“leave it alone” and “walk away” are the best watercolor skills ever. ❤❤❤ It’s like constantly reminding yourself to trust the brushstrokes to be just fine after they dry - and that’s way more relaxing than trying to argue with every single brushstroke as you paint.

    • @KristyRice

I love the metaphor of arguing with the stroke or paint! That’s what we do sometimes!

New to watercolor and I just found your channel. I just wanted to say thank you! I really appreciate you going into so much detail on how you held the brush and moved it, and on the way you loaded your paint in order to get that gorgeous loose watercolor painting. It’s something I struggle with every time I sit down to paint and yours is the most helpful video I’ve found so far! ❤

I have 3 dagger brushes and cannot get the kind of strokes you get. I can get leaves but only one way. Would you do a video on how to hold the dagger brush - at an angle, turned right or left? I've noticed that the dagger brushes have different shapes. Some have a very long pointed end and others, like yours, are more rounded. Would love to learn more about them.

I love this style so much it speaks to me. I think opaque watercolors are so fun to use and add a lot of spice to paintings. Love this blow by blow type of video it reminds me of watching a sports cast review. I have to say I use your brushes and paint a lot. I also have been using the brushes from Emma Lefebvres set and they are wonderful. Between those I am set for painting. And you have me hooked on the Academy paper. Thank you so much for your insight into watercolor Kristy your videos have helped me improve. This community is great, it brings me JOY and that says a lot for a person that deals with profound anxiety and depression along with autoimmune issues. THANK YOU sweet lady.

Hi Kristy! I have been OBSESSED with your channel lately, and watching as many videos as I can in a day 😂 I love your painting style and how you emphasize progress, imagination, and courage over trying to paint a perfect, lifelike masterpiece from the first try. ❤❤❤
I'm having trouble getting bleeds and blooms to happen consistently, and I don't know why. I am using W&N Cotman paints and 140 lb cold press paper. Maybe I'm not using enough water or working too slowly, so the paint dries before I can add wet paint... Do you have any tips for practicing water control and learning how the brush feels when it doesn't have enough water?
P.S. I have seen knock-offs of your beautiful paint brushes and zipper pouches on Amazon and Etsy, from what seems to be the same shop located in China (at least that's the listed location on Etsy). I wanted to let you know!
