    My personal experience with the NXR2 was bad. It was the noisiest helmet I have ever used, so much so that I ended up selling it on. I understand the factors of naked / screen, head shape and the use of earplugs etc but after watching so many video's claiming noise reduction in comparison to others I was shocked just how bad it was compared to my old HJC. Lost a chunk of money finding out it was awful.

      Hey Colin,
      A lot of new helmets are loud these days.
      I started using motosafe Alpine hearing protection about 13 years ago and they work great.
      I’ve used those foam ear plugs for years also but the motosafe are reusable and soft.
      I went from the nxr 1 to a Arai Corsair V and was shocked how loud the Arai was even with ear plugs.
      Ive owned a lot of different helmets over the years and it’s sort of a catch 22 with helmets it’s sacrifice ventilation over noise or less noise no vents..
      Once you start using ear plugs you won’t go back👍
      Ride safe..

      Did you find the visor had a habit of closing with the wind hitting it? Unless it's open more than an inch the first couple of opening positions have no detent strength so constantly gets blown shut by the wind.

  • @jowen85
    @jowen85 Год назад +1

    Mine whistles on the left side of the helmet particularly, but not exclusively, when the visor isn't latched down. It's a nightmare in situations where you need it unlatched due to misting up or heat when stopped at lights but then travelling on to the next traffic control. I find myself constantly trying to latch/unlatch and the catch is t that easy to do with gloves on. I was wondering if the NXR was better since the visor mech is different. It also picks up a fair amount of wind noise at speed. It's been back to shoei, who just say it isn't a manuf fault and basically, that's it from them. Pros would be the weight

    Please do comparison with arai Quantic.

    • @iNFiN3
      @iNFiN3 2 года назад +6

      I have both helmets at home and I can personaly say that the Quantic feels much more premium and the Arai visor system is buttery smooth compared to Shoei. Shoei is a bit lighter and a smitch quieter but not even close to the Arai ventilation, the Shoei looks a bit more sportier and the Arai is more of a all around looking helmet, something you can use as well on a retro and a sport bike, and when it comes to safety, even tho they have the same rating, I belive that the Arai is head and shoulders above it. Both are top notch brands, the best there are, but 10/10 times I would pay the premium and get an Arai, thats my 2 cents.

      @@iNFiN3 so, what do you suggest I should buy? shoei nxr 2 mural, or arai profile jungle? I can't decide. I tried both of them. Arai feels an little bit heavier I don't feel so comfortable, though I know they are the best. Shoei as sool as I wore it I felt like THIS IS IT! so comfortable, a little bit lighter, I didn't feel like taking this off. Don't know what to do. My boyfriend is arai fanatic, he changes helmets every 3 years, only arai. But me.... I don't know if I am arai person... my previous one AGV but...... not that safe..... thanks

      @@effieligouri7969 They’re built for different head shapes, you’ll rarely find both Arai and Shoei helmets fit comfortably. You have to have an oval head for Arai’s. Don’t feel you have to get an Arai because they’re “the best”, they actually have done quite poorly in the past in independent testing, especially side impacts. Safest helmet is one you feel comfortable with!

    Will stick with my NXR v1. I hate the way the manufacturers are forcing a specific brand/model of communicator. My Packtalk Slim fits perfectly on my NXR v1

    • @FortaMoto
      @FortaMoto  2 года назад +2

      The NXR is a great helmet, so I can understand why you'd like to keep hold of that one for a while. The NXR2 doesn't have a specific communication system, but it is prepared for a universal system. Sorry if the video confused you, the helmet depicted with a comm unit in the video is a Neotec II with SRL system.

      Use custom Earmolds with speakers wired in. You can use any helmet then.

    I don't like mine. It's not quieter nor more comfortable nor lighter than my old cheap Airoch (at $120). The pinlock fogs after several minutes and is not certified for riding after dusk.

    In some tests the NXR2 was shown to be one of the most quiet helmets tested. At 120 km/h the sound pressure was 98 dB at the ear positions. 108 dB was measured in the worst helmet. It's scary. I'm still using my AGV helmet from 1978. It's must simpler and quieter than the helmets you can buy today. I don't have to wear earplugs.

      @@joaosoares3719 … Well, the OG NXR will take X-Spirit visors, and vice-versa … whereas, the NXR 2 has a whole new visor shape, which means buying more visors … 😏. Cha-ching, Shoei 💰 I think the OG NXR looks better, probably looks more like the X-Spirit if anything since it has the same visor shape/aperture (and the NXR 2 shell looks much the same as the OG, except for the much bulkier vent controls). I suspect the NXR would pass 22.06 as well, if someone paid to test it; but Shoei saw an opportunity to redesign the visor aperture shape, and sell a bunch more visors (they were losing sales by having the OG NXR and S-Spirit share visors; every other helmet of theirs already had its own, proprietary visor shape … 😏)
