2020 I enjoyed more then 2021, especially because the meaning of it. The reason behind the poor performance from Israel (my country) after diva, is because since the 70 up until late 90s, Eurovision was almost sacred, everyone was watching it hoping to win. After diva won, people felt less the need to prove themselves to the world and more focus about the Palestinian uprising, the 2000s were full of terror attacks, not really the time for Eurovision. But we did kinda are going back since golden boy in 2015. Some fun facts: Ilanit was the one that brought Eurovision to Israel, but was bitter she didn't won. Kaveret (second song): are known as the Israeli Beatles, they were popular back then. Yardena arazi, is one of the singers from chocolate menta mastik. Ofra Haza's performance is one of the most powerful for Israelis, first song to have non European sounds, like kh, to use Hebrew to its fullest and not be scared of European judgment. They were singing in Germany wearing yellow to resemble the yellow stars of David that the Nazis made Jews wear. Singing on German land about how the Jews live and stay strong. I think you will really like her other songs! Happy birthday song is played in every birthday, most people don't know it's from Eurovision. Sameach song was considered by the Israeli broadcast their biggest embarrassment, and if I remember correctly the writer was banned from the broadcasting organisation, I may be wrong on that. Ole ole lost votes primerly because the voice of one of the backup singers cracked durning performance (blonde girl) Rita was incredibly famous in Israel during the 90s Everybody were disappointed on the song that sarit hadad had to sing because she is famous for middle eastern Hebrew songs not for English ballads.
16:24 actually they're singing in arabic in this specific clip :) The whole point of the song was to sing in Hebrew and arabic (and a little english) because "There must be another way". It's honestly one of my favorite entries of ours, shame it only got 16th.
I loved your honest reaction for Israel and they are my favourite Eurovision Country Kaveret 1974 still sounds fresh today.Rita should have had a better song to sing and so should Sarit Hadad. Ofra Haza should have won with Chai.. and also Golden Boy should have won too.. I believe 2020 Feker Libi would have gone Top 5 It was fantastic and fresh.and better than set me free although I love that too. Israel should go back to singing in its beautiful Hebrew language.
Ofra Haza - 1983 or 1984 had a hit with a song called In Min Aloo and guested on a Sisters of Mercy song called Temple of Love. I liked Time the 2012 entry too.
Shiri Maimon from 2005 is one of my favorite Israeli entries but in general they chose very good entries.
For me Shiri Maimon in 2005 is one of the best Eurivision entries, not just Israel!!!
yo thats crazy the way you pronounce the hebrew words sound very similar to how Russian Israelis(who learned hebrew after russian) pronounce them
Maybe its because I live close to Russia :D
I am from Lithuania.
thank you for your decent reaction greeting from Israel !
I also love those 70/80s funky rythmic songs...and 2020 was better than 2021
2020 is far better that 2021. Strange how from always being in the top in the 70/80's they started going down in 90's and 2000's.
2020 was for sure better than 2021, Feker Libi was frankly a guaranteed winner
You say the hebrew words very well 👍
