We used to do this on our sr20 with a basic chip map with a plug in the very end of the tip. Just left the coil firing constantly. Makes big yellow flames all the time, even driving.
When dudes did this in the '50s they'd just switch from the front coil for the engine to the rear coil for the flame thrower. They were able to triggar the rear coil with the throttle open which put fresh air in the exhaust allong with the fuel. You probably have to do something similar to make it better.
You have to make a intake vent in the exhaust by cutting a slit before the plug and bending the metal up so it can suck in oxygen by creating a vacuum in the exhaust
You should add a small “intake” to the exhaust before the spark plug thats pointed the opposite direction of the exhaust to pull in oxygen, then with a bigger spark it might work, it would pull in even more air if the car was moving too

If you introduce some air into the exhaust just before the spark plug it should give a good result, maybe weld a small pipe angled into it pointed at the plug tip ;).

1 switch for the motor ignition coil "intrupt" (your fuel dump and control rpm/gotta hold the gas pedal to the floor) 2 switch is for the coil. We just flick it on the whole time. BIG BIG FLAMES. NO KIDDING. DONT MESS WITH THE TUNE. SEEMS MORE WORK.

for that to work like ye want to , you got the build a different tailpipe that has 2 different diameters, the inner is the exhaust and the outer is a pipe over it with a star to hold it in position and has the spark in it so air flows through the bigger diameter pipe and mixes with the inner (that is shorter) and ignites it there. (the Duramax typical has a tip that looks like that to reduce smoke)
Hot rod guys have been doing that for years and years. Usually two to three spark plugs, straight pipes, and 93 octane pump gas. It will shoot 10’ flames out the back for sure.

Jimmy, Spark plug thread is same as o2 sensor. use an o2 bung and run a HUGE spark gap and fire it as quick as the coil can can do it. You nee a huge continuous spark. Think electric arc lighter, not spark plug, and it needs to be firing before the fuel gets to the end. Leave the plug before the muffler. You know how some diesel exhausts have those little vents in them? You need one of those before the muffler to let some air in with the exhaust. The way they're shaped will suck air in but not allow exhaust out. its like a venturi. Look at how a blowtorch tip is made, same idea.
Once Spoon joined the team I knew Ant was going to get tossed to the chopping block. Then once I noticed Ant's car being worked on in DJ's shop I knew he was fired from the Oakes garage. Wish he would have progressed faster and secured his job.
This is like a modern version of the kits We all saw years ago, always wanted to buy one but never did 🤣 I thought some people used to put a petrol feed to the exhaust but I can't remember seen it in old car magazine, I must go see how they get different colours I wounder are they burning different chemicals like in science class back in the day 🤣
@JimmyOakes about the flame thrower, why not try and use a MIG welding tip with a bottle, run it to the tip of the exhaust with relay or just behind the spark plug sure
Hey jimmy it would work better if the spark gap was really wide to the point where the spark isn’t blown out but not too small and u shoul try 2 in case the first one doesn’t work! Hope this helps!

Back in 2001 we actually wired in a toggle to the coil to cut spark...... also when you hit the switch to cut the ignition... you wire the coil to that . BAM. Hold the pedal to the floor and you control rpm and flame from the switch. Aslo.... that muffler will catch on fire... don't ask me 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣🤘🤘🤘
Should've tried it on real world decel, would carry fuel in the exhaust better, less likely to get the big flame every time than using the torch but should still happen more than occasionally

Using a Direct Ignition/Diesel Glow plug rather than a spark plug might work better for what youre trying to achive with blowing flames.
Try using a BBQ grill igniter in the tip!!!

And maybe try a pilot light for an oil furnace, may need a small catch can full of diesel in the trunk though...and their electrically controlled
you need a "spark plug defouler" aka the bung people use to pull their o2 sensor out of the exhaust flow to avoid CEL when catless

You need to use a grill igniter. They have a much bigger spark.

Most of the smart coils are actually being charged when going low (that's called dwell time usually) and fired when high
The FD is going to need a exhaust tip 2-3 inches past the bumper so it doesn’t catch the bumper on fire.
