I've read a lot of comments about days spent walking through industrial poligons and leg brushing traffic. So twice I've started in Barcelos and highly recommend it. Little traffic and beauty from the get-go. One day hike to Casa Fernanda, a justified legend of hospitality. There's a nice municipal alberque in Barcelos with a nice meal next door.

Great vid! It brought back many memories.. both good and not-so-good. Thanks Cole. I walked from Porto to Santiago in the Fall of 2018. My only advice is to NOT walk the central route in the Fall because that's when so many farmers burn the grape vines to, I'm guessing, create ash for the crops. The constant smoke in the air, although it made for some beautiful photographs, also made it very difficult to breathe, especially where the farmers were doing their burning right along the path. Will try it in the Spring the next time. Bom caminho!
Is there a pilgrim's office in Lisbon like there is one at St Jean Pied de Port? I did the french route early this year and planning on doing the Camino Portuguese next year. I am looking as where to register and get the Pilgrim's Book for the stamps. Thanks.

In Spain I ate lots of hamon con queso (ham and cheese) Boccadilla (Baguette style bread). Also is there similar Menu Del Dia (menu of the day) type offerings for pilgrims, at the cafes and eateries along the route. Planning on the inland way. Cheers
Hey Craig, menu of the day (menu do dia) as well as pilgrims menu are available on the Portuguese way though quality variable as in Spain. I think the best option is stay in Albergues which have a good reputation for their communal meal - as is very much the case at Casa Fernanda

Hi Ryan, If you're taking the central route out of Porto then, yes, I hear that first stage isn't the prettiest. I really enjoyed walking out of the city along the river to join up with the coastal route. There's a number of places you could join back up with the central route (from the coastal) if you so desired... Bom Caminho!

How many "buffer" days do you recommend I have after the Camino Portugues (starting from Porto & central route)? I'd be flying from the US and am wondering how many days I need in total, especially on the back end of the trip.
If that was me, I'd give myself at least a couple of days in Porto at the start as it's an amazing city with so much to see. Give yourself a few days at the end just in case you get delayed. You don't want to risk having no time to get your Compostela! Sorry for late reply ;(
I used the Buen Camino app and there's a section on the Littoral from Porto. You don't need direction really... from the north side of the river, walk to the river then turn right. When you hit the sea, turn right! Hello! The roads and tracks looked OK for an off-road wheelchair. The boardwalks I saw all looked *mostly* OK but many sections were being repaired so would be impassable. I commute to work by bike in London so on the Camino I feel like walking! (Easier to stop and smell the roses). Nice video, one suggestion; sound isn't the best, and consider eliminating the music in the background. It's not necessary and interferes with your good narration.
Not to be controversial, but I liked the music 🎶 maybe just dialled down a little and a wireless microphone for sound clarity 😋 I have the same problem with my videos but with the wind!

It's a mix of tracks and roads. Where you're road walking, the roads are very quiet - minor roads

Do you suggest booking all our stays before we go or can we go on the fly and still have a place to sleep. We are going in September.
