When I was just 18 years old, doctors and pharmacists would tell me "this is just how it works, as they would demand more and more money". I was shocked and appalled but yet I participated for years. There was a time when the main company producing oxycodone 30s was temp shut down for overdosing the pills.......I remember distinctly walking into a pharmacy woth a line out the door, everyone whispering to the pharmacist "any blues?" With a quiet desperation. He would say no I'm so sorry.......so I went to leave and before I could he called my name, invited me to the back....and we negotiated price for over ten minutes. With me literally telling the pharmacist, if I pay you 7 a pop that takes half my margin......he cleverly replied, "well, Goodluck on maintaining that margin, you may wish later you took my deal" so I did. Pharmacists would also front me ten or twenty, so I could hustle up the money for the whole script. All of it grimy, disgusting, im so happy I found a way out

It's almost impossible to that these days because most states have prescription drug monitoring programs. When you are as addicted as this guy, a legitimate 30 day supply isn't even enough to make it through a whole day. If he tried to refill it again before the 30 days, he'd be flagged in the system. It sounds like he was just desperate because no one could keep up with his habit.

I work for a pharmacy and all controlled medications usually are sent in via escribe for this very reason!!
This has been particularly useful for controlled substances.
Even with the paper scripts issues like these were not common because we always took the right steps and precautions!

I’ve been on opiates for almost 10 years, and I’m only 34 years old. I have Parkinson’s Disease, something I developed (genetically) after years of undiagnosed seizures, so the pain I experience is unreal. Without the medication I wouldn’t be able to move around at all. I outline this, because it’s people like this m*ron ruining everything for patients like me who truly need it. It just further tightens the laws and makes chronic pain patient have to BEG for meds they’ve been taking (as prescribed) for TEN YEARS. Imagine getting serious time from foraging lean scripts, the weakest opioid BY FAR, which you ONLY feel because of the promethazine (an antihistamine medication like Claritin) that’s making you so tired. The codeine content is a joke, and not worth going to jail over

Here's the thing. This incident just made it harder for people who truly need those medicines. Bc now those pharmacies and Dr offices are going to be monitored big time. For some of us on long-term pain management meds, it's already incredibly hard to get anything. Being young with chronic issues that call for pain meds, everyone looks at you sideways. I have been called a charlatan, a drug seeker, and even delusional until they saw my xrays and MRIs. No one even bats a lash when the pain is so bad you can't bathe or wipe your own behind.
I watched both of my cousins, who are known addicts go into an ER and say their pinky hurts and the ER physicians always say, "What do you need?" And they end up getting. I'm in a ER with my BP at stroke level, and barely walking, I ask for a Toradol shot bc I don't want the awful rebound headaches and I get an Ibuprofen and sent on my way unless I protest for something stronger for breakthrough pain relief. Thankfully, I did my own research and figured out how to help myself, and found a doctor who wasn't afraid to give me the meds I truly needed.
She said "Deborah Cox??? ".. she could have told a better lie than that . but..see how he keeps getting in trouble...I think his childhood was pretty rough and unstable.. until the adapted family .... I'm not justifying his behavior... Just saying the scar is deeper than the consequences , because it has never been completely healed.. taking all things outside the charges into account...I was expecting to find something more criminal....to my surprise i found pain and I'm not saying he was right for what he did.. I'm just saying why he did it
