  • 1500 Watt Extreme Power Electric Post-Hole Digger & Auger, comes with 6" Digging Auger Drill Bit.
    I found this to be well worth the cost and easy to use. Best of all, it's simple. I'll need to have a generator to do remote work but most of the time that'll not be the case. So it's worth the inconvenience. Besides, great reason to get a nice swanky Honda generator.
    I'll be using this electric post-hole digger for planting small plants and even large ones if I can figure out a decent technique.
    I plan to make an update video after some heavy usage, we'll see how it lasts.
    Specs (Manufacturer website):
    Rated Watt: 1500W
    Voltage: 110V/60hz
    Amp: 10.9
    Max Torque: 90ft/lb
    Horsepower: 1.6HP
    No Load Speed: 200RPM
    Overall Dimension Bit: 31-1/2"(L) x 6"(W)
    Overall Dimension w/ Bit: 18"(W) x 13-1/2"(L) x 44"(H)

    You see all these videos where people go on and on about the product and finally use it towards the end. You on the other hand did what everyone wants. You used it and even said yourself in the beginning there that was enough talk, let's get to it. And during the video you said just enough commentary that kept me engaged without boring me. I give ya a thumbs up.

    It appears that if you clear the hole in 6" increments it doesn't seem to bind up. I'm sure people will say that roots will throw you for a loop but that happens with gas augers as well. TY for the video.

    • @IsaacDozier1
      @IsaacDozier1  3 года назад +2

      I did notice hitting roots as a slight angle helps cut em up pretty good. I agree that gas augers have the save issue. I'm curious what a powerband on these units would look like.

  • @Thomas_Hardy.
    @Thomas_Hardy. Год назад +1

    It digs a hole in raw dirt. But a hand held post hole digger is not too bad with that either. The roots. There is always many many roots. The gas augers, if you do to smaller increments and keep pulling dirt out, will sever roots if you go into the hole at high speed. I am wondering about this electric one? I guess it might. Cant really tell.

    Can I build a wood fence in my back yard using this ?

    • @IsaacDozier1
      @IsaacDozier1  3 года назад +1

      Yes, but it'd be a good idea to use a manual posthole digger on a couple test holes to see what your soil profile looks like.
      This machine has low power / high torque with no clutch or dampener. It's a simple, bare bones tool with some power limitations.

    I don't see any marks on the ground that locate utilities. PLEASE always call 811 (in the US) before you dig!!! If you cut thru a utility pipe or cable you could be injured or killed.

      This was virgin land when it was developed by my family when I was a kid. I know exactly where all utilities are on the property.
      Otherwise, yes... If developing on land with a known history of prior development, have a locator come out.
      This is not one of those situations, though.

    I have one but it doesn't have a reverse. The 120v is great. I I could figure out a way to put a reverse on it because when it gets stuck, its hard to get it loose.

    It doesn't work well with hard compacted soil; it digs only about one foot then I use a jack hammer to break up the soil below then use it again. I also use my knees to support it with my hands so it doesn't go back like it did with you; I learned my lesson when I only used my hands and I am a 56 year old woman.

    • @IsaacDozier1
      @IsaacDozier1  3 года назад +1

      I haven't got a chance to put any real hours on it. I'll tell you this though, the gearing feels tough. And given the lack of a clutch, it's a stupid simple piece of equipment. Just a mega oversized drill.

      @@Omiefury It's not so bad. I purposely put myself in the worst possible position as an example, and I'm fine. The human body requires leverage in most cases with equipment like this to be useful.

  • @theMekanik

    It’s only good in dirt soil not rock or pack clay, you will rip your fkn arm off with that thing.
    For land with rock get a ride on auger or one on a dolly, if you can find someone that has a tractor even a small yard tractor with a PTO & use an Auger Attachment. Even a ride on trench is better that hand digging one.

    • @IsaacDozier1
      @IsaacDozier1  4 года назад +1

      You're right, it's not built for the tough stuff. I bought this to dig holes in already tilled soil, but figured I'd test it's abilities. It has it's uses, but is definitely a specialized piece of equipment.
      Where I'm using this, I need to be as quiet as possible while also being efficient. So, it's perfect.

    • @theMekanik
      @theMekanik 4 года назад +1

      Isaac Dozier It needs a cradle or something. I like the idea that it’s electric ⚡️ but it needs a base or heavy rolling frame to hold it in place.
      Something to brace it.

    • @IsaacDozier1
      @IsaacDozier1  4 года назад +1

      To be fair, what it really needs is a dampener or some type of automatic clutch. It's an oversized drill, plain and simple.
      I get you see the flaw in it's design but that doesn't mean it's useless. Gas augers work just fine without the extra support your describing. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater now.

    • @theMekanik
      @theMekanik 4 года назад

      Isaac Dozier Nah I don’t use the hand held gas augers. I always hit rocks.
      They make a 24 inch long 3 inch wide auger, for a hand heals drill. I use a Makita 18 volt. with one. It does great until you hit a field stone with it. I think of using it as a pilot hole for a large auger before I commit. LoL
      It has a clutch on it, so it doesn’t rip my arm off.

    • @theMekanik
      @theMekanik 4 года назад +1

      Isaac Dozier Yah never thought of putting a clutch on it like when it hits something. That would definitely make it worth having.
      Still think it should have a Quad Pod or Something. I mean I have only delt with augers in rocks so there is no fukn way I would use a hand held one. 😅 I mean unless it’s on a hand held portable power drill with a clutch.
