    Last story, my cousin was harassed by her HOA and by the time she was finished the HOA ended up paying her $1.5 million in damages and $300,000 in Attorney fees. She is a real estate attorney who works from home so these idiots thought she was a housewife they could walk all over. The final straw was when the HOA president deliberately ran over her kids bicycle while it was in her yard 20 feet from the street. When it was over the HOA president, secretary, treasurer, and 2 other board members were criminally charged with several felonies each. They had to sell/turn over their homes to pay for the damages they inflicted upon members. The HOA was then disbanded. My cousin ended up owning 3 of the 5 houses and rents them to veterans and families with disabilities. (Part of the harassment was over her being in a wheelchair and installing a ramp outside of her home.) She now rents out 3 $600,000 plus homes to the vets and disabled families for far less than market rent plus utilities. These families are saving $2,000 per month that they are able to spend on other more pressing needs. The rent she charges covers the property taxes and allows her to put around $1,500 a month aside to cover repairs when necessary. I laughed when the HOA attorney realized just who was suing because my cousin has a reputation as a very good attorney when it comes to real estate litigation.

    My sister witnessed some thing similar at a fast food joint, she said the woman berated the hard working kid behind the counter, then called corporate to complain to them, demanding the kid be fired, and that's when all hell broke loose. Somebody yelled at her while she was on the phone, "You're a miserable old bat that wants everybody to be as miserable as you", and the insults took off from there. She stopped her call, and ran out the door, as everyone supported the kid, who was busting butt to help them. Some times it only takes one loud voice to stand against a bully, to get others to stand up too.

      We had a young cashier in the store
      she only worked for two days
      and, of course, sometimes there is a crowd, especially when there is a new employee
      and a man found himself yelling at her, how incompetent and worthless she is, she literally burst into tears of misery
      before any of the male colleagues could manage and save her, a big man over 2 meters tall, 3 normal people wide (the ideal type for a rugby player) stepped out of line, grabbed the cheeky customer by the collar of his shirt, with one hand, with the other hand he grabbed him by the hem of his pants and literally carried him to the door of the store and threw him out
      there was a big round of applause from the other customers, and he leaned towards the cashier and just said, "if you ever get attacked by that guy again, just tell me"
      and then he went back in line to his wife as if nothing had happened

    Life lesson for litterbug: calling your opponent a Nazi does not autowin you an argument.

    • @melkiorwiseman5234
      @melkiorwiseman5234 4 месяца назад

      Ad hominem (sp?) aka "attacking the man" is a well-known logical fallacy. What matters is whether or not the argument is true and correct, not who is making the argument. But the vast majority of people still resort to it when they're losing / have lost an argument. Worse, people who agree with that side of the argument will often pretend that an ad hominem argument has somehow proven their side and shout down any well-reasoned arguments to the contrary.

    • @Chuckf66
      @Chuckf66 4 месяца назад

      Fun fact: the "litterbug" concept was created by companies like Coca Cola to dodge their responsibilities when it comes to the amount of rubbish their products were generating. The end result is the appalling amount of single-use packaging that's currently suffocating the planet.

      Agreed. I've worked retail and the number of times people seemed to think calling me a Nazi, a racist, a sexist, a terrorist, or some other thing was an auto win that was going to make me submit and do what they told me was unreal.

    Theft story: Just because a police officer is off duty it doesn't mean he's not still a police officer and can ignore a criminal act taking place right in front of him. Sheesh!
    Litter story: Not to mention OP could have taken video and called the police, though I doubt they would have done much of anything. Still worth the effort though.
