As an ex REME mechanic i'm really enjoying your videos, really excellent. However, the state of your workshop and those shorts are giving me nightmares🤣 Keep up the good work.

Very enjoyable video, you are totally right I don’t want to watch you for a day cleaning bits up. Please keep explaining how things work, as it’s interesting how they work and how to put parts back together again. 👍👍👍

Nice clutch refurbishment job. Well explained and illustrated. Copper grease is ideal as it is both anti-seize and also heat resistant. I have used it sparingly on brake assemblies and exhaust manifolds too.

Well done guys with the clutch re-build. Looks complicated so many things to remember. If you get it wrong it will destroy the clutch. The joys of owning a Tank . 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Well in all fairness,The Chieftain did do an April 1 video, watching paint dry. Something to think of in spring ?
Good content here guys, appreciate it.
Borg and Beck clutch. Thanks for mentioning the design. Haven't fiddled with a truck version in ages. Brings back mostly good memories.
You have lots more parts to deal with, however.

A fascinating insight into something as "Simple" (in cars) as a clutch!
Entertaining and educational..... whilst also showing the difficulties you face to do this work. :)
    Great video.

Thanks, very informative and more detailed than the tech videos of that Dorset tank museum.

For some strange reason, being an ex ECE I recall the clutch springs total 700lbs push load. I remember it was a heavy shove taking it out of the shed.

Maybe someone else has mentioned it but a dab of white correction fluid (Tippex) would help you to see your dot marks.

That was a cool video. I really liked seeing all the cleaned an painted pieces laid out on the cloth. I look at it that way and I'm thinking, "well that doesn't look like all that much" and then as you go through the assembly and shimming and I'm all "JFC!" All that one turn at a time loosening and tightening would try me I suspect. How many days did this take? Sounds like a minimum of 4. Would I watch a day long video of Tinkering With Tanks? Yes. Would it get me in trouble with work? Yes.

Those old tanks must get better care and attention from you blokes than they did when they were in service.

For cleaning needle rollers, I use a mesh tea strainer and a stiff brush. Dip them in the cleaner and give them a good stir with the brush, then you can lift them all out to dry and check. Repeat as necessary.
I'm assuming you knew the plates had been replaced with non-asbestos ones, from your, er, relaxed behaviour with them.

An interesting video. Nice to see how much goes into rebuilding one of these clutches. Just watched Mr Hewes trying to extract the circlip you’d already done. Did you have the correct tool for the job.? Looking forward to the Antar engine repair/rebuild. 😎🇬🇧

I'm trying to imagine the weight of a clutch that size if, like one of my motorcycle multi plate clutches, it had 10 friction plates!

Ten fiction plates the size of the Centurion one would equate to a tank of 250 tonnes! Lol
