Tommy wouldn’t have dreamed to speak to Margaret that way. Dramatic flair for sure.

It was ridiculous to have him take that tone not only with a princess then second in line to the throne but with a young girl who didn't understand how or why the system worked.

@@dlxmarks I suppose in fairness this scene was a flashback presumably from young Margaret's POV so it might not have been objectively what he said but Margaret's subjective childhood memory of events

@@sgabigooh I love that! Like it might not be what he said but what she grasped from it. Very clever.

I honestly don't think Margaret wanted the job of the Queen. It takes up so much of your life and identity. I remember when Elizabeth had to go to Eton for extra schooling on the constitution and Margaret laughed at her. She loved the freedom. However, she was sad to lose Elizabeth when the ranks changed. I honestly do think she should've taken the out to be with Peter if she was given the opportunity, but she enjoyed the privilege too much.

I once read that when the two sisters were very young and they learned that Elizabeth would eventually be Queen, Margaret said to her, "Oh, what a bore for you".

She might have ben in love with the idea of being a queen, the glamour part, not the duty part for sure.

@@kalinastachel1425that’s what I thought. Little girls like the idea of castles, and nice dresses, and generally being a princess. In time, as she grew, she would have had the advantage to learning how much being Queen changed her sister’s life.

There might be truth in that but she also saw how the stress killed her father. She probably would've wanted the attention though.@@kalinastachel1425

@kalinastachel1425 she would have been 1000% happier as a daughter of a duke too far from the throne or a non-royal one. The aristocracy have the best combination of privilege, status, and freedom. Royals not the monarch constantly fly too close to the sun.

Harry is a young man who was born into remarkable privilege. He moved to California; to start fresh and prove to the world, that he can earn a living without relying on his family's wealth. He appears to be floundering. Does he have a job? I think the answer is no.

@@nomahope3182but numbers 3 and 4 of the current older generation (Edinburgh and Princes Royal) have been doing stirling jobs within the Firm. It appears attitude problems develop in the number 2s. Makes me think how it’s apparently far harder for athletes to win silver than bronze as it’s an ‘almost won’

Do you remember? This saying from Elizabeth (Imelda Staunton) comes from season 6 of The Crown, when both Harry's Meg-zit and infamous book and the death of the Queen were already known.
