I just bought one. Just now found your video and appreciate your insights
Great video
Impressive!
Wonder how well this will work for me. I’m in SE Wyoming with very hard ground with lots of rocks. Just worried about getting my ass kicked by this thing since there’s nothing stopping it from ripping out of your hands if it hits something hard. More than likely I’m just going to buy it and give er a try. Way cheaper than renting one by me and be better than doing by hand.
I just got done with a ridiculously hard job using one of these and have had a few days to ponder on how I would do it better if I was in charge. This tool is only a 1 man tool for very light applications, for serious work it's a two person tool. As a single person you end up distributing your weight over the machine and basically just huffing in fumes, and when you snag a root you feel like only your left hand has a real shot at stopping the machine jerk. With the handles designed to accommodate two people you end up distributing your weight over the handle not the center of the machine and get less fumes, when you snag a root you both have your left hands as mains and suddenly your right hand is useful because you didn't lose control of the machine, it also helps with downward pressure, upward pulling, and carrying to next hole. I haven't tried this yet but after digging too many fence holes in very hard clay using 1 person on the machine at a time my mind is convinced this is a two person machine.
Brace yourself.
How in the world do you get a new one to start?
I placed the correct mixture in, put it in start, pumped a few times, pulled and nothing.
I even took the spark plug out, put it in run, pulled a few times and nothing.
Oh I also press the trigger and press the lock before pulling.
Wtf!!!
Could be an adjustment needed to ignition coil. I ran into that issue at one point.
That looks like a back breaker, but gets the job done
Sure is, and does. Working on it again this coming weekend.
I'm 66 and I need to dig a lot of holes for a fence, because the old fence posts have rotted. The alternative is back breaking POST HOLE DIGGING by hand..... the best thing would be to ensure you have a shear bolt holding the bit onto the shaft, so it would shear off before it spins you around.,
The manual mentions gear oil. Where do I add the gear oil? The illustrations in the manual that came with it look nothing like what I have
there's a brass fitting on it where you add grease but it comes pre greased. The manual is badly out of date.
The instructions that the manufacturer provides are crap. Thanks for making this video. Of note: said instructions say something about adding oil to a gear box. I cant find that fill cap or screw ?
I am having the same problem.
it's pre greased and if you ever need to re grease it there's a brass fitting on the bottom that you use to put grease in.
is that the 6 or 8" bit?
The one I got is 8'" which looks like the exact one he's using
Having a tough time drilling
The engine is weak, low end
I dont remember hearing the
Size of the hole or auger width, depth
Not the kind of video or machine
That has drawn any interest
Oh boy !!
He is just making a utube video
Not actually building any project
Bunch of fence posts holes and footings have been dug using this auger. A two man or towable auger is definitely easier, but this one always gets the job done for me when I need it too. Plenty of projects.
