This is the best yoga for trauma so far 😭 From start to finish it just works to make me feel grounded and calm and free. I just wish the pace is much slower but other than that it’s all perfect and therapeutic. Really resonated with the passages and you are very gentle and caring throughout. I'm not sure I would call this yoga for beginners, but I do know one thing. I am definitely more grounded. It's the most grounded I have felt for a while. I read another commenter wishing you would go slower. I reflected this sentiment in the workout. I then realized the speed helped with grounding. Sometimes I found I had to watch you to work out what to do next, when I wanted to be flowing in the pose. Anyhoo, Thank you. I will do this again, & ty for introducing me to Rolf Gates.

I stopped the video at some point when my whole body started trembling gently and contracting-releasing by itself, which was a spontaneous process of release, initiated by your yoga course.

The first read passage really hit something, I began tearing up and feeling emotions I couldn’t name. Idk why but it brought up emotions and I didn’t think I was going to tear up during this practice because I’ve been so emotionally numb lately. But I feel much better and so grounded!! I love this practice and this instructor. I also really love the passage readings throughout the practice. Please do more like this 🧡Thank you for all that you do 🙏🏽

Thank you for releasing this content into the world. Not sure if this is useful feedback but I found the flow of the practice slightly accelerated. Especially between transitions that didn't flow easily from one to the next. Following the sequence at 0.75 or 0.5 speed deepened my ability to connect within myself.
I just did this session for the first time. I have childhood PTSD and sexual abuse in my body and I'm actively working to heal it. While doing your yoga I feel a lot of tightness in my body and yet I also feel a Divine Joy inside. One of the manifestations of my PTSD is I get tendonitis pulled muscles or bulging discs very easily making it hard for me to exercise regularly. I have a knowledge that it's connected but I don't understand it yet. Thank you for helping me to loosen this up.

People should be aware that trauma informed is not the same as trauma sensitive. Be aware. That said, the loving warmth from this woman is good for a hurt spirit.
I am glad to find your videos. I appreciate how soothing your voice is and the focus on invitations. I really liked the side stretch with the arm behind me. However, this video was really fast for me. I am playing it at .5 speed and even that is a bit fast, so I still pause. But .25 distorts the audio too much. With the invitations, when you say things like do what feels good, if you want to, I invite you, etc. I need at least 10-60 seconds to feel into if/what I want to do. Otherwise I either just follow along mindlessly which ends up being triggering, or I fall super behind, which can also push my buttons. I hope that if you make more videos you consider going slower. I really liked the pace in the first ten minutes or so of the video.
Just watched Releasing Psoas video. I have lots of trauma, root nerve damage causing bulging discs, arthritis. I'm tearing with joy & gratitude for being & being relieved in healing. From the spiritual to physical, all is better.
I really enjoyed this at the start but I found myself getting uncentered as the transitions between each pose was a little too quick for me. I really hope you will consider doing another updated one which is much more slower paced
I absolutely love the mediation at the beginning and the end, I haven’t heard that before. I found myself talking out loud along with you so I could learn it as a mantra. I feel so much calmer now after this sequence. Thankyou

"Do what feels right for your body" - this must be heresy, I thought. I realized after noticing my reaction that after my trauma, maybe I resent my body for somehow making me a target. Besides, my brain is the troublemaker. Every act of self care revolves around calming my brain. Even diet and exercise have been chosen to foster mental health. The brain has been the squeaky wheel, and this whole time my body has gone unnoticed and unappreciated, after everything it's done for me, everything it's been through and the trauma it carries. The session was great, but I think that comment might have helped me most. It's time to reconnect to an old friend.
I also have a comment about sitting up versus lying down. I would like you to tell me the differences between that. I have such a tight knot in my solar plexus chest throat and jaw that is very very hard for me to sit up straight. It's easier to lie down. Thank you Polly

The only thing was it was a little fast-paced for me, and while doing the poses, I don't want to get up and pause the video every few seconds, so I was often rushed through poses. I usually hunch my shoulders out of habit, but this session helped me released so much tension in a gentle, almost magical way. Thank you! How can I find out more about other trauma-sensitive yoga videos on the internet? I live abroad so I can't attend classes in person.
Love the sequence and your guidance! I wish the poses were held a little longer and there was more time for transitions. Not being familiar with the sequence I felt a little rushed at certain transitions. But the sequence was really relaxing, thank you!

Hey Nityda. Thanks a lot for the video's. I recently started to look for trauma sensitive yoga and stumbed upon your account. I've had a lot of psychotherapy and it helped but the fatigue and fight-modus remain. I hope this style of yoga is going to help me :-) I was wondering, could you also maybe do a yoga that might help with flashbacks, or one for the crown chakra to be able to find direction in the mids of trouble in the head/making a connection with the bigger whole? Shenkie, thats a beautiful question. Yes! I will start by saying that for anyone having flashbacks I do recommend support with a 1:1 therapist but along with that, we have the containment practice on this channel that helps with distress tolerance. I will definitely look into making an asana sequence though. It may be a little bit but its on my radar.
I wanted so badly to enjoy this. The sequence was great. The variations effective and relaxing. … but you moved so fast! I’m a teacher as well so I’m speaking from the heart I promise. . To really settle into a relaxing deepened breath was impossible at this pace. You would get us into a pose that felt amazing and I couldn’t even settle in as you were immediately moving on to the next pose. I repeatedly stopped the video to try to breath and relax into a needed posture but that’s not peaceful in and of itself. Please consider slowing the breath to a calmer deeper pace and allowing us to enjoy the practice verses constant shifting.
I feel a little duped on the trauma consciousness of the yoga, especially coming from two other videos I just watched, that were a lot more gentle and a lot less fast-paced. I'm sure this works for a lot of people but the trauma sensitivity was not enough for me, unfortunately and I found myself really panicking/disconnecting from it around the 12 minute mark.

Thanks for this lovely video! I've been trying to add trauma sensitive gentle yoga to my daily routine so I can start the day with the right mindset and boost the mindfulness and moderation I'm trying to learn throughout the day. This seems like a good video for that.

I usually hunch my shoulders out of habit, but this session helped me released so much tension in a gentle, almost magical way. Thank you! How can I find out more about other trauma-sensitive yoga videos on the internet? I live abroad so I can't attend classes in person.
Love the sequence and your guidance! I wish the poses were held a little longer and there was more time for transitions. Not being familiar with the sequence I felt a little rushed at certain transitions. But the sequence was really relaxing, thank you!
Thanks Marlee. Yes, I agree. This was one of the first voice-over sequences I did so going into edit I experienced the same thing. It's much different that teaching in person. I hope you continue to visit the sequence, get to know it and benefit from it. Namaste
Hey Nityda. Thanks a lot for the video's. I recently started to look for trauma sensitive yoga and stumbed upon your account. I've had a lot of psychotherapy and it helped but the fatigue and fight-modus remain. I hope this style of yoga is going to help me :-) I was wondering, could you also maybe do a yoga that might help with flashbacks, or one for the crown chakra to be able to find direction in the mids of trouble in the head/making a connection with the bigger whole? Thank you
Shenkie, thats a beautiful question. Yes! I will start by saying that for anyone having flashbacks I do recommend support with a 1:1 therapist but along with that, we have the containment practice on this channel that helps with distress tolerance. I will definitely look into making an asana sequence though. It may be a little bit but its on my radar.
I wanted so badly to enjoy this. The sequence was great. The variations effective and relaxing. … but you moved so fast! I’m a teacher as well so I’m speaking from the heart I promise. . To really settle into a relaxing deepened breath was impossible at this pace. You would get us into a pose that felt amazing and I couldn’t even settle in as you were immediately moving on to the next pose. I repeatedly stopped the video to try to breath and relax into a needed posture but that’s not peaceful in and of itself. Please consider slowing the breath to a calmer deeper pace and allowing us to enjoy the practice verses constant shifting.
Do you offer teacher training classes on ptsd for yoga?
I feel a little duped on the trauma consciousness of the yoga, especially coming from two other videos I just watched, that were a lot more gentle and a lot less fast-paced. I'm sure this works for a lot of people but the trauma sensitivity was not enough for me, unfortunately and I found myself really panicking/disconnecting from it around the 12 minute mark.

Hi There. Sorry for the delay. Any seat will do. Seated on the ground cross-legged. Seated in a chair. or even standing when sitting is contraindicated. Hope this helps!
