Back in December 2010, my mom and I took in a stray cat,fed her, gave her fresh water, she gave birth to a litter of kittens in someone else's home. Sadly the kittens Rhode on Noah's ark all the way to Heaven. Two months later I took her to the vet to have her vaccinated and spayed, now she is a happy healthy indoor cat.
Did you know that you can adopt small pets too? Check out local shelters for rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and more. Plus, some of the big chain pet stores will have an adoption section for small pets that have been returned, often because they were bought for a child who then lost interest (sadly, it's still a very common story). I have two beautiful dwarf hamsters that came from a shelter, and it's so rewarding to give animals a loving home that really need it. Best decision ever!

The ability of a dog to be trained depends on the patience of the trainer. All dogs can be trained but patience and deep understanding is a must. Dog experts have proved this, they managed to train a stray just took a while. Your dog doesn't have to be a mutt to be a service dog.
@@thetaipanking9242 yeah i agree with that! While i do agree and im trying not to be rude, there are some dogs that are better suited for the role of a service dog that others. But that doesnt mean that not all cant bee a service dog!
When I got my first dog at 5-7 years old I went in wanting a girl dog with long, silky, beautiful hair that I could put bows in. I went to a shelter and immediately saw this puppy shaking and crying. I fell in love with him, couldn't leave his side, it felt as if I had a strong connection with him already. I came out with a scraggly short-haired boy mutt. If you want to get a dog, just go to the shelter and see who charms you the most! I guarantee you'll find a dog that's just as nice as a purebred. ☺
Pedigrees are prone to many health problems,&you should want your hairy person for their personality, not for their packaging.Remember that they are sentient beings, not decorations or toys.
@@helenbenjafield7351this is a myth. it depends on how well bred the dog is. even when purchasing from a breeder, you should pick a dog that fits your lifestyle
Everyone says adopt dont shop, but ive looked at shelters near me and they almost exclusively have pitbulls 😭😂 I might find a reputable breeder around to make sure we're getting a family friendly dog, we'll see! ❤️
@j8246 you are so ill informed... you need to realize that pits bills needs socialization and care and they can be very manageable, even great family pets. And there are plenty of puppies in shelters if that's more suited for your liking. People's ignorance and selfishness is why our animals endure so much.
❤ I have one pomeranian. Last year, I rescued 4 Street dogs. But unfortunately, authorities caught 2 of them. So I still keep 2 dogs with me along with my pom.. but they won't sit inside the house for too long.. its their nature to wander outside ! then suddenly last year December one of the dog gave birth to another 2 puppies. Now the puppies are 3 months old. And my house got 5 dogs. So I'm looking for someone to adopt those puppies but no one wants coz its normal dog !! I wish I'm rich enough to adopt all the stray dogs/cats and build a shelter for them. It's my dream to open a shelter for strays, wish me luck.❤ #adoptdontshop
There are many reasons someone may buy a pet vs. adopt. Allergies, young children in the home, etc.. I personally advocate adoption, but i would never pretend that I know best what and why others should or shouldn't do. Using your platform to shame others, you dont even know is shameful in its own right. Stop being a karen.
I don't get this campaign i don't think you're looking into full view...see these big pet stores aren't just gonna disappear they will still exist coz you need to accept that people do need a specific type of breed for their purpose, be it for hunting, military, sniffing dogs used by cops etc and it is really hard to find your specific need of dog in adoption centres..by following this "adopt don't shop" you may instead only make more dogs in pet shop grow without a family and in cage 365days waiting for some family to get them..instead of saying 'dont shop' it think it's better to raise awareness to bring some better policies and guidelines on these breeders to not overpopulate and have full proper care and so on.. I have adopted a dog too..but i think that if you want specialised breed for a purpose, buying it from a shop isn't bad too and can also be considered as 'saving a life' from a jail cage where the shop owner is probably cruel "Shop if you want, but try to adopt if you can" should be a proper slogan imo
They don’t mean it like that they mean if you have to do that do your checks make sure the dog is healthy don’t apply online check your adoption agencies first and then then if they don’t have a specific dog breed you want then go down that route but look for registered breeders
I adopted 4 cats from our local shelter between 2020 and 2023. They're all amazing.
This is SUCH an important message. Thank you for reminding people the importance and the associated huge benefits of rescuing a beautiful animal ❤
