    Wow!!! That 12" auger looked like a leg amputation looking to happen. Glad you are still standing on two stilts Tim! - Rick

      It was a beast for sure! May be good for ice fishing but I think I will stick with the 8" for most jobs!

      @@RidgeLife Maybe start without the extension, and then connect it once you've gone down 2 feet.

    When I was putting in the timbers for the grape arbor (8' post, 4' deep) I considered renting an auger for the job, but finally decided to just go with the manual post hole diggers that I already had. I was digging in sand, which made the task a lot easier (and that is ALSO why I went 4' deep!) If I had hit clay early on, I think I would have gone ahead and gotten the auger!
    It IS one of those tools that a person isn't going to need on a regular basis - and would make a good candidate for a church or community center tool lending program.
    I really like the rear access feature of that mailbox .. put some stepping stones or pavers in, and Grandma Carol can collect her mail in house slippers 😊

      Yeah, it pains me too but for something I won’t use too often and hard to find USA made and owned, I do it but try to buy American where I can.

    Hey Tim, thanks for posting the video on the 63CC earth auger. I actually have the same one that has been sitting in the shed (boxed) for three years. Just took it out today to use it--and like you--found the manual to be crap--not to mention-for an obviously different auger. Your review was great, but there was one omission that still has me scratching my head. You said your unit came with gear oil in the transmission--which made me feel better as I'd be damned if I couldn't find a drain or a fill hole to add oil or drain it. If you in fact were able to find one I'd be grateful if you could share that info with me. I'm sure others with this machine would appreciate it as well. Actually there is one other question, where do your find augers and extensions that fit this machine. I have a 12 and a 6-inch auger as well as a 24-inch extension, but after watching your video (I'm planning a pergola and would need to drill 12 inch holes for the post foundations) would like to avoid drilling 15-inch holes when I only need 12 inches. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. Cheers, Tom

    I wonder how well it does in what I call "normal" soil, i.e. rocks and roots. Never fails, anytime I am digging a hole, there are rocks and roots.

    I just took my tank off to replace the fuel lines and a nut popped out of nowhere. I can't for the life of me figure out where it came from. The bolts that hold the tanks fit through the nut but I still can't figure out if it was on one of them or not. It doesn't seem like it's needed but it came from somewhere.

    I just put water in the hole and pour the pre mix in and take the pole and mix it a lot less work .

      Yeah a lot of people do that. If I only have a couple and a real high load, I like to ensure it’s mixed well.

    So your 20 minute review consists of just one dug hole basically??

    • @RidgeLife
      @RidgeLife  2 года назад

      Yes. It wasn’t a hole digging instructional. It was an unboxing, setup and first use review. Did you read the video description? Thanks for your feedback.
