing.
I found a buck's skull beside my brother-in-law's stand back in November. The buck had shed his antlers, but didn't make it through the winter. Such a shame. I gave the the skull to him. That gave me an idea also. He had no trail cams. I drew his name for Christmas and gave him a trail cam to help him pattern the deer on his property. Only fair, since I took a doe and a button buck (Thought it was a doe!) this past season. I worked them both up and gave half the meat to my in-laws. I do this every year. They let me stay at their house (deer camp!) and feed me. I'm their favorite son-in-law, because I'm their ONLY son-in-law! I am very fortunate to have such a loving family!
i had a similar incident in 2011, shot a nice 8 point but i hit him too far back, he was on a doe and she saw me up in the tree. he followed her so he didn't bed, i found him 2 days later on the other side of the mountain but the meat was bad. that shot was my fault and it haunts me, but that's why its called hunting and not killing. you guys have an awesome farm there, good luck next time, God bless.
That is a nice buck but Sarah is the unicorn. She is absolutely beautiful with an awesome personality and if there ever was a perfect woman it would be her.
Incredibly Hunt guys!! Really enjoy watching your channel. Just discovered you guys. Do you know how far the buck was found from where Sarah shot him? Just curious how far he actually made it.
When you are a pure trophy hunter often times there isn't the level of respect needed to give the animal the patience it deserves to wait for the most humane shot. Dagger deserved more then a 50-yard Longshot. As a result of not waiting for a better shot this champion died a slow suffering death. Please, if you're going to trophy hunt and post it on RUclips. Give these deer the respect God requires and ensure they are dispatched humanely. That requires enough respect for the animal to be patient for the right shot. That was not the right shot. Hopefully lesson learned.
Not my favorite bow hunt video. Don't like to see animals suffer. That Buck needed to relax into the area, he was far too alert. Having said that you are both so talented and thank you for the generally amazing content. Much love and blessings! Michael
Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine ruclips.net/user/postUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older. But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.
Lesson learned,"No stopping the deer in that situation!". In my opinion anyway. Ya finally get a shot at this animal and your trying your hardest not to rush it and blow it. I completely understand. What I took away you have to be decisive, quick and take the shot when he was relaxed and broadside. They just react to damn quick once they've been alerted from a blind anyway. Great recovery though. It'd been cool if you could've showed us aerial view of his suspected travel, where he ended up and how far from the blind, etc. .

it really is, their reaction is impressive to say the least
the lesson here is don't shoot at an alert deer at over 30yds! imagine how big he would have been next year.

You need to put insulation or foam padding in your blind. It will make it soundproof more, and the weather won’t have as big swings in temperature
