  • The Lion King Reaction is today's video! Hey everyone! Join me as I watch The Lion King today for the first time as an adult!
This Disney animated feature follows the adventures of the young lion Simba (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), the heir of his father, Mufasa (James Earl Jones). Simba's wicked uncle, Scar (Jeremy Irons), plots to usurp Mufasa's throne by luring father and son into a stampede of wildebeests. But Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed. Simba returns as an adult (Matthew Broderick) to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon (Nathan Lane) and Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella).

Everything about the live action remake of The Lion King is infuriating. It does everything the same as original film, but in a less impactful way. All the charm and emotion has been sucked out, The voice acting is so wooden, there's no personality to the characters, Mufasa's death in the remake was laughable, even the song Can You Feel The Love Tonight makes no sense. It doesn't even take place in the night time, it's broad daylight throughout the whole song.

What i love about scar's defeat is that it was his own fault. Like think about it, scar had simba right where he wanted him, all he had to do was just throw simba off of pride rock, but what does he do instead?? He confesses his crime. And because of that, simba got the strength to fight back and forced him to confess it to everyone which leads the lionesses fight back. And what makes it worse for himself is that he tries to make himself the victim by putting the blame on the hyenas, and of course the hyenas eat him alive. All this happened because he was dumb to do one little mistake... confessing the murder to simba. So yea, his plan was going perfectly but he just couldn't resist to gloat and hurt simba's emotions. And you see, that's the biggest reason why most villains lose, they start to gloat their upcoming victory instead of trying to finish off the heroes, which makes the heroes fight back and get the victory 😂

Here’s some fun facts about The Lion King. Though some of you already know them.
-In the early stages of production it was under several different titles; King of Kalahari, King of Beast and most notably King of the Jungle.
-Rafiki was originally gonna be a cheetah.
-It was originally gonna be a war between lions and baboons.
-Johnathon Taylor Thomas from Home Improvement plays Young Simba.
-Matthew Broderick who plays Adult Simba, previously played in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
-The Mufasa’s ghost scene wasn’t originally gonna be in the movie but they decided to add it so Simba gets motivated to return to the Pride Lands.
    - Tim Curry was originally gonna play Scar.
-Mufasa was originally gonna have a song called “Mighty King of the Wild”.
-James Earl Jones & Madge Sinclair (Sarabi) previously played in the Eddie Murphy movie “Coming to America”.

@@christopherking4932 there are around 3 different accounts on how Scar got his injury. In the book A Tale of Two Brothers, Scar got it from a water buffalo named Boma after trying to make a fool of Mufasa by setting him up against Boma. This action backfired and got Scar instead. This happened because of Scar's jealousy towards Mufasa, whom he believed was the favorite child of their parents. The second account was told in The Lion Guard, which is set in between Lion King 1 and 2. Scar came back during this time and explained to one of his minions on how he got it. it was revealed that when Scar was younger, he met a rogue lion who offered his help in overthrowing Mufasa, but the rogue's cobra companion bit Scar on the eye and poisoned him, which gradually worsened and brought out his darker instincts. Scar killed the rogue lion and his cobra, and was given the nickname "Scar" by Mufasa who was claimed to be apathetic to Scar's plight. The last account was in the remake where it is implied that it was Mufasa who possibly gave Scar his injury after challenging Mufasa in the past and lost, trying to court Sarabi, who ultimately chose Mufasa over Scar. I think in the upcoming prequel, they'll possibly explain this in greater detail. Hope this helped!

The live-action remake is a blatant copy of the original only for the sake of 'answering the plot holes' which are misconstrued and unimportant in the films that people questioned over the years. If The Little Mermaid live-action remake was only made to answer plot holes, like Ariel wrote a sign to communicate with Eric, instead of making something new, like 2016 The Jungle Book, or adapting the original books, then it'll fall to the same trap as The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast remake.

Nice reaction, I love The Lion King so much. Timon and Pumbaa are my favorites. My favorite song is “Be Prepared.” You know, Cody, The Lion King 1 1/2, also known as The Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata, is a retelling of the first Lion King, but from Timon and Pumbaa’s perspective, because it tells the backstory of how they first met and what they were up to all along while the first half of the movie was focusing on Simba, prior to him meeting Timon and Pumbaa. Timon and Pumbaa were also watching their own movie in the theaters, which I’m sure it’s their twin doppelgängers who look and act the same way as their actual versions that belong inside the movie, and the film also includes an extended version of the song, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” which I love that version of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

okay first thing, childhood movie! Still so epic as it had been when it first was released.
I wanted to hug you every time you cried, especially with Mufasa's death.
I can't wait for Simba's pride though along with train to busan. Great reaction of a great rewatch, though! Can't wait for the next one!

Thank you so much for this rewatch! The Lion King was literally my life; I’m the same age as the film. I got to do make up for the junior stage musical and aspire to be Pumbaa in the Broadway musical. I can’t wait for you to see the sequel. I really hope you’ll consider doing the midquel, The Lion King 1 1/2.

Wouldn’t mind going to see it again to be honest! Great reaction as always! 😊

The reason Simba kept falling for everything was his lack of experience and innocence when it came to Scar; as far as Simba knew he was just his odd-ball uncle, he had no way of knowing of Scar's manipulative habits unless explicitently told, and I guess Mufasa was just hoping that Uncle-hood would've been what changed his brother for the better; as for why Mufasa didn't piece the whole canyon thing together was a mix of that dreadfilled horror of knowing his only child was literally in the middle of a deadly stampede and the fact Simba never told him Scar was the one who told him about the Elephant Graveyard in the first place, as well as the urgency of getting to Simba's aid; Scar's darn lucky his family was so loving

I've actually been to the area inspired by the wildebeest stampede. in Kenya it's a region called the Hell's Gate Gorge. I've walked through it.
this one the pinnacle of the Disney Renaissance back in the day. the best of that whole decade of those animated films from Disney.

The Lion King is definitely one of if not my all time favorite animated Disney film. What I love so much is how well this film was made. I sort of drifted away but the Lion king will always hold a place in my heart. I remember how excited I was to see the movie in 4th grade. It was incredible. And after seeing all the deleted scenes it was very easy for this film to either bomb or be to horrifying for kids so I’m couldn’t have wanted this film to result in any other way. It is a gold standard perfect film beginning to end and I hope it stays that way.

I don't think enough people realize not only does Mufasa realise that he's about to be murdered-knowing him that's probably the least of his concern-but he's just realised it's all a trap. The fate of the kingdom now relies on a tyrant. His brother finally got what he always wanted.
And worst of all? His son is still alive. He knows simba's still alive because he got him onto the perch before he tried to get himself to safety.
Mufasa knew scar was going after simba next, and he couldn't save him.

The very first time in my life that I watched this movie it was already 6 years old cuz it came out in 1994 if I remember right. So even though I had no clue what they were saying well English words wise just watching the picture alone I had an idea what was going on, and man does it hit somebody that doesn't know English very well, but gets an idea by just pictures alone. I had to say my worst part would have to be the Stampede secen simply because there was so much chaos going on, and then the aftermath. Yet at the same time when Simba return to take his place the Battle of Pride Rock and him versus scar. Man now that was awesome even though it was a bit obviously brutal they still knew how to nail it in the animation department. I think that's probably one of my more favorable parts.

A big thing that goes over people's heads is Simbas practice roar in the gorge he thought caused the stampede wasn’t because Scar teased him about it.
It was because Scar implied MUFASA was talking about it to the other lions and laughing about it, hence how Scar knew.

The Lion King is, to this day, my favorite Disney movie. And I know he's evil, but I love Scar. I saw this movie when it came out in theaters, then they re-released it in theaters for it's 10th anniversary and I saw that. Then I saw it a few years after that, when they released it on IMAX. Plus, I watched the VHS, and later, the DVD of this movie more times than I can count. I actually know the entire movie by heart, lol.
I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to The Lion King 2. A lot of times, the Disney sequels are not very good, but The Lion King 2 is an excellent movie. The songs in the second movie rival the songs of the first one. The first Lion King movie has the Hamlet storyline, where the second film is more like Romeo and Juliet. There is also The Lion King 1 1/2. It came out after The Lion King 2. I didn't care for it as much, but it's still worth watching.
I absolutely loved the musical, too. I live in California, but the Broadway cast went on tour and I saw it in Hollywood...twice! You'll recognize one of the songs from the musical in The Lion King 2.
I also saw the live-action version. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but it was still bad. They totally butchered "Be Prepared", which is my favorite song in The Lion King. The original animated version is still so much better.
