  • This is a quick overview of the Xtremepower 55cc One-man earth auger. I used an 8in bit to dig post holes for a fence I built. 11 holes later, I haven't even used a full tank of gas and it works great! I can strongly recommend it if you need to build a fence, over a couple of days it can pay for itself over renting one.
I bought mine on Amazon, but the exact same model can be bought at Home Depot, you can even find it with the bit included. It was much cheaper to buy on Amazon the power head and bit separately when this was filmed, but depending on what you need, it might be cheaper to buy a bundle at Home Depot. Model number at Home Depot was 81096.
One clarifying note- there was some confusion on Amazon about the oil/gas mixture, as it's labeled multiple different ways on Amazon and apparently over the years they changed the manual- the manual I got says 25:1 with regular gasoline and 2 stroke oil and that's what I used.

You'd probably need a special auger bit, and with how much this one whips around with a single person on clay soil & roots, I'm thinking you'd be better getting a two-man or larger auger.
