    You inspired me to buy the same electric auger which is up to $170 now because of your video. LOL. I live in the mountains of CA at about 5,500' and gas lawn equipment doesn't run good up here unless it's WOT. I used an 8" bit and an extension to drill 16 post holes, 32" deep, for a fence I built. Dirt was like your salt barrel but harder. Came out awesome. Thank you much soldier.

    I have one of these with an 8 inch bit and a set of extensions. Works great in soil and clay but I would think that 12 inch auger would be hard on the clutch

    GReat job on your video- you showed us just what we all want to see. I just ordered one like yours before seeing your video. One reason for choosing it is it haws a clutch in it which slips when the ground is too hard. I thought you backed off it a couple of times to let it gently grab the soil and cut. A handful of others gave reviews on other electric and cordless electric augers. They said those with no clutch can break your wrists, throw you down, wrench your back, etc. Not this model with the ergo handles 90- degrees different. I bought this type to safeguard any farm helpers from getting hurt. Thanks. It was fun watching you.

    • @oxford821
      @oxford821  2 года назад

      Your correct, if the auger hits a rock or a root it will twist the machine right out of your hand. The clutch may be a good option. Thanks for watching!

    I'll check for an update. For a tool like that you should turn off the eco mode on the generator so the full power is available to the tool without delay. With eco mode the motor is ramping up slowly as it's getting resistance. Still worked though.

    I've been after an Electric earth auger forever. Just doesn't come up on my searches. Only when I commented on RUclips at a regular gas powered auger did it give me a link to this video. I would love to know where I can buy one here in the UK. Would have to be 230Vac though. I also need to be able to fit extension rods to it to drill 5m depth. Probably need up to 3kW version as well because of the hard clay.

      Thats because we still have a 2nd amendment and some gun rights left. I think it it was probably created after the British tried to take us over and kill us. Don't worry you limeys we still like you all. You're our allies you goofy Englishmen. Hey did you ever see the patriot. That one English guy was wicked in that movie. If it wasn't for Mel Gibson us Americans might have a slight English accent. Hey the rock bands are great from there. One of these days I want to go to England and see some bands and ride one of those double decker buses. Where would I go to see a good hard rock show in say London or Liverpool. Remember I'm just kidding you on some of this stuff. Cream and Black Sabbath were the best bands that were from Britain.But of course there's many more you big blokes.

It looks like they are comparable in performance. I also have a Gorilla cart that may be the same as yours and have used it for exactly the same thing....toting my auger and attachments around. I wonder if you'd have an easier time with the 12" bit if you used the 4" bit first.. and then used the 12" to widen the hole? I'm thinking about getting one to put a fence up. I'll need to dig around 30 holes and I definitely don't wanna do that by hand. lol

    I had installed 200 feet of 6 foot high fence by myself manually. I was not easy, had to use a post hole digger and an electric 80 pound jack hammer - tough soil with some good size rocks. Had no ideal that little thing could do a 12" pretty hole. In no way I would buy anything 2-cycle gas operated equipment - never again! Its either corded or cordless. $170 now, going to buy one. I'll do the 4" and let wife do the 12", LOL. BTW, you could throw the cord over your shoulders, but make sure the cord easily separates if it tangles with the bit. Don't want to do end up like Jeffrey Epstein. Thanks for the upload, that was informative.

    1. this guy really likes his new toy :-) haha
    2. this 'drill' was designed for the 4-inch holes +/- ( depending on soil condition)
    3. using a big drill bit ( 12")>> few holes and this motor will be toasted and most people will have to visit a chiropractor and stay home for a week or two with a sore back ( in clay soil you could not even pull the bit out of the soil /silly/kind of stupid and dangerous)

      stephen osborne The idea of the electric auger is to eliminate another gas powered tool in the garage that would need maintenance.
