I think it's great that he can make fun of himself, his vanity is amusing. His son is also amazingly sarcastic & beautiful to watch.
Fun Fact: Gene Simmons apparently has the KISS statues from the movie "Dazed and Confused".

Rightly so, he came from extreme poverty and even when Kiss started it took them three years until they finally made it big, they were so poor that they actually lived in the rehearsal space, did multiple jobs to get by and the record company was in an impossible depth.
Gene walks into that room going "I overcame all that and I NEVER go back again!"
