Hi there. I’m a euphorbia collector, tropicals are my secondary love. Don’t worry about the root system. Euphorbias tend to have pretty bad roots size wise, maybe because they tend to be succulent and have caudex to store water. It will usually go dormant in winter and drop its leaves where it won’t need water, then wake back up around April when it warms up. Good luck, it’s a cool little plant
I use a coffee filter on bottom of pot before pouring in soil. Prevents losing the soil .😀
Your content and reactions and random-thought-sharings are fantastic. My path is the opposite of yours, vegetable gardener for a dozen years and just recently am I getting into house plants. I'm sure your vegetable plants are going to give you as much grief and pleasure as the rest and I can't wait to see if you begin adding veggie content.
This won't make sense, but what I most enjoy about your vids is how much you remind me of my niece. That is the highest compliment I can give a person.
I'm sure you're inspiring young women around the world.
Thank you.❤
For succulent plants that struggle to create a lot of roots I pot them in pure Akadama. It has a lot of benefits, it's acidic, store nutrients, very airy, it promote root growth and van both store a lot of water but dry very fast. That way plants with not a lot of roots will be able to drink as much as they want but are never soggy.
I love that variegated life saver cactus. I didn’t know it had a variegated form. I’ve got a regular one. Now I want the variegated one too.
Yes another video I love it thank u so much hun your videos are helping me through a really hard time in my life right now my baby just recently started having seizures 3 days ago tomorrow will be going up to one of the big hospitals to get testing done on his brain so your videos have been really helping me get through this thank you
Oh how stressful 🥺 I hope you get the answers you’re looking for and your baby is okay ❤️
i hope your baby’ll be okay! wishing y’all the best
@@hvonsus5725 thank u so much
@@wildfern thanks hun your videos really helped me out of some dark times in my life
Loved hearing your thoughts about reading 😍 I feel the same way! I'm starting Where the Crawdads Sing next!!! I've always enjoyed fiction, and I do like some non-fiction, but I'm a huge proponent of reading what makes you excited to read. If that's non-fiction, that's awesome, if it's romance, that's awesome, if it's fantasy, that's awesome!
And of course, the plants are beautiful too hahaha
I have never clicked so fast. Thank you!
ahhh thank YOU 🥰
The Espoma Catus & Succulent mix is my absolute fave!! It's my go-to
I adore that everytime there is new growth or lots of roots your excitement is so genuine. Youre my favorite youtube ever ❤️❤️
I was feeling stressed, saw your post, and clicked so 👏🏽 fast 👏🏽
Always a joy to watch your content! ☺️
I love succulents! Thank you so much for this amazing video, dear Fern! Could you consider to make a video about your balcony-garden? I have a balcony too and need some inspiration. Love you! XX
Hello from the Oregon coast where we've had over 65" of rain since January... the weather is finally feeling like summer, beautiful blue sky today. I'm from the high desert so this much rain and high humidity is hard for me to get used to. Love your videos, your calming energy is appreciated. Be well, be blessed, be happy.
Alright stop it 😉. I had no interest in string of anything nor any succulents and after watching your videos I went out and got a variegated string of hearts, a string of hearts silver glory, and today a succulent that didn’t have a name but he was fat and juicy so I took him home 😂. Really enjoy your videos, keep up the great work!
Yayyy!! I am looking forward to this video - all my succulents are root bound so I need some inspiration to repot lol 💚
Your content is my go to when I'm feeling down... I really appreciate you 💚💚💚
Thank you Robin 🥺 I’m so glad you enjoy my content and I hope you feel better soon.
As always, an awesome & chill video. Can't wait for your book update!
Nice plants Ferny. I particularly like the spiky aloe. I just got a little euphorbia Pineapple head (Bupleurifolia). If you don't have one of these, check them out. Very cool plant, especially in a Bonsai pot setup. They look like mini palm trees.
Yes another repotting video! 🥰
Best way to end my day ❤️
Btw: you mixing the soil is soooo satisfying
That's interesting about adding the charcoal to the soil mixture, I have not seen that done before.
They all look super cute! Nice to see you give some love to cacti/succulents :)
im having such a hard day and i just got so excited to see you posted a repot with me
hope you’re better now ❤️
Yay so excited to watch this! I love your repotting videos🪴
Ahh thank you!!
Fern! I loved this video, I love succulents and you have some that I've never seen and they all look so cool! I just added spikey aloe to my wishlist 😁
I love my cactus and succulent collection. I did recently watched a couple of videos on drilling holes in pots for drainage. The diamond tip circle ones were great. I did get two different sizes and drilled holes in 13 or 15 , some terracotta and some ceramic, none broke. You do have to start at a angle and then do 90 degree. Just let your drill do the work and not press too hard. Was very satisfying. Not bad for a 67 year old woman. I always try and do it myself 😜
I just got a ton of new baby succulents to test out for the summertime so this video came at a perfect time! Love love love your content
Yaaaay was waiting for this video!! 🤩
Hi Fern!
Love your reports!!! Your succulents are Awesome!🪴💚
I love the variety of succulent and cacti you have they are stunning
WOAH. Was not expecting your euphorbia ritchiei to turn into what it looks like now. For some reason it reminds me of a Pokémon or some cute little creature 😅
It’s ADORABLE 😍🙊
I’m amazed at how you handle the cactus ad not get stuck.
Your very calming to listen to and watch. Love your videos
Thank you so much for watching ☺️
Cactus, succulents, and a recent book I’ve read!!! Best video ever!! Love it!!
Yesssssssssss i want some fern in my life girl u can do the same video over and baby girl we love itttt i wish u can do content every day lol glad to see u 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
In regards to bugs in outside plants, I've been treating my plants' soil prior to putting them outside and periodically if I notice any weird bugs on them. Then I give them a full pesticide (you could do Neem) treatment a week or so before bringing them in for the fall/winter. Don't get any sprays on your cacti/succies though, it damages their protective layers.
I just picked up some aquarium gravel and top dressed a bunch of my cacti and I'm OBSESSED with how good it looks! def recommend! I'm hoping it helps with the pest issue and keeping my soil from drying out so quickly from the sun/wind.
I was highkey shocked you went this whole video without needing gloves or tongs for handling the cacti! As usual, I loved this video. Thank you 😊
Oh my gosh! the Zombie plant looks fabulous in its new pot! I repoted my cactus this morning, thanks for the inspiration!
I love jumping around watching your videos and seeing your hair growing out process
some of my cacti have been in the same pots for ...years lol. I need to get on with the repotting. Thanks for the reminder ! :)
So funny, randomly watched this video and I just today got a new huernia in the mail! Yours are so cute--never knew there was a variegated version!
Impromise = when you have to compromise but don't have the exact solution so you also have to improvise the execution. Honestly, pretty clever!
I laughed unnecessarily hard at that euphorbia jumping back out of the pot 🤣
You are spoiling us with these videos 🥰🥰🥰 and none of my plants get repotted straight either, lol. They're all a little wonky like me 😂😂😂
I am a cacti/succulent fan. This video makes me think I should check out some of mine for repotting. I use a regular drill bit for drilling drainage holes in ceramic or terra cotta. If you put a piece of masking tape on both the inside and outside of the pot bottom and drill through the tape it does well. No special bits needed.
So therapeutic watching this 🤗😊❤
So glad you liked it ☺️
⭐️reading Where The Crawdad’s Sing currently based on your recommendation!!!⭐️only on page 50 but loving it!!!⭐️beautiful cactus and succulents!!!⭐️blessings to you sweet Fern!!!⭐️
also if you (or anyone) are looking for recommendations some recent reads I loved were: The Seed Keeper, Dog Flowers: A Memoir, Love After Love, Conjure Women, It Is Wood It Is Stone 😇😇😇
Arizona, it kills me not having rain. Definitely have been homesick, wish I was back in Houston, TX. In due time I miss all the different seasons. Here is just hot high 110-112 degrees.
Yep! I had a wolf spider crawl out of one of my Dracena plants this winter… in my garden tub… yikes!
i usually just spray paint my white pots, I like to choose two different colors and just spray with no plan in mind. Always turns out pretty.
A lot of ceramic pots have a painted rim in them so honestly, the aloe couldve gone in that perfect pot! From a distance it would look like a black rimmed pot.
I feel called out a little 🤣 I just don’t want a crooked moss pole to cause the plant to fall and snap someday. 😭 (I’d cry for you!) Everything else can be imperfect! 💕
I like your soil mix! I just bought all the stuff to recreate it as a lot of my plants are ready to graduate from their nursery containers. 🥰 You’re also inspiring me to get into reading again. I used to love it until high school and college forced me to do it until I hated it.
32:30 maybe terracotta without drainage hole is fine in some cases, since it's somewhat porous.
maybe i can plant something in my romertopf
Your t shirt! Can't wait for your SPOOKY REPOTS!
Fern I use the diamond drill for all my cool pots that spikey is so beautiful 😍
Lovely Cactus 🌵

My friend, thank you for good sharing 😊
My life choices in a nutshell... 5:40-5:45 🤣🤣🤣
Love it! I love cactus and succulent content. How is your white ghost euphorbia doing?
Send the rain down south please. We are supposed to be 105 degrees tomorrow here in Texas. I water my outside in the ground plants every single day.
Not Fern bare-handing her cactus like the badass she is
I’m so happy I found your channel! 💚🧚♂️🪴
im a succulent collector and i like to cut some of the roots of when im repotting cuz older roots tend to die off anyways and start root rot for the plants
11:32 I really thought you were going to say “I’m sorry. Not everyone fits in the bad bitch genre” 🤣
HAHA that was what I was saying in my head 😂
@@wildfern bahahaha I live off TikTok audios 🤣
I need to repot mine!! Thanks for the nudge 😉💙
Haha I had been putting it off toooo 😋
@@wildfern 😜
I enjoy your work. Keep it going.✌️🐟🌿
Thank you 😊
Hello. Love love the video. Usually when I have twitching eye it means I haven't slept enough recently (meaning more than one day). Also just a suggestion I love using my metal spoon from the 99cent and or dollar tree store. I have one I use specifically for plants. It is the large one that is use for scooping out food to put it on the dinner plate. I am able to scoop soil out so much easier. I think you might find it helpful.
Just watching your video, not realised my husband was listening and he goes like: Why is she talking Harry Potter!? 🤣🤣 All the plant names sound like spells to him! 🤣🤣🤣💚
LOL that's amazing!
Really enjoyed watching you repot these guys. I think I do need to get some cacti! A suggestion for the ‘dust’ thing with the pumice etc. I used to grow bonsai many years ago and mixed my own soil (actually very similar to Pon). When I got a new bag of any of the components I would take the time to sieve it (outside of course), to remove the dust. Can be quite relaxing as long as you are not breathing it in. Might seem a pain, but it did mean when I wanted to use it, I didn’t have to worry about the dust as much. Looking at the amount of dust in perlite I think I’m going to invest in a fine sieve and do the same again. Thanks for sharing.
I feel spoiled with content! thank you for this!!!
BUSY PLANT LADY!!! I Just Potted Up Five Succulents Recently Because They Came Bareroot. I Planned On Placing Them Outside By My Front Door... But Since I Potted Four Of Them In A Rectangular Container... The Spot Wasn't Going To Work. I Placed The Container Inside Near A Window...AND They're L👀KING G💚💚D!!! I STILL Had To Go L👀KING For A Bear Claw After I Saw How AD💚RABLE Yours Was!!!
I think this hair length and style suits you well 😇 quality content as usual!
Where the crawdads sing is one of my fav books ever!!
It's so good 🥺
Impromising is my favourite thing to do :D
I am so unsure on charcoal! It absorbs the bad stuff but it can't differentiate so I'm always worried I'm going to suck all the good nutrients out of the soil.. It also alters PH levels which isn't a good thing either. But then so many people recommend it? So idek.
Also weather wise - here in New Zealand the entire country is raining today. I shared a weather map on my socials today and literally every single place in the country today has a rain sign on it lol good cold day to snuggle up and watch plant tube ;)
Lovely video once again! Maybe you could try spray painting the white pot (covering the plant of course).
I have euphorbias over a foot tall and they have root balls no larger than that little pot yours was in. They hold a lot of water in the plant itself, so don't worry!
When your dog barked I literally saw your soul leave your body and come back. Your fight or flight kicked in for sure. I love your videos by the way
I enjoyed your plant repotting. When I have repotted in the past and the plant sticks I use a long pencil to help push the plant out
very gently
from the bottom in the drain hole. The plant that you have 2 of them together I noticed a bud on the back side.
Is that a fuzzy type cactus? It brings the star shaped blooms?
I have one and they grow good size. They like to trail down the sides of the pot or hanging basket. I think they bloom on new growth. You might want to separate them.
My is about 15 inches across. Well I'll keep watching. I enjoy. Your adventures. Lynda
YOUR FACE WHEN OLIVE BARKED 😭
I love your euphorbia ritchiei v., I tried to find one but no luck here in Ontario ATM but I'll keep looking 💚
I think for October you should paint that little terracotta pot black or spooky to go with your "zombie" plant. Your Tee just gave me that idea 🤣🎃❤️
I love cactus and succulents myself too but I have to keep my numbers where I have goo light for them in the winter.
Yeah, that ferox/marlothii is a beast and is more like a tree aloe. Don't turn your back to it for too long.
Summer where I am has been over 100° almost every day. I’m ready for fall 🥵
I'm leaving you a comment down below... And btw, I watched twice all the way through! Just enjoy it all, I'm not even a cactus person!
I’ve also been reading quite a lot this year! Also loved the Song of Achilles and the Crawdads. Right now i’m really enjoying Crossroads by Jonathan Franzen, maybe you like that one too!
I also have an euphorbia richii Variegata, it did nothing for months and months then finally put out some new leaves and started growing this summer. Your roots might have rotted idk
There’s a really amazing series of 4 books to check out by Elena Ferrante, start with My Brilliant Friend, the first book. Her writing is so captivating.
Also, I miss your cactus garden!
40 minutes. you spoil us. 🥰
Thank you for another chill and talkative repot Fern ☺️ your variegated opuntia is to die for and for sure on my wish list, I hope it doesn’t have any spider mites!
p.s. Olive’s bark scared the hell outta me 😂 also you twitchy eye can be lack of sleep or stress, I tend to get it quite frequently and it usually boils down to either one of those!
Highly recommend watching a movie then reading the book. It's way easier to enjoy them as separate entities and not be disappointed that the movie didn't do it right. I did that with Harry Potter and now it's my preferred way.
Thanks for the vibes! I gotta ask - what is the song at the very end of your video? Can’t figure out what it is for the life of me and I NEED IT on my rotation 👀
I'm a cacti & succulent grower here in Los Angeles and that Miracle Grow mix terrifies me even in our heat, LOL. The first cacti you repotted is a Myrtillocactus geometrizans! :)
I wish I had your weatherrrr 🥺🌞 and thank you!
@@wildfern I honestly cannot handle the heat, but I loooove being able to grow so many desert dwellers! We have an amazing nursery called Desert Creations right down the street, I am absolutely itching to go there as soon as I kick this covid from my system. 😩🌵
Since you don’t post any new videos on this channel I’m forced to rewatch your old ones 😂
And you look amazing hun
I love my prickly pear cactus it really took off since being outside….I definitely have an attachment to it.
I had to throw my discount tradescantia yesterday actually….I tried for months to treat the mites and mealy bugs. I just had to give up. I didn’t want anything else to get infected again. Sadddd
Taking the time, while watching this video, to spray all my plants with neem oil lol
Omg if your on the island paramount orchids is in Parksville you are lucky.
So glad we get a nice long video🥹
Just a heads up, careful touching the blue cactus too much! That blue can rub off and it doesn’t come back
I read Where the Crawdads Sing a couple years ago and loved it so much! If you liked that one I feel like you would also like Sing, Unburied, Sing!
I love your videos no I adore them 💕💕 I have over 50 plants
Grear vid! what part of the island? i grew up on Saltspring Is.
