- In this video I install a temporary power pole as a means of getting electricity to my homestead site. I also unbox and try out the Dually 52cc Auger with a 10'' auger bit. Watch and enjoy the fruit of some other guys labor.
I've been around here for 65 years come June.
And, I'm one of those old school guys who was raised in the age of improvising, due to necessity. i.e. we didn't have the money to simply go buy what we needed or wanted.
So we "made do" with what we had... or built/fixed our own tools. ["repurpose"-lol]
I read some negativity in the comments below.
What I seen, and learned from you video, was All good.
A young man Willing to physically work in this modern age, is becoming a rare commodity.
You are going to make many mistakes along the way; Good! As long as you learn from them. Then you can smile, as you show the next young man who may have similar challenges.

This is just hole digging, was good to watch, I've done many over the years by hand. You did fine.
Hey man, I watched a big, beefy guy use one of the smaller post hole diggers, and while he did it faster, because he was using only a 6" auger, you did it pretty darn well for your size. I wish you had included video of you putting up that bigger pole, and using that extension, but it's all good man. Thanks for posting this video. It was inspiring. Now I believe I can probably use that 4" auger that I'm thinking about getting. :)
The extension works awesome still using it to this day. It wont make it harder but will definitely get you super close to 4ft if you are setting stuff that requires. Had a couple close calls with the auger too if you arent ready to let go it could really mess you up. The augers with the springs help a whole bunch. Thanks for watching!
Really enjoyed this, as I just bought my first auger. It seems like you started at a slight angle, but once you were going straight down, the machine really took off. It looks like it works better when you stop and clear away all the dirt it has drilled through. Thank you for a very helpful video!

Two things from my observation of your using the auger... 1) I'm going to buy the extension and 2) I'm using my cup from the karate days. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I seen one of these a lows and thought it was a ice auger, I finally went to purchase it as it was winter and it was 250$.
I looked better and it was a earth auger so I told my son that we should purchase the ice auger in our local town, he said to get the earth auger instead it will work. Well we bought it and put my dad’s ice auger blade on it and we was ice fishing right away, my dad’s auger power head was toast and by not buying the in tow I saved 370$ and I’m glad I listened to my son cause I had no idea the one in town was well over 660$

I heard you talk about gas can design. I googled "who regulates gas can design", and OSHA, EPA, and CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) all get into the act. You've heard of "design by committee"? Gas cans are designed by a committee of committees! There's your answer for why the heck gas cans are so frustrating to operate, lol.
Yeah, it's ridiculous! I think people just use a replacement nozzle these days, because you can get a nozzle kit. It basically defeats the purpose of those stupid, impossible-to-use "safety" nozzles, which always seem to just break as you're trying to get gas out of the gas can. I have found some different gas cans, with simpler safety nozzles, but those break easily too. It's a nightmare of ridiculousness, and this is what we get with more and more government. Hopefully Trump wins in the fall this year, and he can deep six a few more stupid federal government regulations, which are killing this country.

Hello, this is the only auger that two people can use, and I'm usually one person but occasionally will pay for help. So my question is how Is the durability of it? How has it held up after all this time
So far it has been amazing starts up quick and is still in incredible shape after drilling over 100 holes between me and my neighbors. Thanks for watching!
If this is the only thing you are planning to use it for, than a good $ 45.00 Heavy / Commercial Post Hole Digger would have been great, Elbow Grease is Free ...
I ended up using the auger for the DIY fence and drilling about 50 post holes around two feet deep. The auger powered through all of them and with the help of my fiance was much more pleasurable to use. I've been lending it out to all the neighbors as well which has earned me some serious IOU's.

Food for thought it might have been easier to back the truck up and flip the pole into the hole. You won't pull your weiner string that way.

A lot of extra work for a temporary pole
I have since thought of keeping the pole and using it as a master box as well as for any outdoor power needs. From there running a sub panel into the home or shed.
Harbor Freight sells a 21 inch extender for $25.00
