I just came from a 10 day trip to Rome. Ive been to many countries around the world. Rome was the only city that i felt really really sad to leave, it was just beautiful.
Sadly that fountain is currently under refurbishment atm hopefully be done for the summer. But they have drained all water and constructed a viewing platform bridge over the top of it so perhaps not 😔
I have been to Rome on my own twice. The first time I was 43 years old and read all the "safe" ways to go about my trip. The best thing to do is learn as much Italian as you can - it goes a long way. Secondly, be confident and challenge prices i.e public transport prices ( they know you're a tourist ) and they always try to add on a couple of Euros- just say NO! And what is the normal price for a bus ticket? Thirdly, relax, you're there to enjoy yourself! Whatever you do, always throw yourself into their way of life - don't eat or drink near a tourist spot. Go into the back streets where the Italians go - much cheaper and a better experience. And finally, this is the best time you'll ever have - " When in Rome ". Ciao
i am an African, the more i have learnt about the Roman Empire the more i have wanted to visit Rome, The Engineering and Mathematics behind the Colosseum damn!!!
Rome is so beautiful and magical! I will always remember my 1st visit there. I fell in love with the city and with an Italian guy whom I never saw again later...Only nice memories. Long live Italia!
Wow Rome is amazing city .... full of historical places every where anywhere amazing 😉 I have been there end of 2019... I wish the best for all Italian.... I hope 🤞 I will be there again ❤️ lovely ❤️ ROME....
Totday i returned from Rome, and Im in a deep depression, it was such a beautiful city and really one of the best and greatest cities i’ve ever been to
Hello everyone, I am a Roman citizen, just some advices to the tourists who visit Rome. During your sightseeing, keep away from anyone who wants to sell you something, especially in Via dei Fori Imperiali (connecting Piazza Venezia to the Colosseum). In the metro stations and at the Roma Termini train station you could meet strangers who offer their help to buy your ticket, keep away from them, nothing dangerous but rather annoying. Every automatic ticket machine has its instructions in English. In Rome you will not be in any dangerous situation, the police are efficient and present throughout the central area. Enjoy Rome.
I've been to Rome several times for at least a week each time and still find there's a lifetime of things still to see. Rome is the most fascinating city in the world! If you get the chance to go, don't pass it by, grab it and I bet you'll want to go again and again! Enjoy Rome, enjoy Italy and remember - be nice to the people there and they most surely will reciprocate the same to you. ciao!
The first hotel we stayed at was near Pantheon we went out walking around 9 pm and managed by accident to see many of the historical sites such as Trevi fountain. It was not nearly as crowded and later went back during day to things that were closed. The third hotel we stayed at next to Spanish Steps we booked standard room last minute and they upgraded us for free at no request to penthouse with private chef. It helped as well to explore Italy with Italian friends who lived there. I loved Rome but Santa Margarita and Portofino were my favorite along Italian Riveria. We enjoyed Venice, Milan and Genoa as well. I can't wait to go back and explore more.
My dream school offers a study abroad trip to Rome for about 6 weeks. I’m dying to go. Especially wanting to be a classics major. It looks so beautiful and it’s always been a dream of mine.
+I Rasponi. in the Netherlands we have a saying (it might be known somewhere else though, but I don't know haha) that is 'all roads lead to Rome' which literally is what it is, but it stands for that there are more ways to get what you want or how you can do something :)
Great video of Rome I have been twice over the last two years and the advice offered is sound. It is a fantastic place you will need to go off season and for a least a week at a time not to miss the major sites but you could be in Rome for a year and still not see all the places of interest.BELLA ROMA!!
Just got back from my first visit to Rome. WOW. Now Im really stuck on whether to go back or try some place new cause it was really that impressive and there was so much I couldnt see in 5 days. Didnt find this video all too useful. One point of advice Ill give is to get the Roma pass. It got me inside the Colosseum in literally 3 minutes while hundreds of suckers stood in long lines.
Some excellent advice. We visit Rome regularly and stay in Trastevere. An area full of restaurants and nightlife but with quiet side streets with lots of apartments to rent. We shop for food in the shops and market in Piazza di S. Cosimato, cooking for ourselves so we can dine in a really nice restaurant a couple of times a week. A wonderful city with lovely people especially if you try a few words in Italian.
I'm Italian and I live in Rome, and I really have to say: WOW. What a beautiful city is Rome. Even if I live here, everytime I go out I figure out how awesome this city can be. Every single corner of it is magic. If you really want to visit Rome, a place that I reccomend to you is: PINCIO. It's just amazing, you can see the whole city from the top of one of the most beautiful park in Rome. Go and see it, everytime I go out with my friends, I go there!
I enjoyed watching your video. My family and I recently got back from a 3 week vacation in Europe where we spent time in Rome exploring the sites. It was amazing. We can't wait to go back!
One of the best things to do in Roma is to admiring the sunshine from the Gianicolo (one of the seven hills of the city). For many reasons: 1 -It's the best Rome view. 2- In the quiet atmosphere of the Gianicolo park you can see the marmoles of the main monuments at sunshine light becoming orange/ going on fire 3 - you see in front of you like a big history book at open air.
Did a very good job of presenting what I just experienced a few weeks ago. It was as if I had seen the video before I left and followed the video's suggestions, except I opted for hop-on, hop-off buses and cabs rather than public transportation. Good stuff here.
"don't forget to leave a good tip" ...except tipping isn't a thing in Italy (I'm italian) or most european countries. oh well you'll at least put a smile on the server's face lol
I'm from Norway, and while it isn't required to tip over here, most leave around 10% despite insane prices. :D I'll definitively tip in Rome too, if only to see the waiter smile.
I'm British and I have not idea how tipping works. Kind of scared to go to America in case they chase me down the street for tipping the wrong amount haha.
I'm 38 and it still gave me something, especially considering where to stay. Not too many go to Rome just to get drunk. Most go to see the sites and re-live history. Getting drunk and hitting on the chicks is just a bonus! :D
What I like about Rome is that it has the most romantic places, aside from the best galleries in the city it also offers ancient sites and fascinating piazzas. No doubt it's one of the most traveled city in the world. After all you can spend less but see more of it. :)
Thank you so much for posting this beautiful, inspired, and inspiring video! It brings back and reinforces great memories of my first solo spring break in the city:)
Excellent tip: October is definitely the best month to visit Rome, it's what the Romans call "ottobrata" (not really translatable but has a very positive meaning referring to the pleasant climate, among the many amazing things the eternal city has to offer...)
When i was in Rome i found an excellent restaurant across the piazza from Santa Maria Magiore, i really recommend it to anyone who visits the city. It was next to a betting shop if you can't find it.
I lived in the States for years, I kind of liked it but please ( no offence here ) you simply do not understand the meaning of good food !!! Almost every American that eats over here consider the Restaurant in wich they are in to be excellent while for us Italians is basically s.... Even worst, every American who comes here has some reccomandation for a " good restaurant " given to them by some friends and so on.......... and most of the time are the kind of places where we Romans don't go!!! REAL Italian food is truly excellent that's why Tourists ( doesn't matter from where ) believes to be in a good, real Italian place even when they're not...!!! And that is also why all those terrible " Restaurants " in the old centre manage to survive... Surely we do not go there!!! A good Italian Restaurant next to St. Maria Maggiore? Surely NOT for my Italian palate.... ;-) Lol
+Michael Dean Who can follow these directions, when new in Rome? You have to give the name of the restaurant, and at least the name of the piazza. Thanks.
I'm italian from the north of the country, I made the mistake to try to visit Rome in two days...After hours of running around to see everything I was so tired that there's just a thing I appreciated of the beautiful Altare della Patria: its benches xD Every square metre of Rome worths to be seen, and there are lots of square metres xD so you need time, at least a week, to see everything without running. Trust me, Rome worths your time!
Fortunately hotels are located on just about every other street. Most hotels are within a 15-20 minute walking distance from any attraction. Very accessible city, I was only ever confused with the street names being on the building walls and not traffic lights lol.
if you want to eat well, i suggest you to ask a roman....too many touristic traps in the center:P you should move out from the center for eating in my opinion.... a roman citizien
I've heard the same thing but in regards to Paris. Many people I know who have traveled out of country numerous times than I have said that the market spots are geared towards tourists because they "think" they know what a tourist might like.
I agree 100% plus, don't forget that restaurants, delis, kiosks that are right next to the tourist spots charge ridiculous prices, and this basically is the rule all over Europe. For example I paid $20 for a cup of coffee while having a small lunch right next to the pantheon, whereas it only cost $5, 4 blocks down in a non touristy area.
***** yup! It was €15, which is about $20, and no I'm not exaggerating. I guess they feel it's a privilege or something. Trip on this, in St. Marks Square, in Venice, a cup of coffee costs €15 if you choose to sit at one of their plaza tables, and no, I'm not exaggerating on that one either.
It's not the drink that was expensive. You are sitting at a table and in Italy, they charge for that on top of the drink. That is why you see so many locals standing....so they don't have to pay extra!
I can't wait to go to Rome! It was so sudden and I've never been abroad, but I'm still a kid. Last minute break. Although we're only going for a weekend it'll be long enough to like go to some of the famous landmarks and taste real Italian pizza and pasta :)
Trevi Fountain is currently undergoing restoration, but is scheduled to be completed in the Fall of 2015. If going to Rome it would be worth the wait to go after restoration has finished.

That's true. We went there last week and I want to go back again. Amazing and beautiful country. Love it.
Will be there in May 2022. I keep extending … another day…. another day…. SO SAD that Segways have been banned. I was counting on them.
I threw a coin into the Trevi Fountain back in 2009, I'm returning this summer :)
Hey! What month are you looking to travel? I'm looking for a travel buddy. I'm from the US. Let me know!
Sadly that fountain is currently under refurbishment atm hopefully be done for the summer. But they have drained all water and constructed a viewing platform bridge over the top of it so perhaps not 😔
i threw a coin in 25 years ago...stil no plans to return yet :( I'm worried i will soon run out of time
@@danielj4818 biggest question: how much did they pull out of there...and who got to keep it ?

Crazy how a 14 year old video is still better than most of the crappy vlogs available today.

Sun up above, still you keep watch on your city of Rome! Nothing greater you've seen and never will see a thing greater. Horace
Rome is the heart of Europe

I Rasponi. there are also maps of europe that show it, and it looks pretty cool, you should look it up! :)
Fleur You're right i should look it, if you have a link picture, it would be great

I gotta say this guys great at travel advice. Perfect tips and great video.
Great video! Tons of useful, well paced bits of info. Serious.. but funny too! :)
