I truly think a shredder is a good investment. It can take care of sensitive items so quickly, so you can shred right away rather than letting it pile up. I consider myself a minimalist but very much value my shredder.
You should look at getting a Rocket book Notebokk. You can write on it, scan to your phone or computer, erase it, and reuse it. I love mine. No more paper waste.
I've been on my decluttering/ minimalism journey for about 5 years (had a very resistant husband lol) and I am still a paper hoarder 🙈 need to go through and digitise everything that I think I might need so I can finally get rid of it 🙃
You haven’t posted in a long time, I really hope you’re doing great and are just taking a little break. I miss your videos, you’re one of my favorite RUclipsrs. Sending you much love❤️
Every household in my family has a shredder. Identiy theft is such a pain in the ass. A $30 shredder is totally worth the cost. Any mail that comes for other people we throw out. We have a recycling bin right near the front door so any junk mail goes straight in there. Real mail goes in a box that we go through twice a month.
When I did my paper declutter I shredded two completely packed garbage bags worth of paper and recycled I-don't-even-know-how-much that didn't have sensitive information on it. Went from four file boxes and a chock-full ottoman (it was so easy to just lift the lid a tiny bit and slide each new bit of paper in there... bad habits really bite you later lol), down to just two file boxes. I was lucky in that I already owned a shredder so I didn't have to do it manually, but the poor thing kept overheating because I was working it so hard that week. It's so nice when you finish decluttering the paper, isn't it? My place felt lighter with all that loose paper stuff gone, even though I know that doesn't really make any sense.
I’m glad that you’re still making videos! Do you have a garden/yard? A little incinerator bin replaced my need for a shredder. So much faster, and of course garden waste can go in there too if you don’t have a “green waste” collection
I find that office supply shops can offer a shredding service or have a pickup at a location. My local Officeworks has a pickup service for five dollars AUD for a large bag full.
Hi ❤ I can relate, I have a lot of paper too! And watching you shredding manually was almost painful to watch. WOW! So much work. Well done! I tend to burn mine in the garden fire pit 🔥🔥🔥👏 Thank you for the boost, I just needed it for spring cleaning stuff out myself. Excited to watch what comes next.
I feel like you move things from room to room, cupboard to cupboard and never really declutter or throw out anything. I'm sure that I've seen multiple things from previous declutters reappear months later 😂😂
Recently found your channel. I love rhe minimalism journey videos. Im on the same journey! I wish I could sit down and help you with your paper haha thats fun to me.
Hi Rebacca! Why did you stop posting new vodeos? I really enjoyed them and keep rewatching previous ones. I am also into minimalism. Hope to hear from you. Watching from Russia. xx
Obvs, I'm late to the party but I am also a big journal fan! I was that kid in school who used her planner with a religious zeal. So now I bullet journal. But I invest in nice dot journals that take me over a year to fill up so that when I do fill them I can put them on my bookshelf and they are a record of my life, not something that really has to be decluttered. And they look nice!
I'm surprised you put so much effort into shredding todo lists and such! I always take confidential things to the office with me to have disposed of properly, but anything else I just throw into the garbage loose without stuffing it in a bag. I just can't see anyone really bothering to look through it, let alone get anything of value from it 😳 Luckily, most of my todo lists and notes are paperless, so I won't really have to deal with that as much (which doesn't mean my todo lists are not completely getting out of hand) ... Also what a coincidence you're uploading this now, just yesterday and today I've been doing my first declutter of the year, too!
… just now realising there is a shredder at my work I could have taken this all to 😐!!! What do you use for digital to do lists? I hope your declutter went well ☺️
@@TheAfterWorkChannel so far, I just use a plain text note-taking app for notes, todo lists and anything else. I like it because like a blank sheet of paper it doesn't restrict me in any way, but it's kind of a bottomless pit too because much like said piece of paper it requires me actively looking at it, so I could really use an alternative with some sort of a reminder ... The declutter went pretty good, I got rid of all of my remaining things from my school days and I can also say I now don't own any clothing (apart from shoes and jackets, I still need to attend to those) I don't see myself wearing anymore. There is so much other stuff I would like to get rid of, but unfortunately feelings get in the way so it's a slow process (as you know)! btw, glad I could throw some ideas back your direction with that shredder ))
Ah great thank you! Maybe I’ll give it a try rather than my paper notes. Sounds like it was a really successful declutter, and you’re right feelings do play a part in hoarding “unnecessary” stuff… baby steps though! Have a great rest of your day ☺️!
Hi! Have you asked around if any of your friends or family members has a shredder. To borrow stuff from eachother is a great way to keep minimalism and being environment friendly by not buying new seldom used stuff.
@The After Work Channel I stay near Glencoe here in Scotland. I love the outdoors and spend a lot of time wild camping, so travelling light comes naturally. I still couldn't be without my phone and tablet lol
Everytime I see people declutter and organize their important documents I get anxiety because mine take up very little space. What am I doing wrong in my life?! As for notebooks, I usually have one for journaling and other important things and another one for random short-lived notes. The second one I get rid of after I am done with it. I do check to see if there is anything important beforehand.
Helpfull tip for the planet: don't smash paper into a ball! it breaks the paper fibers and makes it more difficult to recycle. The better way is shredding or just ripping into pieces and discarted with recyclable items too, because water and other stuff that can get it moist will make it unrecyclable (is this a word?) as well.
So sorry the audio is messed up in some parts! But hope y’all enjoy the first declutter of 2023!🎉
🎉🎉 eee

I agree, to get yourself one.

Totally love your posts. You're doing a great job.
9 months later I found and watch all this serie while (trying to ) declutter my own home ! Hope you're doing well and Merci !

It definitely does make sense, it’s the weight of all the clutter being lifted off your shoulders! Thanks so much for watching ☺️

I did think about burning the paper but was scared I would start a fire 😅!!
@@TheAfterWorkChannel and it's not great for the environment.. burning things I mean🙈

Keen for the second Swedish death clean! 😊 This is awesome motivation. 👌
Finally a new video! 🤩🥰
Thanks so much for watching Marita ☺️☺️🫶

Yay a new video 😀 I was told to write "not at this address" so when it's sent back the sender knows why it's returned.
Hope you're doing well! I found your channel a few months back and really enjoyed your minimalism videos

Nice job! Now for the phone and computer clutter (emails, pictures, useless apps, saved items etc etc....) Ugh! Endless!
It really does feel endless !!
For me digital is the hardest category to declutter. There is just soooooo much stuff

Yay, you're back! I missed you!
Awwh, thank youu!!
i use good notes in my ipad. you can make a ton of different note books and it means that its all digitized.
Beautiful Clip ! 😍

Thank you so much !!! ☺️☺️
I can relate to this. I don't mind clutter as long as it doesn't belong to me :) i can now pack everything I own in 15 mins.
This is what I aspire to !! How long did it take for you to get to this point ?
@The After Work Channel About two years. I sold and gave away a lot of things, which took longer than expected.
@@evscope ahh okay, I’m almost two years into my journey and I’m no where close but it’s comforting that it wasn’t just an overnight thing!!

I am waiting for the next video 🙂 🤩
Hopefully one soon 🤞 ☺️☺️
Love declutters!
Me too 🫶
I'd definitely recommend a shredder or you should be able to take to a local recycling center any they will incinerate it for you :)
We want you back ! ❤
Thanks Pia! Hope to be back here soon ❤️
Also hope you post again soon!
A minimalist still needs a shredder. In fact, you’ll process new in items more quickly.
It would make life easier… 👀
