I still think the Nissonda numbers are impressive regardless if there's there's variance in peak readout between the different dynos. Literally 400hp is awesome considering all the hell the black z was giving you. Side note, you guys should care less about what negative commenters say. We aren't there building cars, we're watching lol. It's a whole different story on your side of the camera
I 2ed that regardless if the dyno is 10-15% forgiving. The ability to repeat the same # and see gain after change is what matters.. too many people get hung up on the HP # when it literally is just a #. As always great work.. love that car lol
Nailed it with the dyno discussion-the real piece to consider is the delta. Whether the dyno reads high or low is irrelevant when trying to dial in a car. Being able to gauge improvement/gains from base numbers to tuned numbers is the key, and of course the dynos consistency is important. The one thing this video confirmed-FedEx sucks donk. Always have.
All Jimmy needs to do is recalibrate the load cell on his dyno. The difference between a braked dyno and unbaked is the braked dyno actually measures the torque using a sensor. Dynos like a dyno jet calculate the torque by seeing how fast it can spin a specific weighted roller. In theory once calibrated braked dyno should be more accurate.
Sooooo happy to hear someone talking about torque numbers over horsepower!! So tired of hearing about horsepower, big numbers are cool but the torque is what moves the car and puts you back in the seat. Torque is what everyone wants more of and they just don’t realize it
Whats important is that youre able to do good tunes on it reliably. You can always play with the calibration later if you want a closer match to a dynojet
Im guessing valve seals i was about to do them in my ka but it ended up being the turbo itself. It could be the turbo itself or not enough restrictor. I was smoking bad on deceleration not so much full throttle.
Even with the variances between dynos, that torque is truly impressive. Just remember Jimmy people are always going to talk no matter if you're up or down on the times. Keep your head up and show the world you won't be beaten by words. Love all your content and can't wait for more. Cheers!
I've got a 93 civic that made 320whp on pump gas on a 'heart breaker' Dyno (Xenocron in NY). I'm in CT, was thinking about having Jaimie Marsh check the tune and maybe add full throttle shift, and rolling anti-lag. Would be interesting to see what it makes as a baseline on your Dyno.
@@joshuabower61 it's about to be a year since I finished it, and don't think I've seen anyone from any of the forums with similar builds have any problems. The transmissions are known to go at or above 450whp. I've got a helical LSD. I do baby it on shifts though and haven't launched it, still have to set negative caster on the traction bars. I haven't tried the anti-lag either since it's got a 3" hi flow cat and full exhaust.
@@NonovUrbizniz yeah just like any Honda tranny it’ll hold a fair bit of power but shifting it hard with that power is what breaks them. Loving the Nissonda content! That thing's gunna be a weapon with a built motor 😱 totally agree, the repeatability is what matters with a dyno. Tuning is about the drivability of a car not the numbers. But people always talk about the numbers because that's the thing they can compare
Would love to see an AE86 on the channel. Love all the vids and your crew and friends really seem like some cool people. Can’t wait to see the Supra build
Dyno is in the end a tool for tuning the engine, keep it happy, the numbers are cool but more of a by product of the tune, and to compare gains or losses.
This is giving me so much inspiration towards my ka-t luckily mine will have new rings and bearings and well new everything besides the block and head pistons and rods I just want 250-300 for now while I build a forged block and take my time 🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥 as always thank you jimmy for the vibes us car guys need sometimes
People get all into the numbers of dynos when really you're just using it as another tool to tune a vehicle. And then if you get a set number and you make some changes and you want to see if it approved , you can.. so as long as you're Dyno is consistent within your own numbers that's really all that matters.
numbers between dynos are always gonna be different due to the way they work. the reason for a dyno is to be able to properly tune a car by finding where the torque is and being able to make changes almost on the fly. it also helps that you don't need to run the car on the streets trying to make logs for tuning.
It seems like the dyno ramp speed is at like 700rpm per sec. A tad high, there is not as much load at high ramp speed. It could make the difference. Also HP is work over time. Torque × RPM / 5252 for lbs/ft And it's 7127 for NM.
Cool that you did this comparison! I commented about doing this on the supra video because it's cool to see the difference between dyno's sometimes. Also I wonder if there are ways that someone could tune a Dyno? But non the less keep up the amazing content Jimmy and the Oaks crew!!
Doesn't really matter if it's alittle off or not. The Dyno is just a tool to get the tune dialed in. The hp and TQ numbers help with the tuning processt
We knew from the Day you set up your dyno it wasn't calibrated or accurate with other dynos , but still helped you tune 👌🤙💯 its one more rolling Road than I have 😋🤣👌💯
Highkey all that blow by is probably what’s saving the engine. Cylinder pressure is able to escape past the pistons slightly vs a super tight tolerance na mint running ka
Torque isn't really what the dyno measures, it's power. It works torque back based on the engine RPM. Average power across the useable rev range is what's important to the driving experience since power determines directly how much you can accelerate at a given wheel speed.
Jimmy, I know everyone in the industry uses the Dyno Jet as a standard but it shouldn’t be. It’s the least accurate of dynos. When the people at Dyno Jet were working on their first dyno they couldn’t come up with a good calibration. They ended up slapping a Yamaha VMax on the Dyno and matched the Dyno output to the motorcycle instead of the other way around. Because of this the Dyno Jet will give out different inaccurate torque readings depending on which engine is being dynod.
Check turbo seals and compression may just be burning oil threw the turbo also check drain into oil pan oil could be backing up causing turbo to burn it
testament to E85 goodness. surprised that thing still has pistons and ring lands. wonder what the C5 would make on Jimmy's dyno in comparison to turbo mike's...
Thanks for doing this. It took me a long time to come out and say anything about the numbers but it’s nice to see some comparable data. As you say the actual number is really meaningless. It’s a tool to fine tune the setup and yours will do that perfectly fine.
The ports on the manifold are significantly smaller than the ports on the engine. Cylinder #4 isnt even covered by the manifold....which is why you see a puff of smoke come out of the engine bay on the dyno after a pull. Put a better manifold on it and I bet you see solid gains. Hopefully the built engine gets a good manifold
I feel like everytime I see Jimmy drive and hoon his personal theme song starts playing, which I’m fully convinced is Stil D.R.E and no one can change my mind

I had a KA that smoked like that and I had put in some new valve stem seals and smoke no more!
