      @@adanmontenegro94303 I actually use a controller most of the time on PC. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Sometimes I use mouse and keyboard. Also nothing wrong with that. A higher end PC can produce better graphics than a console. It’s just a fact. But if a user doesn’t care about that then that’s okay. People are allowed to not want the “best on the market.” But if someone says PC is better and that’s why I want it, then that’s okay too. Let not confuse “best” with “that’s the only option.” PCs are more expensive than console. Especially now during the shortage and pandemic. Before the pandemic, budget PCs were rising in popularity because they allowed for you to spend $500-600 and beat an Xbox One and PS4. This is not true for the new consoles however. But if PC is better, then it should be more expensive. That’s how markets work.

    • @gytisvasiliauskas4134
      @gytisvasiliauskas4134 2 года назад +1

      @@adanmontenegro94303 yeah the controller thing might be right on some stuff. But you can always use it on pc if that's what you want. Bdw the regular aim assist bulshit that people say it's really a necessity for controller because of short travel distance on the stick you use to aim because you can't make small changes easily. And the graphics even though it's nice on pc that's not the main selling point for me. It's the different games. Triple A games become way to similar for me. When I play the game within 1h it gets boring because the game only has small difference from other titles similar to it. So personally I love PC for the massive choice from small developer games to mods and so on. You can find way more innovation on gaming mechanics and just the premises of the game itself on mods and inde developers. But that's only my opinion 🤷. But it's sad I can't play some of the games with my friends that play on Console for some arbitrary reasons...

    Personally I prefer pc for many reasons, like being the only platform that has some genre's I've always enjoyed (rts, simulators, crpg's, mmorpg's etc.) huge selection of peripherals, multi monitor support, modding, hardware customization and much more. For example my current build I put together around a 1440p high fps playstyle with a Ryzen 9 5900X/Rog Strix 6800XT/ 32Gb ram. I also have my Switch because I've always been a Nintendo fan and a handheld enthusiast. I do however have many older consoles and games I've collected over the year and there's nothing wrong with gaming on console as a primary way of playing as long as you're happy and having fun, after all that's what it's all about in the end.

      I agree 100%. That’s why I started the video with I would never tell someone to switch if they are happy. Just saying if someone was considering the switch, then I do recommend it. Ideally, one would do both console and PC like in your case. But that’s not a reality for everyone. Thank you for the comment and for checking out my video I really appreciate it. That’s so awesome about your PC. Those are solid specs. How did you manage to get a 5900x? I thought I was lucky when the 5800x came in stock at my Microcenter and I picked it up. I did a video on it actually. I have a 5800x/RTX 3070 founders edition and also 32gb of RAM. I also have multiple consoles including a switch and several Xboxes.

It has to be said that PC can not only play third-party games, but also support mod and customization, and FPS game keyboard and mouse are always the best choice. Why PC is better?
    1.Cheaper games.
    2. Better performance.
    3. Better visuals.
    4. Mods
    5. No online fees to use the internet you already pay for.
    6. You get all the xbox games, some of the PS games, and can emulate Nintendo.
    7. As the PC ages you can adjust settings to achieve the best visual/performance combo acceptable to you until you wish to upgrade.
    8. Several handhelds exist for a hybrid experience, bring those games with you like the switch but better.
    9. Use any controller... Hell any input device really from KB/M to a 360 pad.
    10. Console gaming Is slowly dying, sales of the hardware have plateaued while PC makes more revenue than all consoles combined.
    11. You can do a LOT more on it than a console.
    Console advantages?
    1. You can share physical games.
    2. Plug and play out of box, though modern PCs hardly require you to be a rocket scientist.
    3. Cheaper up front investment, but more expensive over time with fees and more expensive games.
    Consoles are like credit cards, cheap up front instant gratification but you pay more over time.
    PC is like paying cash, bigger hit to the wallet up front but cheaper over time saving you money on your investment long term.

      @ErockOnTech  2 года назад

      Well, once a PC is up and running you don’t have to replace the parts. If something breaks, then sure. But if your console breaks then that needs to be fixed or replaced as well. So as long as nothing breaks, then you can build a PC and set it and forget it. Just like a console.
      Respectfully, if you decided to go with a console, why didn’t you buy a next gen console?
      I just released a new video today about a Super Mario themed gaming PC that I built for my wife. In that video, I set the PC up to be as much like a console as possible. It’s for my wife who was coming from console. So I needed it to feel familiar for her. So this is proof you can have the benefits of PC gaming with the simplicity of a console.

I remember saying I didn’t want to constantly worry about specs and temps. Then I switched to PC and said I wouldn’t be that guy. And now I’m that guy lol. I think if you’re on PC it’s inevitable. I will say the Nvidia optimizer really is very helpful. One button and the game is automatically configured perfectly for your system. The only down side is you have to have an Nvidia GPU.

    Having experience with both PC and console. PC gaming is trash, people look at specs and conclude PC is a better choice they buy it put a ton of investment in it but cant leave due to the investment. Games are optimized for console the relative weak GPU of the old cheap ps4/ Xbox are running new gen games smoothly 10 years later and will be repeated by the ps5 and the series x for the following consoles. No overpriced PC from that era or this era could do so without exploding unless you spent 7 to 10 times more. That comes with bad ports and optimization issues. 7- 10 times the money for playing the same games with bad ports, faulty issues and late releases. up to date PCs have better graphics and fps for a year or two but poor optimization means that power is expensive and expires in 5 years. Its like having a plane race a speed boat on water.

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  2 года назад

      I disagree. First off, you’re using the same two most common complaints that everyone else uses when complaining about PC gaming. Money and supposed game optimization.
      As for the money, many things in life are an “investment” and cost a lot of money. But even still, before the silicon shortage, budget PCs were a thing. There are several videos on RUclips showing you how to build a $500 console killer. At the time of filming, it was comparing the $500 PC to a $500 Xbox One and a $400 PS4. Similar pricing, but the PC performed way better.
      Now we have updated consoles and a silicon shortage. So I agree, it’s going to cost you more money for a PC over a console. Sure. But the PC is a better experience and as with many things in life; better experiences cost more money.
      Sitting court-side at the Lakers game cost more than the nose bleed section.
      Now let’s talk about Game Optimization.
      I don’t know where you or anyone else come up with consoles have better optimization. That is a generalization and as with all generalizations, it is not fully correct.
      Most games run fine on both platforms. However, some games do better on console and some games do better on PC. Batman Arkham Knight was fine on console but terrible on PC. Cyberpunk has been fine on PC mostly since day 1. At least playable. It was so bad on console that Sony refused to even sell the game on the store for almost a year. So don’t say games are better on console. That is just wrong.
      By the way, Destiny 2 is still an inferior experience on console when compared to PC. Some people don’t know how to properly take care of their PC. Because of that, the PC can get cluttered and then start to have performance issues. But with proper care, these issues are avoided and the gaming experience is just better. But please, by all means, enjoy your console.

Admittedly many ports are lackluster, I usually check the reviews and if necessary wait for them to be patched (officially or unofficially) before I play them. But then I can play them with enhanced graphics and MODS. For someone who truly wants the best experience from a game, consoles can't match PCs. As someone that has been PC gaming since 2003, but has also had a console in each gen since PS1. There is definitely a reason to have both. For starters. Multiplayer games. up until the recent rise of Crossplay, I played a lot of crossplatform multiplayer games on console. You don't realize it at first but the PC audience moves off of new crossplatform games REALLY FAST. I remember playing COD before MW19 and you could reliably bet that the game would be almost dead on PC within a couple months.
    Titanfall 1 and 2 had the same problem. Not to mention there are just less people on PC. When I play Crossplay games, the vast majority of people are usually on console. Then of course you have the rampant run away issue of cheating on PC and it's looking more and more dire.
    Then you have technical issue troubleshooting which is 100% a skill you need to have if you play on PC. Driver issues, install issues, graphical issues, config editing, hardware component issues. they all add up into a bunch of wasted time.

    • @ErockOnTech

      Honestly, I don’t disagree. PC does often require troubleshooting. It is a skill. It can be cumbersome. Consoles aren’t just easier but they are also cheaper. This is a big factor. I think cross play is amazing for all the reasons you mentioned and more. There are a lot of multiplayer games that have plenty of people on PC. For example, World of Warcraft and DOTA. These games don’t even exists on console. I’ve heard your argument before about PC multiplayer issues. There is some truth to it. I don’t know the reasons why. But I will say it does depend on the “multiplayer” game you’re talking about. As for the cheating, I agree that when and if it happens it’s terrible. It should be dealt with and should never be allowed. My point of this video was not to talk about why PC is so much better. My point was to share my story and how I came to the decision of playing on PC. Honestly, if Xbox did not make the decision to give all exclusives to PC, then I would likely still be on Xbox. I now have a PS5 also. Like you said, a reason to have both.

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  3 года назад +5

      That’s a tough choice for sure. Can you only pick one? Here are my thoughts on some of your comments.
      First off, I would say the reason why a console may perform better than your laptop is because laptops really aren’t the best PC gaming experience for a long-term use. They are small form factors and they throttle very easily. They are also very limited on upgrades. So typically, after a few years, you usually need to just get a new laptop.
      Secondly, when I talk about PC gaming as a whole, while laptops are included in that, most of the actual best situations can be obtained through desktop gaming.
      For your point number 3, I made a video talking about that exact same topic. It’s called before you switch to PC gaming. Maybe you can go check out the video and let me know what you think about it. In that video I mentioned how PC gaming has way too many launchers and this is honestly a downfall of PC gaming as a whole. I agree with you 100%. I am not a fan of all the launchers on PC. I definitely prefer the simplicity of a one stop shop on Console.
      Lastly, I think one reason why consoles can give you decent performance for so many years to come is because developers have to keep downgrading the graphics as well as other settings. I’m not trashing console. I still like console a lot. I just bought a PS5. I’m just saying in order for consoles to run the latest games, developers have to make “custom” settings that don’t even exist on PC. Digital Foundry is a RUclips channel that specializes in all the tech specs for games and how they perform on PC and Console. And they were able to confirm that red dead redemption two on console had a custom setting that didn’t even exist on PC. Certain features were able to go lower than the lowest setting on PC. My point with all of this is that consoles do last for many years to come, but it’s at the expense of graphical fidelity as well as other settings being lowered year after year. So it’s a trade-off.
      To answer your question, even with a PC, a PS5 will be a great purchase. Assuming you can actually buy one. They are super hard to get right now. PS5 will have games that are not on PC and likely won’t ever be on PC. So the exclusives make it worth it. However, I would not recommend buying a PS5 over MSRP. If you have to pay more then I think the money is better spent on a PC. As for the mini itx or laptop, I would say it depends on what you prefer. Laptop will be more portable. But the mini itx will offer you more power and more upgrade options for years to come.

My workflow is mainly done in laptops because i need the mobility, so when i decided that i wanted to play something in my office i saw both sides, the console or a gaming laptop (i don't want to pay my kidneys to get a GPU just to play three days a week) and the xbox for me was just miles better, for 300 dollars i got something far more powerful than my laptop or a gaming laptop for the same price. This decision is maily done by how your workflow is set or your friends, if you need a powerful machine for work, try adding a bit more and making it also suited for gaming or if all your friends have pc's, then get a Pc, if not i can assure you that a console will work just fine

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  3 года назад

      That really depends on what you want. A 3060ti is a great GPU. But it won’t be able to do 4K. At least not at high refresh rates. You may be able to do 4k resolution, medium settings, and then get around 60 FPS. The PS5 will usually offer you at 60 FPS experience with a dynamic scaler on the resolution. So the resolution will not always be 4k. It will adjust up and down to maintain the targeted frame rate. Some games are less demanding and therefore you can have up to 120FPS on the PS5. Are there any PS5 exclusives you really want to play? Can you buy a PS5 at msrp?

      Normally with that budget you can still build a really decent PC. And then you can upgrade it overtime as you get additional money. That’s the luxury of a PC over a consul. However, the current market for PC parts is absolutely terrible. Specifically, mostly around the graphics card. Graphics cards are going to cost you most of your budget. So if you need to make a decision right now, I would recommend getting a consul. That’s assuming you can get one of the new consuls for MSRP. Phil knows what Sony doesn't. Phil knows that dedicated PC Gamers aren't going to buy a Console. Last Console I owned was a Xbox 360. The other thing Gamepass does is create a Install Base for Xbox that they don't have to manufacture Consoles for. Consoles are typically sold at a loss. So between Gamepass Subs and not having to manufacture as many Consoles, Microsoft could potentially increase their Profits. That is why Console sales numbers should be ignored now. Microsoft isn't beholden to them. The other reason Gamepass on PC is smart is because PC is the preferred Platform in everyone's favorite Nation China.

      @@sortout1 I just mean it's more complicated than gaming on a console. There are definitely more complicated things in life than gaming on a PC, but when you compare console to PC, PC is more complex. Console is designed to be as simple as possible. It is plug and play. the entire UI is designed around your gaming experience. But on PC, there are a million other things you could end up doing before you start gaming. And each game has a launcher such as Steam or Epic. Sometimes your hardware is compatible nd sometimes it's not. You have to manually adjust all your settings for each game. On console, you just play. You don't worry about anything I just listed above. But PC is better in terms of performance and customization.

    Hey Erock congratulations on your graduation! I just found your channel with this video and was very impressed with your openness and candid thoughts. I have been a serious PC gamer since 2016 when the GTX 1070 first came out. I got the very first GTX 1070 prebuilt BestBuy had in stock in June or July of 2016. Before that my PC gaming was more casual and didn't require a powerful GPU. I also was a Sony fanboy owning the PS1 through PS4. Even though I own a huge library of PS4 games, after the incompetency and lack of giving a crap for it's customers with the huge mess and joke of getting PS5's I dropped Sony permanently. I say that Sony dropped the ball big time not because they were unable to produce enough PS5's due to the pandemic and manufacturing and shipping issues, they aren't to blame for that, but I believe they could have done far more to ensure customer's not bots or scalpers got the consoles into their hands. So now I am solely a PC gamer now (I even got rid of my Nintendo Switch) and couldn't be happier, especially now that I have upgraded to an MSI Aegis desktop with an RTX 3070 and i7 gen 11. I'm also making the switch from console to PC... but unlike yourself, I'm doing it from PS5 to PC ( I already sold my PS5) It's kind of a long story but in a nutshell even though I LOVE Ps Exclusives, I've had a lot of problems with the hardware and I don't feel like doing the lottery over and over again (there's more details about this but I'm keeping it short haha). There is also some other reasons for the switch, such as paid online, less freedom and control, etc..
    Right now, I just want to build a good PC..
    It's insane because I've been an avid fan of Playstation since PS1...I will probably get a PS5 slim ( or just a better revision/cheaper ) later down the line to play the exclusives I will miss (very dearly lol), it's still pretty sad though.
    BUUUUT, they are porting their games to PC, so..idk hahaha we'll see!

    And also, do you game with M+k for all games?

      Oh wow that is very interesting that you are switching from a PS5. I’m sorry to hear that you had so many issues with your PS5. But I think you will love PC for sure! So unfortunately, right now is a terrible time to build a PC due to a lack of parts and scalping. GPUs are more expensive than ever. Right now, you would get a better value from buying a Pre-Built PC. In that case, NZXT is an excellent option.
      But I also understand the desire to build your PC. I did a video on pre built PCs vs custom. I talked about all the pros and cons. But in general I do prefer building my own PC.
      As for parts.
      CPU: AMd is king right now. I would stick to Ryzen 3000 or 5000. If you go 3000 then the 3700x is awesome. If you go 5000 then the 5600x is the best gaming CPU when you talk about price per performance.
      You could also go Intel if you get a solid deal. But my recommendation there would be, compare the cores and threads to AMD and compare prices.
      GPU: honestly, right now, it’s whatever you can get and whatever you can afford. GPUs are really expensive right now.
      Motherboard: you need to buy the motherboard that is compatible with your CPU. (No AMD and Intel are not the same)
      RAM: stick to 16gb minimum and keep the speeds between 3200-3600.
      Get a 80 plus gold certified power supply.
      Make sure you have a good cooling solution for your CPU. If you go ryzen 3000, then some of those CPUs come with a cooler. So that saves you some money.

And you use to be able to buy a game off the shelf and pop it in and it would be exactly what you paid for every time. It didn’t matter if the game was no longer supported or was , because it was a independent hard copy you couldn’t leave broke . A one time purchase you could enjoy over and over. Now we downloading games they eventually stop supporting the game you paid for. Plus consoles was designed specifically for gaming out the box , controller and all. Last I checked, you’re not currently playing God of War Ragnarok either. Lol. But also, initially, PC players were told we would never play the PlayStation “exclusives.” Yet, here we are. I love playing Spiderman Remastered on my PC with an Xbox controller. It’s awesome! Yeah yeah yeah, “but it’s an old game.” So? It’s a good game. It’s a fun game. The experience on PC is better. And we may not get the new God of war day 1. But I bet money it won’t take 3-4 years. I bet Ragnarok will be on PC significantly faster than the first God of War was. Sony wants money and they make a lot of it on PC. It’s just business.
      But to your point “PC players won’t get it day 1.” Sure. You’re right. But show me a gamer who doesn’t have a back log. I know I’ve got one. Many of my friends have back logs too. We can afford to wait. Also, buying a whole system just for an exclusive is dumb. Additionally, I bought a PS5 almost a year ago now. Huge mistake. I almost never play it. They were sold out and I had the rare opportunity to buy it for MSRP. So I figured why not. Maybe I can play spider man and some other “exclusives” on it. Then they announced spider man for PC smh.
      But yeah plenty of people can and do have a console and a PC. But my point is most people will mostly play on one. Have you ever heard of the 80% rule? I bet if you tracked most people’s habits, the majority of their time would be spent on one platform over the other. While there are some niche use cases for multiple platforms, generally more than one platform is a waste of money. But to each their own.
      Consoles are becoming less and less relevant. They still offer plenty of value to many people. But what is a PS5 without its few exclusives not yet on PC? What will it be once Sony puts more exclusives on the PC?

    I think that console is a great value. You dont have to bother with launchers, settings etc.. For that price its uncomparable, even the subscriptions are in sales everytime. Just enjoy the real life and when u bored, just sit on the couch press one simple button and play your game for another 8 years without a problem. Simple, but if you're geek than I actually understand that you want to mess a thousands of dollars for a pc.

      I’m a nerd/geek for sure. But there were many reasons why I switched to PC gaming. I explained my decision and shared my story in the video. I hated PC gaming at first. I was a die hard console gamer. Did you watch the video?

    I was always a computer gamer, since the early 1980s. I always enjoyed games in the arcades and consoles, but never owned one till oh about the NDS for portable and Xbox 360 for full console.
    I got several more over the years, 3DS, PSP, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, XBONE while at the same time remaining mainly a computer gamer, PC gamer in particular the last almost 30 years. But, slowly over the last decade I found fewer reasons to focus on any console.
    First, even when I was buying portable/handheld consoles, I almost never took them outside my apartment. Afraid to lose or damage them or their games. Plus the idea of them getting dirty, just killed any desire for me to have them outside...so what's the point of having them in the first place? That's why the PS Vita was the last portable console I ever bought and probably ever will buy.
    Second, a combination of patches and DRM. One of the huge advantages console games used (USED) to have was how the games were mostly stable and without major issues on release. You could play any of them from start to finish without any major issues, without problems. Sure there were the rare major problems, but they were rare. With console games becoming almost PC games in everything but name, they also followed the way of the "PATCH". Only that they were no longer just a patch.. For example up to the 90s and early 00s, you could have a PC game patch for a full release, which was just fa few hundred KB in size, perhaps a couple of MBs. Annoying, but nothing too serious. Most PC games did not have patches and when they did were usually not to fix game breaking bugs. As the years passed and we got inside the 21st century, patches not only grew in size, but also in having to have them to even play the freaking game you already bought. That was unacceptable not only because you were basically buying a broken game for full money, but also because at the time (early 2000s) most major PC releases were on disc (good), with DRM (bad). DRM which caused more issues than solve ANYTHING.
    So at that time, XBOX 360/PS3, it made a huge sense to focus on those consoles which while they also tended to have some patches, usually nothing serious. More years passed and it is now well into the ridiculous phase. Most major releases are not games. They are basically demos or alpha/beta versions of the game and you have to download the "patch" to "fix" the game and make it playable. This of course was done strictly to have the publishers trap the gamers. How? By making the physical releases (PC or console) mostly worthless. The same way that PC games on physical form became nothing but steam key in a box. Only that of course on consoles you still had a part of the game on disc. You still needed the servers to download the rest of the game. This way over the years you had the gamers "learn" new behavior in "owning" a copy of a game and finding the idea of actually owning a copy as not just worthless, but even quaint.
    With the Game Pass of various names for each platform, the plan succeeds in having gamers basically renting the games and not being able to do anything, even play many games, without an internet connection, and even while playing a single player game. Plus of course, if you stop paying, you lose access to ALL your games. Delicious! Hostage situation and the hostage pays for it.
    So, why am I mostly a PC gamer now? I say mostly because I still have the older consoles (PS4/XBONE were the last I bought and that is going to stay like this).
    One word. GOG. Thanks to GOG I can buy my games, DRM FREE, download the offline installers and then whenever I want i can install, play, remove them without asking for permission, without informing the companies what I do. Also if the internet or servers are down, I can install and play them whenever the frell I want. Unfortunately GOG doesn't have the size of Steam yet, so you will most likely not see AAA online games on it, but you know what, I am willing to make that sacrifice. It's not like there is a lack of games.
    Yes I am a PC gamer now, 99% of the games I buy are DRM free (from GOG, but in the rare occasion from other sources like itch.io etc.) .

      I don’t know about Itchi.co. I need to check that out. As for GOG I love what they do and what they stand for. DRM free gaming is truly the best. However, like you said, there is a lack of AAA support. For me, that is an issue. I like to play the latest games with my friends. But also, I need the latest games for benchmarking on my channel. But if I wasn’t a content creator, then this wouldn’t be as much of a problem.
