  • John Deere Lawn mower wont start, quick diagnosis and solution.
How to clean the carburetor and drain the bowl of a push mower.
Fix a push mower that doesn't start.
-You keep pulling but it doesn't start, even though it ran okay not too long ago.
-Or maybe the Push mower sat for a long time, now it won't run.
Repair the briggs and stratton small engine yourself.
Sorry we don't have music so loud you can't hear what's being said.
We even have CC on all our videos.

Thank you! My little mower wouldn't run and I knew the repair shop would put a new carb on it and make me wait three weeks. This video gave me the right info to clean the clogged jets and get to mowing right away! Thanks again!!

I just wanted to give you a shout out for your video helping me clean out the carburetor on my 10 year old JS36. I had symptoms where the lawnmower starts fine, but during the mow has a tendency to sputter out requiring me to push down on the handle to lift the lawnmower carriage enough for things to keep going, and it was getting worse and worse.
My process was a little more involved with an extra spring and bolt compared to the video, but not too bad. I had considerably more dark specks in the fuel that came out compared to your video. I used the drill bit like you said for the main nozzle, but for the bolt holding the careburetor cover, all of my drill bits were too large, so I used a dental brush version of toothpick which worked for me.
Only scare was when the float valve and pin came apart as I was using a plastic wirebrush to clean the grass crud on the exterior, but thankfully it was only three pieces to put back together and there was only one way that made sense. I put things back together, and with one pull the lawnmower felt like it sprang to life. Haven't given the JS36 a full mow yet, but based how it started I think I'm in great shape again, hoping to push the lawnmower another 10 years at least. Cheers for the video!

My friend. I used your video to take apart and clean my 20-year-old Deere push mower. (I had already changed the oil, and replaced the plug and air filter.) I also used carburetor cleaner on the outside moving parts. Dude, my mower hasn't run this well in years. I feel like such an adult. Thank you!

That was a great help. John Deere JA65, very old. I think the problem was the small hole through the bolt (not the ones through the side). After I got something small enough to go through all the way I put it back together. A few primes and it started on the first pull (a few days ago after maybe 50 plus pulls it wouldn't start at all). Thanks.

I’m glad the video helped. Yeah sometimes it depends which hole. Glad you got it going good again.

The gasket between the air cleaner/Primer plate and the carb is to make seal so the primer can draw fuel..it is a necessary part of the system..FYI

Good job! I use non-e gas in my small engines. Seems to help them run better.

Yes definitely in weed eaters and blowers!
Older small engines should only be non-ethanol too. Not so important with bigger mowers though.

Hello. I have a John Deere JS46 self propelled. I would like to know if it's similar in cleaning the carburetor as my lawnmower doesn't have a primer button.

Ours starts but when you engage the self propel bar, it cuts out and tries to quit. What causes that?

Check the belt that runs to the tires, it might be jammed or the pulley could be seized

What size it that drill bit?

    • @jrfix2732
      @jrfix2732  Месяц назад

It’s very tiny. Several places sell a kit for like $10 of multiple tiny ones. Like 1/16th and smaller

Hi I put a carburetor on but my mower still does not start. Why should I try next?

      Make sure you’re getting spark.
      And good compression.
Make sure the gas is all fresh.
